OHL hockey is fun to watch, but I'd disagree with the notion that OHL teams are better than most NCAA teams. The OHL may attract more elite talent, but that talent is extremely young. The majority of solid CCHA players would excel in major junior. Take Robbie Czarnik as an example. He had 5 goals and 16 points points in one full season for Michigan. In the OHL this year he had 33 goals and 77 points. If you go to a Plymouth Whalers game and a Michigan game, it's pretty obvious that NCAA players are much further along in their development and maturity.
He may be a decent guy off of the ice, but he and his brother are unbearable on the ice. I played a few beer league games with them, and I wanted to smash my stick over their heads...and we were on the same team.
I'm not counting the hockey team out just yet. They have won three in a row and have shown signs that they could go on a long winning streak. They still have an opportunity to crawl their way back into tournament contention. A sweep this weekend would be a big step in the right direction. Basketball is much more disappointing.
He will not be recruited heavily for the next 6 months. National signing day is less than two months from now. Also, Devin has repeatedly said that he is 100% committed to Michigan.
I thought that JB Fitzgerald looked great at times on Saturday. He seemed fast, and he was all over the field. Hopefully he's a guy that can get it together for 2010.
Jennifer Granholm is Canadian, so it's not unprecedented. Plus Stevie Y has U.S. citizenship, but I don't see him giving up a front office hockey job for politics.
It's great to see that the boys from Pahokee have taken advantage of one of the few opportunities that they were given. I'm looking forward to watching these guys over the next few years!
The guy was absolutely nuts in the CCHA semi final against Alaska. I was sitting in my seat just waiting for him to snap. I would love to see him play an agitator role in the NHL.
I don't see an issue with the comment. He slipped up and made a stupid mistake. The issue is that this will be completely dismissed by most media outlets. If someone else said this (Rush Limbaugh, George Bush, etc.), there would be people calling for their heads.
As a fan of the former WDFN, I find it very difficult to listen to any of the on-air personalities at the Ticket. I'll take your word for it that this was a classless act by Valenti (no surprise there), but the tipping point for me was national signing day. I listened to several hours of Michigan bashing and proclamations of MSU's recruiting dominance. It was ridiculous.
I paid $300 for a pair for the 2007 game. If I remember correctly, there were plenty on StubHub at similar prices during the week leading up to the game. Of course it's nice to get the tickets well in advance, but prices will drop significantly.
