There was definitely…

There was definitely foreshadowing to Saul's death... possibly it was meant to be symbolic of the death of Gene, or perhaps that the person (Jimmy/Saul/Gene) would die.

When the Breaking Bad flashback in the RV transitioned from the empty grave to Gene lying in bed, there was a moment where Gene was lying in the grave.  This is definitely not just a coincidence. I am also of the mind that the series is not going to have a happy ending.

We all know at this point that the Gene timeline ("future/current") is in black and white and it makes the time jumps to "past" easier to notice before anything really happens.  But it also may let you know that there is more coming with respect to the "past" timeline.  My guess is that the timelines will meet up in the final episode and then the Gene timeline will be color.  Also notice that in the black and white, there is no music/score and everything feels very isolated and quiet, very "cold."  Certainly symbolic of Gene's life.  The more clues I pick up on the harder it is to try and figure out what the heck is going to happen over the next two episodes!!

I hear this is an absolute quad killer, but super gorgeous.  Really want to try it.  Mount Lemon marathon in Tucson is another "downhill" marathon that sounds pretty good.

You can get into Tokyo…

You can get into Tokyo through a lottery as well.  There is also a "fundraising" method where you essentially pay 100k yen to do the race.  Apparently, it's much easier to get in through lottery as a non-Japanese citizen.

I used to do a ton of triathlons but recently have been drawn a lot more to running.  Have done the Freep a few times but not sure I'll every do it again.  All the excitement is front-loaded for the half marathon runners and the back half just sucks.

Just ran Bayshore a couple weeks ago and LOVED that course.  Right along Little Traverse Bay.  Beautiful course.  Will do it again for sure.  Last October I ran Milwaukee lakeshore marathon which was point to point.  Another great course with terrific support.  Marathon-only course which I liked a lot.  The Austin Marathon (TX) is a great course but it's in Feb so you have to be willing to train hard in the winter.  Going to try the "Last Chance BQGR" this year.  It's a loop marathon designed to put people into Boston.  Looks like a "fun" marathon.

A buddy and I are aiming to run 1 marathon per month for 12 months (starting last month).  Anyone else want to join? :0)

Shorter runs - I really like the Father's Day run in Plymouth but this year they don't have the triple, which kind of sucks (1mi, 5k, 10k back to back to back).  This year I'm just going to pace my 7 year old in the 5k.

Ha! So true.  When I got my acceptance for the PhD program (in 2003), my first thought was "when do student tickets go on sale??!!"  I did not join a seating Group and ended up with a pretty decent seat.  Got to know the young students around me and always had a fun time.  Often took family and/or friends to games without any issues.

My first game as a grad student was also my first game ever in the Big House.  I showed up about an hour before the start of the game.  2003 was a really good year.

I hate the Challenger with a passion.  Really, I hate just about any Dodge vehicle but the Challenger holds a special level of disdain.  It's bulky, heavy, has a fat ass and is stupid looking (insert Rosie O'Donnell joke?).

Mustang is fast and fun but has terrible brakes and iffy steering, especially at high speed.

Haven't driven a Camaro in a while so by default I'll take that one.

Prefer my sports cars to be of the 2-seater variety.  I'd take the base model Corvette over any of the upper-tier versions of the cars listed above.  Easy choice.

Michigan dirt, tar, and other road debris.

Oh, like fan stuff?  Block M window sticker... but with window tint it doesn't show up.  Fail on my part.  I need to do something different.  I do have a UM Alumni license plate bracket and the "M" license plate.  So I guess that has to count for something.  How else would I have everyone else know that I went to UM??  That's all part of the Michigan arrogance, right?  :0)

College football would be boring without villains such as Urban.  Bring him back, bring him back, bring him back!!!

Have always hated USC [and UM doesn't play them very often] so I can't think of a better place to have him coach.

Besides, that would pretty much cement his legacy as a con artist.

I bough a 2003 BMW Z4 3.0i last August.  Haven't had much chance to drive it this year... maybe 100 miles.  It's a fun car though.  Didn't really want to get a convertible but my wife allowed the purchase of this model so I jumped at it.  I have to say it's pretty great to drive with the top down.  And even though it's not very rare, it does get a lot of looks.  My next "fun" car will likely be a coupe but I'm enjoying my time withe the convertible right now.

Had it done almost 5 years…

Had it done almost 5 years ago.  It was a really uncomfortable process... the shot was the worst part.  And I felt really hot the whole time.  My scrotum was black for a few days after.  What the hell did he do to it?!?!  My wife gave me zero sympathy.  I was just careful about picking up my kids (2) and not doing it for a couple days.

