Well MSU did get the top recruit the past couple of years so it's probably less annoying than that (though 24/7 does have Burbridge as the top recruit in the state on their latest re-rank).
Plus if you actually want to go back a decade, in 2000 Michigan State beat Florida...UF was a 5, but MSU was the prohibitive favorite after KMart broke his leg before the tourney.
There should be some rule that a conference has to have a team in the top 15 or 20 or something in order to receive their automatic BCS bid. UConn (or any team from the Big East for that matter) in a BCS game would be a joke.
This thread is hilarious. Only here would the d-coordinator of a team that gave up 106 points over the last two weeks be defended. The defense didn't look good, it looked like dog crap...has the defense never seen a wheel route before? It's not like Zook invented it before this game.
The stats don't even reflect the entire ass-beating. UM only had 76 total second quarter yards outside the Hail Mary. Also, MSUs stalled early drives were the stopped more by MSU mistakes than UM's play. The first drive MSU had two first downs and was a midfield when in second and seven we had a false start and on third down we had a fumbled snap. The second drive we had just completed a long pass to Linthicum into UM territory when we got a hold on first down; instead of second and seven, we had first and twenty. UM did get a sack but we were already way behind the chains. And of course, MSU stepped off the gas in the third quarter up 21. MSU could easily have added more points and yardage, especially if they wouldn't have called Linthicum on that BS unnecessary roughness call.
Sorry, Chait. Your delusional perception is not reality.
I don't know, look at the box score, seems like Michigan got pretty dominated to me. 2/11 on 3rd down. Outgained by 159 yards. Outrushed by 87 yards. -3 on turnovers. MSU had the ball for 11:50 more than UM. MSU averaged 3.6 more yards per pass, and 1.1 more yards per rush. Seems to me you're gonna lose pretty much every game that has that kind of statistical disparity, and that the games won't be particularly close.
The "couple of bad plays away" argument is so terrible when it comes to football. This game was a couple of bounces away from a 45-10 MSU win too, but what happened happened. This is why turnovers are so important in football. MSU's gameplan was to make Denard throw, that's why there were 3 picks.
This guy is such a clown. "If Michigan didn't make any mistakes, they totally would have killed MSU!" "If Denard hadn't gotten his foot stepped on, UM would have blown out MSU!" If my aunt had a cock, she'd be my uncle.
Yeah, seems reasonable to me considering it's the first real defense he faced, and he didn't do that well. If he puts up big numbers against Iowa's (better) defense next week, then he should be back in the conversation.
You have to play pretty consistently amazing to win the Heisman. It shouldn't be a shock that he dropped a few spots after throwing 3 INTs and being held to 4 YPC. He hadn't played against a defense that good - and Iowa and OSU coming up have better defenses than State. He'll have plenty of time against quality opponents to get himself back in the race, or drop further down depending on how he plays.
MSU - Illinois' heads will be too big after the big win in Happy Valley, and MSU is 6-0 in the two weeks following the UM game. MSU's defensive strength is against the run, and Illinois doesn't have anyone like Denard.
Minny - Tough game to call, but I think Minny isn't HORRIBLE (they tend to keep their games close), and Purdue may be too pleased with themselves after beating a decent team without Marve, but this could go either way.
Iowa - The D is just too tough. I'm not sold on Iowa, but I think they cover - O will be good enough to put up points, and the D will be good enough to contain Denard and co - will be high scoring for an Iowa game though.
OSU - Just not completely sold on Wisconsin vs. tough defenses. Not sold on OSU's offense either, but there should be enough in the tank to cover against UW.
MSU is 6-0 in the two weeks after the Michigan game under Dantonio, they'll be ready. And Illinois beating PSU by 20 is the best thing they could have done to put MSU on notice that they're a good team.
It's certainly reasonable to expect him not to have the worst pass defense in FBS, regardless of personnel losses (whether you blame that on him or not).

He started against Colorado, MSU was his 2nd game starting.
Michigan
MSU 35
Michigan 17
I've seen this movie before.

Boo, I figured this was about the rape-friendly UM starter who is conspicuously absent from this board.

Yes, he is not a good football coach, thank you.
Creepy...
Good thing Schefter doesn't work for the New York Times, huh?
I hope he's right, this would be the best thing that could happen for Michigan football, RR is a clown.
I haven't read this whole thread, but anyone notice the UM football helmet on Adam's bookcase while reporting on Mike Singletary?

I feel just like you, only opposite in every way.
It would be good, because it would mean that RR was not Michigan's coach anymore.
Interesting that Denard won POY for the coaches, yet wasn't the 1st or 2nd team All-BT QB.
I'd rather have a good team than a Heisman candidate.
.
It's almost as if he has a football team to coach...
Yes, that was a stupid thing to post. Harbaugh is still the much better choice going forward.
Better than I expected at least.
How did UM do against Oregon the last time they played? Harbaugh seems to be a much better coach, so that's what I'm concerned about.
Those are very specific criteria. And RR won't be sitting with any Heisman candidates in NY.

Well he's right about one thing...Harbaugh would be WAY better than RR.
Whoa, get a load of captain bringdown!
And he referred to Rodriguez as "DickRod"
This kid is awesome.
So what you're saying is that the defense has sucked in every Big Ten game?
A big win? That game was an embarrassment to football.

Look at me, I read Pat Forde!
Sparty was nearly a touchdown dog against Michigan too.
Denard is a much better RB, but Tate is the better QB.
How would you respond to this MSU post?

Maybe they mean yards per carry? In which case he's tied for 5th.

God forbid we judge him based on what happened on the football field.
Why wouldn't they? When's the last time a UM coach started 0-3 against MSU?
What up Rishi and Ryan. OHS tennis rules!

25 less people came, that's how.

And Wisconsin convincingly. Not to mention ND, but they kind of suck this year.
I doubt it. Dantonio is 6-0 in the 2 weeks after the Michigan game during his coaching tenure.
