You don't lose legs due to nerve damage. That would cause pain and make it difficult for him to use the leg properly. You lose legs because of vascular injuries, which are incredibly common in knee dislocations (up to 40%).

04/04/2018 - 3:33pm My understanding is that

My understanding is that there actually is a technique that DOs consider "legitimate medical treatment" called coccyx manipulation that Nassar claimed he was doing. MSU's error wasn't in understanding if this treatment was proper treatment or not, it was basically everything else involved in the case. If the doctors were asked if coccyx manipulation is a real treatment, and they said yes, they are on fairly solid ground. If they were asked about everything else, notsomuch.

04/04/2018 - 2:02pm There’s zero peer reviewed

There’s zero peer reviewed scientific data for a lot of treatment. There’s even significant evidence a lot of treatments cause harm. The question is if those treatments are part of some scope of practice, and I believe that they are because DOs are weird.

02/03/2018 - 1:00pm The freep doesn't actually

The freep doesn't actually equate the two whatsoever. I suggest people actually read the article before getting their pitchforks. The freep, like Brian earlier this week, is attacking the large amount of institutional secrecy in both university systems. OP is massively out of line.

Remember when Kelly played Crist with an obvious concussion in 2010? Crist had vision loss, memory loss and cognitive function loss, but never actually went through a concussion protocol (per Kelly the next week).

IIRC Michigan law requires UM to take more classes from CC. I took a summer course at schoolcraft while I was an undergrad at UM to take advantage of that. Might be wrong though, this was a decade plus ago.

Snape would be a tremendous hire, even if he is a Newcastle fan. Great guy and a great coach.

I was a fan of the Daley hire (not Burns getting fired), but I can't see how you can justify him staying considering his results.

10/05/2016 - 11:58pm No, schools do not have to

No, schools do not have to give a scholarship. Schools can take it away for any non athletic reasons, like 'violation of team rules'. Funnily enough, some players who didn't meet expecations at Bama and Clemson suddenly got booted for that.

09/27/2016 - 3:16pm Not to take anything away

Not to take anything away from your work, but I've really enjoyed rtsportsupload's channel. It seems to be an automatically generated play by play of the game with only game action. The cool bit is that it's up the night of games. After missing the entire football Saturday because of work it was a lifesaver. Watched the MSU-Wisc, UM-PSU, and Standford-UCLA games in ~an hour.

I played for Snape. He's a great guy and a great coach, especially for the offensive minded players. Didn't realize he was having so much success at Butler. Bringing him home isn't quite the right word, because he's an Oakland alum, but bringing him back sounds great to me.

Love Burns too, but I can't imagine just jumping back in to coaching after so many years gone.

08/09/2016 - 10:41pm It'd be most helpful to host

It'd be most helpful to host the games in cities that didn't have to completely upgrade or add new infrastructure. The international competitions that lost a lot of money and left many abandoned buildings were held in cities or countries that simply weren't ready for what a modern major international competition demands. I'm thinking Athens, South Africa, UAE, Brazil (WC), Brazil (Olympics), and so on.

More established cities and countries have had far less problems hosting these events.

08/04/2016 - 3:30pm WAR actually does measure

WAR actually does measure versatility. Your worth increases the more you can play harder to replace positions. Furthermore, Romine is a shortstop. Every shortstop in the league can play every other infield position. I'd be shocked if the vast majority of them can't play CF at Romine's defensive level, which has actually been shitty (UZR -23 runs (-2.3 WAR) per 150 games). It's not some special attribute that only he possesses, we just use him in a different way.

08/04/2016 - 11:14am Who is being super critical

Who is being super critical of Romine? This article is praising him for finally getting his season numbers above the replacement level. It's not impressive.

08/04/2016 - 11:03am I hate these kinds of

I hate these kinds of articles. No, the guy who is worth 0.1 WAR is not an unsung hero. He's just a generic dude on the team. Are we going to talk about the unsung hero Anthony Gose (0.2 WAR) or unsung hero Kyle Ryan (0.3 WAR)?

It's the ZOMG DONG KELLY all over again, and it's pure BS.

07/02/2016 - 9:39am I don't think this is going

I don't think this is going to be a problem. They're doing a very good job of limiting his innings already.

