1] please…

my two votes:

1] please consider nudging up rb ron johnson, fantastic rbs that followed johnson like billy taylor, eventual-wingback glenn doughty, gordie bell, etc seemed like a downgrade compared to the exceptional johnson to me

2] please consider honorable mention for 50's rb jim pace-----racked up lots of yards and touchdowns for pretty mediocre michigan teams, team mvp one year and an all-american also

and yes mel anthony was really fast for his size, and maybe a little love for teammates tom mack and frank nunley

have i clearly outed myself as an older reader?

05/30/2018 - 9:36am MATTHEWS' CHOICES

Let's assume Matthews does not get drafted.  Then he can still play in the development league stateside, or professionally overseas and work on his game [including his jumper] 24/7, because he does not have any more academic responsibilities.  And, he gets paid, not a king's ransom, but he does get paid.  A young talent can make a nice living in Europe, and even G-league money now might be needed more than possible [not guaranteed] money later

03/31/2018 - 9:01pm i don't get it

How is it good practice for michigan's lawyers to put forth 1/2 of a case?  If Michigan wanted to get a favorable ruling, then its only choice was to back up the truck and dump everything it had on mississippi

03/09/2018 - 7:21am injury question

is it certain that speight has been medically cleared to play for michigan?  or any school?

11/20/2017 - 10:02am if a life sentence is so much worse than a death sentence.....

then why do so many death sentence prisoners take an appeal to a higher court to try to prevent execution, and no life sentence prisoners take an appeal demanding to be killed

11/18/2017 - 4:42pm i think michigan started three drives around the fifty or better

during the 3rd quarter and got one field goal while peters was still playing qb-------michigan was beaten regardless

08/25/2017 - 8:31am malzone

what i have heard/read is that malzone is such a strong michigan guy that he wants to stay with the team for as long as he can

08/23/2017 - 10:49am i saw this posted elsewhere and thought it was great

a guy who posts as "iowahawk" said something like

i really hope there was a confederate general named dick vitale

07/12/2017 - 7:24am another point relating to 10 in the box

on the fourth and one----michigan gave the ball to senior fb fritz seyferth-----rather than bigger/faster/but younger fb ed shuttlesworth--------i know it's only one play but using the more experienced player rather than the more talented player seems like something that it discussed on this board even now

04/25/2017 - 2:06pm i'm with you, utah

however, i must freely concede that cops=liars to our intellectually superior, postmodern, humane, progressive, friends here

02/23/2017 - 12:18pm askance

as a long-time TTB reader, I might look at you quizzically, or maybe doubtfully, but never askance

02/16/2017 - 11:04am warrants have been requested----but not issued OR refused

per the second of the linked stories above

technically, the police have requested warrants-------but no decision hasbeen made one way or the other as to whether complaints/warrants will be authorized or denied

02/05/2017 - 10:30am a second silver lining

Crisler was full [or at least nearly full for the game.

i suggest that if this continues that Michigan should host a t least a couple of rounds in the NIT

11/08/2016 - 5:04pm location, location.........

It is always harder to pull a young man far away from his family/home

09/26/2016 - 4:17pm without regard to what your job is......

....the statement "every month a Police Officer shoots someone for no reason" is complete and utter nonsense

07/07/2016 - 12:42pm +10 @ND, @MSU, @OSU is garbage scheduling

Does the spirit of DB still infect the offices at the athletic department?

Or, is Michigan so desparate to play ND that it will agree to anything?

05/05/2016 - 7:18am and Howard King was way better for basketball, too

I do not know if others in this thread have commented on this, but the Howard King announcing style for basketball is a kazillion times better than what we have @ Crisler right now

03/29/2016 - 3:57pm racine better this year

but in previous seasons neither he nor naglevoort were consistently good enough to keep the starting job=

11/02/2015 - 8:16am a vote in favor of michigan/illinois being a rivalry

michigan has played illinois 94 times, more than any other team except minny, michigan state, and ohio state

plus as other people have pointed out, the "teach-em-a-lesson-for-moeller-and-we-hate-mike-white" games;  the mid-eighties games [great goalline stand led by hammerstein, field goal block by heren to save a tie, etc.,] , games agqainst red grange [ok, that's long ago, but still....]

anyway, i think that there is a good argument that through modern realignments, scheduling, etc., that by not playing a team like illinois that we have played since almost forever, that we are losing more than we are gaining

10/06/2015 - 4:58pm pressuring maryland qb caleb rowe

The defense played another remarkable game against maryland

But, what college qb is successful/effective when he is pressured?  For that matter, pro qbs have a devil of a time when the defense gets pressure

09/28/2015 - 2:16pm just our goalie troubles alone.......

just our goalie troubles alone would seem to make first place even in a weak big ten hockey conference unlikely

06/02/2015 - 4:04pm unfortunately

sorry---double post

06/02/2015 - 4:03pm unfortunately

i agree with #23 above written by nyquist

michigan had a lot of baserunners against the #2 and the #3 florida pitchers---so game #1 last night was michigan's best chance to win

i am afraid it will be much tougher against all-american haeger

05/21/2015 - 3:29pm can't blame the guy

in the last three years

zero ncaa appearances

zero league tournament championships

zero regular seaon league championships

and the same goalie situation for the 2015-2016 season

03/18/2015 - 7:55am 30 second shot clock

Anything that causes college basketball to more closely resemble the NBA game is a bad thing,  [btw, I like the NBA, but I like the differences between college and the pros].  But I think that the shorter the shot clock, the less time there is for the current variety in college ofenses.