I make this sound like a bad process but it wasn't.  I was eager to have it done and I'm very glad I did it.  Would NEVER do a reversal.  No issues with respect to the aftermath and sexual life.  Just make sure you go in to get tested AS INSTRUCTED!  The procedure I underwent meant removing a piece of tubing, sealing those edges, and then there is a tiny chance those ends would ever meet and grow back together.  If you have a choice, do it this way.

That shit is funny right there.  :0)

Good mention of the Huracan…

Good mention of the Huracan EVO... I'm very excited to see that one in action.  Looks terrific and I'm eager to see the performance numbers.

Buying new cars is not something I'll probably ever do again.  Why pay for the depreciation when someone else can do it for me?!  I did, however, buy a car in 2018.  A 2003 BMW Z4 3.0i with 6 speed manual.  Only got it in August so my time with it has been limited.  Can't wait for the spring.  Love it so far, but if I'm honest there are a few other cars that I would buy in a second and  sell the Z4 if my wife lets me.  :0)

Otherwise, I'm very happy with my 2007 4Runner Sport... and actual off-road capable SUV.  I love that it's old school, doesn't have a bunch of electronic shit I don't need or want.  It's just a great truck with 175k miles on it.  Planning to double that mileage before all is said and done.

I read this in the Alumni magazine and was amazed.  Can you imagine the loneliness of this journey?!  Not only that, but the will to continue after all those downturns.  Certainly impressive.

My predictioni is that I…

My predictioni is that I will not watch the game... I'll probably forget about it and my wife will watch the Bachelor and I'll go to bed early.  Gosh that is sad on multiple levels.

That said, I'll watch the highlights on YouTube tomorrow morning before working out.  The final score will be 2-0 when Clemson intercepts a hail mary on the last play of the game at the 5 yard line... only to run backwards and get tackled in the endzone.  Bama wins again, again, again, again. :0)

It's a really good point.  I hope it's true that the players can have some sort of influence here... if not, they we may end up with a locker room that doesn't buy into what coach is selling.  Please hire an OC and step away from play calling Jim.  Please.

Good response.  I have kept…

Good response.  I have kept reef aquariums for about 15 years and have seen this type of "behavior" firsthand (I've got a PhD but it's in fisheries management, not coral ecology/physiology).  Fragging is an easy way to multiply coral colonies, share with other "reefers", and even make some money.  I have often found that when you create a frag, the cut site on the original colony will not only heal quickly, but it will also promote additional growth.  I don't know the molecular reason for this, but my assumption is that the rapid growth rate is due to the coral being in a state of "recovery" for an extended period of time.  When the coral frags meet up with another it continues this recovery growth for a time.  I've often found coral tips to "stagnate" and growth seems to cease.  But when I click off the tips of those "stale" branches, I see an immediate growth response and often a number of branches will sprout from those cut sites.  Anyhoo, this is a great finding even though it is surprising it hasn't been promoted for decades as one would think.  Thanks to the OP for sharing!

I have zero interest in that…

I have zero interest in that game.  To be frank, I don't have much interest in Michigan's bowl game either.  It feels like the end of the 2006 season, when Michigan backed into the Rose Bowl.  Maybe I'm wrong and the team will respond like the 2015 team (after another ass-kicking from OSU).  But I kind of feel like several players will be sitting out and the team won't put their best foot forward... probably get picked apart again by a vaunted passing attack.  I find myself thinking, "I wish I didn't care so much."

This is my rational thought, not my emotions, believe it or not.  Regardless, Go Blue forever!!!

Didn't see this in the play by play above, but did anyone else notice that on Wisconsin's scoring drive (1st Q) they had 7 offensive linemen?!  It was 2-3 plays but I saw that and thought, "oh shit!  I hope they don't keep doing this."  Thanks Mr. Paul!

That was an all-around fun game to attend.  Wished for, but did not foresee, a beating like we saw on Saturday night.  Loved it.

I also thought that the original ticket would be useless... but now I'm not so sure.  My tickets for NU were StubHub and the sellers came to their seats during the game.  Not sure how they got in, but they acted as if WE were improperly sitting in their seats.  Then we said "we bought them yesterday" and they said "oh you bought our tickets... thanks" and walked off.  So they sold their tickets and still got in to the game.

Agree with you!  It was not…

Agree with you!  It was not a fluky game at all.  Being in the stadium, Michigan fans never really seemed to think it would be a loss.  They had control of the game starting in the second quarter but it was a slog to finally take the lead.  To me, that was better for the team's morale than a blowout would have been.  Got punched in the mouth a few times, but came back and kept pushing, despite all the penalties!!  There were a lot of times in the game where Michigan teams past would have folded.