If it does hit his limit though, you have to shut him down.  You have him under team control for the next five years, and should not risk him getting a major injury that ruins his career.

04/22/2016 - 3:04pm MLS has been a massive boon

MLS has been a massive boon for the youth development process that Pulisic took part of. The USMNT falling a bit is due to a lot of key players getting older and not good enough to play in high european leagues, not because you suddenly get worse playing in the MLS.

Pulisic also already got 7 appearances under his belt for a champions league squad at 17 years old in one of the best leagues of the world. I don't think you have to worry about him going to MLS anytime soon.

04/07/2016 - 11:58pm BME 400 level fluids class

Was that the BME 400 level fluids class? We'd get these take home exams that required these obscure trig identities to solve these diff eqs. The exam took like 40 hours of work to do and you often ended up with absolutely nothing because you just kept hitting walls. The year after us in 2009 decided to "collaborate", and apparently all got some minor punishments for cheating.

10/12/2015 - 5:10pm I live in New Orleans. Cooter

I live in New Orleans. Cooter Brown's is not a Michigan bar. It's a general sports bar with really good oysters. It is a good spot to catch the game but you'll have to deal with a bunch of other games on around you. Prytania Bar is the closest thing to a Michigan bar in the city. The alumni group has gone there a few times. I've been there on non-game days, but never for a game. I prefer to watch games huddled by myself in the dark waiting for pain.... might have to revise that policy a bit.

As for sports bars closer to the quarter.... Manning's is pretty good right by Harrah's. That's all I really got for ya, I don't really end up in the quarter watching football. I'm usually near black out drunk watching the absurdity that is bourbon street or hitting up frenchman.

09/16/2015 - 10:58pm You only get 9.9 scholarships

You only get 9.9 scholarships per team, there are really stupid substitution rules, and the best players don't play college ball.

College soccer is full of stupid variance. Give Shaka a chance. It sucks what happened to Burns and I owe a ton to him... but we can't just turn back the clock. I doubt he'd want to do anything that hurt the program he built from the ground up.

03/10/2015 - 11:28pm European teams simply have

European teams simply have full pro youth academies. You can get schooling, but you don't play soccer at a top youth level for any university. There are a lot of leagues/teams out there, but this is in reference to the major ones.

These kids also can get paid and whatnot.

03/10/2015 - 9:50pm Sigh I had no idea about how

Sigh I had no idea about how Burns was let go. I owe that man a lot, and it's tough to see how the program has kind of stumbled. I thought Daley was a great hire at the time, but had no idea how Burns was let go. I also think you guys are overselling how poorly Daley has done.

However, it's important to note how fucking insane mens college soccer is. The fact that you only get 9.9 scholarships per team means parody rules way more than other sports. Very few kids get full scholarships. Add in the absolutely fucking stupid substitution rules and you get a crappy ass product. There's going to be a lot of variance.

College soccer is going to fall into even further irrelevancy if things don't change so that they allow for the pseudo-minor leagues that other sports provide. If the NCAA doesn't make moves to allow for more scholarships and not allow re-entry substitutions that allow for higher quailty soccer, the MLS will further develop their youth academies to the point where college soccer is pointless.

Michigan got better every year under richrod.... and was fired. Your laughable excuse of it didn't work at Michigan is just wrong. We didn't work for richrod. The stupid people around the program and in the program actively destroyed him. We are where we are now because of our collective failures, not his.

11/05/2014 - 10:51am Wow that table is pretty

Wow that table is pretty insane. I'm sure the schedule dictates they can't actually jump up to second without everyone else tying and Maryland losing, but they will have a fighting chance in the tournament to get a NCAA spot.

Winning this game actually has pretty big implications. The tournament is at local sites this year (a change), so being #1-4 gets you a home game. Semi finals go to the highest seed as well, so every spot counts.

10/21/2014 - 2:32pm Talent doesn't always win out

Talent doesn't always win out is a super bad response shows a fundamental lack of understanding how probability works. If 10 teams play games that they're 95% to win, one loses about 40 percent of the time. Upsets happen 'all the time' in college football because of the number of games played far more than anything else.

There may be some sort of magic for getting an upset somewhere, but it sure as shit isn't going to have anything to do with press conference statements.

05/01/2014 - 6:44pm Doing well in calc 3 really