01/12/2015 - 11:33am wheatley's pro history

sorry--double post

01/12/2015 - 11:32am wheatley's pro history

right, and my memory is that wheatley was cut by both the ny giants and miami before having great success with oakland

10/31/2014 - 2:09pm on oct 29 i got an automated polling phone call ref: brandon
on october 29, i got an automated polling call on my home phone in michigan

the beginning was pretty standard:  if you support rick snyder [r] for governor, press one, if you support [d] mark schauer, press two, etc, then to the us senate race, and so on

then the call turned to the election of msu trustees and u-m regents [i do not recall getting "robo-polled" about those races before, but maybe i have just forgotten]

then the call asked if i strongly approved of dave brandon [press one] approved of db [press two], disapproved db [press three] strongly disapproved [press four]------the strongest negative option i heard was "four"

then the call asked if i thought brady hoke should be fired----yes [press one] no [press two]

i hit 4 for brandon and 1 for hoke

anyway, i was surprised to [apparently] learn that the brandon/hoke situation was important enough to a political party [i am assuming that a political group must have paid for the poll] to poll voters about

could it be that MY strong disapproval of a.d. dave brandon was the final blow from which he could not recover??

this is what i'm going to tell people, anyway

08/08/2014 - 12:19pm colors

i do not get the criticism brandon/the athletic department has taken is relation to the colors worn by michigan.

brandon is a michigan man, he played for michigan and in service to the michigan "brand' he bleeds highlighter-yellow-and-blue

07/05/2014 - 5:35pm kid-safe answer

go home!

12/28/2013 - 11:17am absolutely agree with regard to hemingway and slade

tom hemingway was absolutely the best michigan play-by-play guy [he also had a short run doing piston games on [wjr?].

and tom slade [r. i. p.] was an excellent color guy----i remember an outburst one day where he said something like 'i sure wish we had run plays like this when i was playing'.

11/14/2013 - 1:58pm so when do we get to say the standard things after losing out...

.......that the player is fat, lazy, takes plays off, is not a true "Michigan Man", etc., etc.,?/s

actually, good luck to him, i'm disappointed, but hard to say that alabama is not a good choice, too

11/14/2013 - 1:11pm isn't this the time where......

.......we say that we have heard that Hand is fat, lazy, takes plays off, is not a true "Michigan Man" etc., etc.???

actually, good luck to him

09/26/2013 - 11:37am thomas wilcher once said about campbell

i don't remember when i heard this, but, cass tech hs football coach thomas wilcher was being interviewed on wtka by sam webb and wilcher said that campbell went to defense at michigan because the team needed him there, and that wilcher thought campbell was better suited to the offensive line.

i don't even remember whether rodriguez or hoke was the michigan hc at the time

09/24/2013 - 12:05pm if center is an issue....

if center is an issue [i agree it is] is there any chance of a patrick kugler sighting??

or is he too inexperienced/not yet recovered from injury?

09/24/2013 - 11:51am my experience with weintraub

In August, when the issue of closing main st on football game days was discussed, Mr. Weintraub criticized people who called themselves "citizens" who were opposed to the policy. Mr. Weintraub's point was that a person may be a "resident" of a city but not a "citizen"----which to me implied that the people against the policy must be wrong because they weren't even smart enough to know they were "residents', not "citizens".

I e-mailed the station pointing this out, however, since I share the frustration discussed by other posters in this thread, I [in a not very charitable way] added:

Do I need to add that by far the best portions of the program are when you are not speaking?  [Even the commercials are better.]  While it must be extremely difficult to be on the radio, or in the public eye, day after day, I still must point out that I find you neither entertaining, nor informative.

Holy cow!  Weintraub went off like a rocket.  This little gem earned a ten [fifteen?] minute spot on that morning's show where the above was called the e-mail of the month [year?].

Anyway, I suggest that he has watched a lot of sports, but really has not learned as much as one would hope from what he has seen.

08/14/2013 - 12:33pm does not the name patrick kugler.......

does not the name patrick kugler relieve any panic---at least a little??

06/03/2013 - 12:49pm a pseudo-philosophical question for mr. bandito

would you ever sell a used car to a friend or a relative?

or would you worry about the possibility that they might become angry  if somehow something broke?

06/03/2013 - 12:36pm honestly

there is rarely such a thing as a "good used vehicle"

but whenever you find a car with the right features, mileage, and price------set aside another grand or two------for extra repairs

once you have done that----you can end up with a pretty decent car for a lot less money than a new one

hey!  thanks for bringing up a real good guy #7 mark "jake" jacoby [or were you just throwing a bone to the older fans?]