I'll be making my first trip…

I'll be making my first trip (from SE Michigan) to Evanston and meeting up with my brother and sister (from Wisconsin).  Looking forward to seeing a bunch of Michigan fans and hoping/confident we'll have more than 1/2 of the fans in the stadium.  More than anything just want to see a solid outing from Michigan in all 3 phases of the game (duh).

friend designed it

An old friend of mine designed the course. Pretty cool!

My goal

It is my goal to bike across the lower 48 within the next 10 years.  I won't mind taking the time off to do it.  Potential employers (and current for me) would see that as a positive that a very small proportion of society ever contemplates.  It speaks to your character.  I think it's common to take 1 month minimum which is still nearly 100 miles per day.  Even more optimistic would be to race in the Race Across America - goes from San Diego to Atlantic City, NJ and you only get 12 days 2 hrs.  Winners typically do it in 8 days.  It's crazy.

count me in

I've wanted Miles here for a while. I'd love to see it.

Thanks

I'm glad to get that right finally.  It must have been a rumor back in the day that I still remember as being "correct."

#2

I'm pretty sure this was the 2nd Ultimate Warrior... the first one died shortly after taking over the spotlight way back when.  True, yes?  Weird!

Indeed

Very well put!  And let's not forget that an OC worth his salt can adapt his offense to the players he's got.  Michigan has a terrific athlete in Devin Gardner.  I hope Nuss can take advantage of Devin's talents.

I don't feel great about it

I'd rather they play a better opponent becuase Michigan seems to play up or down to the competition.  It'll be a close game.  Michigan plays terribly out west.  Michigan probably loses in annoying fashion.  I wish I had reasons to make me feel otherwise.  Still, you can bet your ass I'll be watching and cheering on my team and HOPING for something good.

Poop, I thought I had that

Poop, I thought I had that right.  Thanks for correcting.  I'll have to check out that book as well... sounds great.

new times

I work next door (museums annex... also to be torn down) and will also have to relocate. The reason both buildings are going is they are building another biology/science building. Ruthven will be renovated into new "pay to play" labs. This area will look quite different.

Cadel seems to be riding very well this year... I think he'll be in stronger contention than he was last year.  Cadel is the team leader so they'll ride for him.  It could get interesting later in the race though.  I have a feeling that if last year were to repeat itself, Cadel would have his team support TVG and go for the podium.

Definitely expecting an

Definitely expecting an awesome Tour this year.  Lots of big guns are back (though Wiggins is out again) and the course is fricking amazing.  A mountain-top finish on the penultimate stage (versus the usual TT) will be very cool, especially if the GC is a close call.  I'm very excited for le Tour to begin in case it wasn't apparent!

Wow, that kid is fast.  I would absolutely love it if the kid chose Michigan... but I'm with Ace and don't think we'll see him leave Louisiana for Ann Arbor.  Let's hope I'm wrong!

Awesome timing!

I just watched "An Unexpected Journey" last night!

12-0

I honestly can see them winning all of those games next year... as long as they play sound, disciplined football.

Cap one perhaps

But man it's going to be against one of Georgia, Florida, S. or LSU.  Shit, I hope Michigan has ALL of their players back and fully healthy for that one!

It does seem odd

Or amazing, however you want to look at it.  I thought he was severly concussed after that hit.  He couldn't even stand on his own.  I really hope, for his sake, that there's no Tomfoolery going on with the coaching staff and doctors so they will clear him to play.  In all honesty though, it's great he's been cleared as that would indicate that there's nothing wrong.  I hate to see those players get hurt, no matter who they play for.

This one...

is the biggest mystery to me.  I thought for sure they'd get dropped out of the rankings this week.  Both Texas and WVU got their asses handed to them in both losses.  The Big Ten rep is the reason for Michigan being ranked where they are... but I do NOT think those two teams should be ranked ahead of UM.  Just annoying.

Yes, win indeed

These players seem to have a great focus each week.  No let down against Purdue or Illinois even after each game became a sure victory.  I see this game playing out a lot like last year's game at Illinois.  You never really felt like Illinois would win because the defense kept shutting them down.  Eventually, Michigan's offense will put up a bunch of points and put the game out of reach.  Lincoln at night... I don't see that as being enough for Nebraska to beat Michigan this year.

Michigan wins

Michigan 28

Notre Dame 20

I agree

Even before this game I thought 9-3 would be about right.  They do have depth back there and I think they'll turn into a good unit once again.  We just have to hope they don't lose any more starters.  And I'm not convinced that ND or Neb are losses by any stretch.

justin.tv

I used this site to watch The Game last year and it worked out well.  I recommend it... it's also free.

Actually, I agree with you

I will get behind Hoke's decision either way on this one.  But it bothers me how everyone is so quick to be judge, jury, and executioner.  I really don't think it will be a huge difference if Fitz is not playing.  I think Rawls will stand in quite well.
