If this makes you sick, go and read the posts from last year about how the portal is going to save Juwan and M was going to win at least 20 games.

I'd shoot higher, but this isn't a dumb post.

He's a Toledo-based reporter. I don't know how plugged in he is, and the real question that his tweet leaves unanswered is whether there's any indication that Ono will move on Warde or if as it relates to Strack, his message is just "well that's just like your opinion, man.gif".

It's very hard for Pete to eat shit. Not sure if you've noticed, but his body is shaped like a penis. The mechanics of a literal penis eating shit are just really tough. Anyway, those are some thoughts on a clearly brilliant man whose dispassionate is almost always right.

I regret that I have but one point to give you, OP. May your fine deeds serve as a model and inspiration to others as we transition from OT season to "dear god, how can the mods handle this?" season.

The only thing missing from…

The only thing missing from this fantastic graphic is a slightly more overt version of the "f you, NCAA" subtext. Like a hand in a fist, middle finger extended and the letters N C A A on each exposed lower knuckle.

I have no words. Except…

I have no words. Except those.

Other than Castillo who was…

Other than Castillo who was a good not great fighter, and Hatton, who would've gone nowhere if wasn't from the UK, name one of those fighters who was even close to his prime when Mayweather agreed to a fight. Not one.

Floyd never would've taken…

Floyd never would've taken the fight. His best skill was racking up wins over brand names after it was clear they were shot.

Funny take when Floyd's…

Funny take when Floyd's worst performance was against JLC, who was good but a borderline hall of famer and then Floyd did literally nothing for the rest of his career. Part of being the GOAT as being willing to take on a challenge. Floyd has the worst record of tough fights of any great fighter ever.

I think that's a bad take…

I think that's a bad take. Spence is a fantastic fighter. Crawford made Spence look bad; Spence isn't bad. That Crawford performance was one of the best of the last 25 years. Hard to overstate what a masterpiece that was.

Mayweather cared more about…

Mayweather cared more about money than legacy. And you have to count that against him. He refused to fight anyone like Crawford. If Mayweather was 30 today he'd wait 4 years to fight Crawford so that Mayweather would be still in his prime and Crawford would be at or near retirement. I give Floyd no credit for leaving the mystery of what would've happened if he ever took a decent fight. Hell, the most trouble he ever was in was against Mosley. A prime Mosley may have had enough in the tank to take Floyd out. Wasn't Mosely's fault that he was practically a grandpa.

He's not the GOAT. He can…

He's not the GOAT. He can put himself in the conversation with a few more performances like last night. Problem for him is he'll need to go up in weight to be challenged and right now there aren't any great fighters at 154. But at least unlike Floyd, he backs away from no challenge and doesn't wait until name fighters are 5 years beyond their prime to put a good name on his resume. Crawford will take on anyone. Ultimately, his resume is likely to be handicapped by the fact that most of the other GOAT contenders had more hall of fame level fighters to beat in their primes. At 35, Bud just may not be able to get enough fights in even if there were enough fighters to take on.

I will say, however, that he's a must watch. He moves btwn southpaw and traditional the way few ever have. He creates angles that shouldn't be possible. He looks like he has 4 arms--since he can jab so effectively with both hands, you never know where either jabs are power shots are coming from. And his footwork is so good, it's borderline impossible for his opponents to move effectively. I don't blame Spence for just coming forward because I don't know what else anyone can do.

Last thing: you have to remember a lot of great fighters lose it all at once and you never see it coming. Recent examples are Pacquiao and RJJ. I still think RJJ is the best fighter I've ever seen.

Not sure that we could get…

Not sure that we could get Mulcahy and Reeves, however because they sort of fill the same role and both want enough time on the court to use next year as an NBA audition. I have no inside knowledge, but I bet if we get one that closes the door for the other.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Again, don't let facts get…

Again, don't let facts get in your way.

First, points aren't the only measure of a player's contribution. Neither, LeDee or Parrish started and collectively those players combined to score (your preferred measure) half of the overall points that Michigan needs to replace on a percentage basis. On Miami is 14%.

The trajectory is bad, has gotten progressively worse, and our best player is transferring because even he agrees we can't compete. You've yet to identify a reason to keep Howard apart from his incumbency. But I'm working backward...

It's conjecture, but the…

It's conjecture, but the inside word is that Hunter made good NIL, and that he left bc he didn't think the team could be competitive/wasn't getting along with the team and staff.

Your right: the measure of…

Your right: the measure of the success of the men's basketball coach at the University of Michigan is whether I could do a better job. And you're wrong about the coaches in the Big Ten. Eight B1G teams made the tournament this year. That's most. And Michigan, which did not make the tournament just lost its three best players. But please, tell me about how no every other team in the NCAA has a problem yet plenty of brand name schools have better teams present and future.

Your examples were Miami and…

Your examples were Miami and San Diego State. Those examples don't fit your narrative. Their transfers had primarily transferred two years prior. We're talking about next year. If your argument is that Howard needs to be given two years, say that. But you can't use those two schools as examples of what Michigan can do next year because the numbers just don't match. This isn't football where three transfers may not be much. In college basketball you typically have only an eight man rotation.

That's nonsense. It's not my…

That's nonsense. It's not my job to find coaches for Michigan. That's like saying you can't have an opinion because "you never played at that level." Georgetown just hired a coach we supposedly could've had four years ago. I don't need to dial up coaches and ask them whether they're interested in Michigan to surmise that there are better choices out there. The extension of your logic is to never fire someone underperforming because at the time of the firing you can't know with certainty that the replacement will be better. You have a standard and when it's not met you try another solution. That's college basketball coaching. There are lower tier coaches that successfully move up all the time and the university employs people to identify such coaches when the present one looks like he's going to continue his poor performance.

To put it differently: you can't be confident in saying there's not a better alternative. I thought Juwan would succeed. He hasn't. You move on. Welcome to private employment.

You identified what he is…

You identified what he is doing a poor job of. He got guys to the NBA, but that didn't translate to wins. His job is to win.

And then you doubled down on "the same situation as everyone else." Other teams are trying to retain players and develop talent while dealing with departures, but they're winning while doing so. Juwan is not. In the last two years he had 4 early entrants and a pseudo-All American, yet we were barely above .500, and appear to have the talent of a MAC team next year. That's not "shit happens." He's being paid $3.4 million per year to ensure shit doesn't happen.

What person wouldn't take…

What person wouldn't take their seasons over ours?

I'm not moving the goalposts…

I'm not moving the goalposts. We're talking about next year. You can't bring in someone from the portal next year whose been at Michigan for more than a year. You can't possibly be arguing that if we have a bad season next year we still should keep Juwan.

It's not binary. Belein isn…

It's not binary. Belein isn't coming back. It's not him or Juwan; it's Juwan or someone else we plausibly could get. And the latter is better than Juwan given the available evidence.

Similarly, the relevant question isn't what Beilein would've done recently. The question is what MICHIGAN as a school can do/should have done.

"All you need to do is" and …

"All you need to do is" and "we can just copy everyone else" aren't good solutions or justifications when everyone else is supposedly doing it but you're not.
