You can't expect equality…

You can't expect equality unless you are willing to grant it.

If the people you scorn are overrepresented in Congress it is because people who are not old, fat rich and white voted for them, too.

Keep playing the victim card if it makes you feel good, but it is a loser's game.

I like the way you celebrate…

I like the way you celebrate diversity with your racist, sexist, agist remarks while hiding behind a pseudonym and a cartoon.

The pressure will build…

The pressure will build again when Ohio State travels to Jerry's World to play TCU.

It is virtually guaranteed to be a College Game Day pick:

  • Two ranked teams
  • Playing at night
  • On ABC
  • And Meyer's first game back on the sidelines

The signs that show up alone should provide Emmy-winning entertainment. And you know the talking heads will find a lot to talk about concerning current events.

The stench of corruption…

The stench of corruption coming out of Columbus is unbearable.

He is the Richard Nixon of college football:

--"That statement is no longer operative."

--"I have plausible deniability."

--"I am not a crook."

It is unlikely that the Blue…

It is unlikely that the Blue Ribbon Commission named to investigate the Scarlet Letter doings of the OSU coaching staff have had much chance to meet let alone come to a conclusion. That is, if they are going to thoroughly gather and analyze the evidence and come to a fair and logical conclusion.

If there is going to be a press conference today that will deliver bad (for OSU) news, look for that bomb to drop right around 5 pm EDT.

I have spent 44 years in the media and communications industry and this is a common practice for delivering bad news. When you do it late during Friday business hours you get the news out in time for the evening TV news but do not give the press time to do much followup. Also, the weekend is a quiet hard news period. The ink-stained wretches and their ilk want Saturday and Sunday off just like the rest of us. These factors combine to mute the story.

It also gives the PR guys and their overlords time to come up with the spin that will put them in the best light come Monday.

A Pensioners Progress

In 1989 I was managing editor for AutoWeek magazine and attended the press preview for the first ever ZR-1 Corvette. This car was so special that GM held the event in France. This ultimate Chevy was a fair match for Ferraris and Lamborghinis of the time, generating 385 hp and 370 lb ft of torque. And it cost tens of thousands less than those Italians.

Today I am retired and drive a 2018 Ford F-150 which I bought to pull our travel trailer. Its 375-hp 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 falls an eyelash short of the 380-hp dohc 5.7-liter V8 of that ZR-1, but it also generates 470 lb ft of torque--100 lb ft more than that Vette. And its sticker price, fully loaded, was only $9,000 more than the ZR-1's MSRP of approx. 55,000 1989 dollars.

Just bought a travel trailer…

Just bought a travel trailer and needed a truck to pull it. Bought a big, blue F-150 and it seemed natural to name it Mo' Vaggoner.
