I have a son on Parris Island.

Thank you to all the Marines on this board.

11/08/2013 - 3:06pm End Scene

And now, a musical interlude from the 1987 Elaine May masterpiece Ishtar...

All the folks that don't have money

Are they poor?  Oh well, sure.

But that ain't poverty baby --

That's not the not of the Have Not Blues!

People have not got soles on their shoes

But I have not got you.

You're welcome.

08/27/2013 - 12:49pm Fantastic Story!

Thank you, Seth.  That's about as Michigan as it gets.

Happy birthday, mgoblaniel!

09/12/2011 - 3:55pm Thank you

I was a bit surprised to see such acceptance among the comments on that page. I don't think it's a true representation of the ND community at all, but come on.

I like your blog, by the way.  ND fans can especially benefit from reading it right now.

01/14/2011 - 10:35am No

I've got it right here:

  - a doglike carnivore of the family Hyaenidae, of Africa, southwestern Asia, and south central Asia, having a coarse coat, a sloping back, and large teeth and feeding chiefly on carrion, often in packs.
10/07/2010 - 8:38am Totally

If by Smith you mean Ishtar, I whole-heartedly agree, sir.  Tellin' the truth is a bitter herb.

10/01/2010 - 3:04pm Got Dissed in the Malibu

I fail at embed, my apologies

10/01/2010 - 2:46pm Thanks, BillyShears

I'll figure it out sooner or later, I promise.

09/24/2010 - 8:35am Brenda?

12/01/2009 - 1:32pm Brilliant

I have to appreciate the fine details of Shredders pieces. The crowd behind Weis, for example.

One face goes one way, the other face goes the other way, and this guy's sayin', "Whadda ya want from me?' Guy's got a nice head of white hair, it's beautiful.

12/01/2009 - 1:21pm Bears

Bears eat beets.

11/20/2009 - 1:43pm Nice work, Shredder

I can see BG at the goal line now... "This isn't the endzone you're looking for. Move along."

10/30/2009 - 1:25pm Go T-Birds!

I'll be there as well but my M gear will be under my black & white ;)

09/09/2009 - 8:10pm NSFMIF

Everybody threatens people with death and dismemberment. Everybody has failed cocaine deals. Not everybody can be the perfect person in the world.

09/08/2009 - 8:30pm No Matter

There's only one play on that card.

09/08/2009 - 8:00pm Frieder Cuffs

I was working with the camera guy when Frieder punched him at halftime. My esteemed colleague turned to me and had the same look on his face as Hout.

Not comparing motivation/culpability/ass-kickiness, just that wonderful facial expression.

Crap, I think I'm old.

09/08/2009 - 7:24pm Our offense

is in trouble with Shredder reading the plays upside down :P

Or could it be that he knows everything so well that he put the card that way as a visual aid in the huddle for everybody else?

09/08/2009 - 6:28pm Nice work, Brian

With the New Media still shaking itself out, I'm hesitant to affix a label (like Journalist) to you. What matters to me is that you write well thought out pieces that I enjoy reading. That's pretty much the criteria I apply to all you writy folk.

I think (or would hope) the media relations people recognize who brings the story that 'those who care' want to read. That's the type of person media credentials should be given to. Oh, and kittens that listen to The Smiths are cool, too.

09/06/2009 - 3:08pm But you can't

hold that against him. Everybody kills people. Not everybody's the perfect person in the world.

...until Shredder works his MSPaint magic.

09/01/2009 - 10:06am Ridiculous

how the Sistene Chapel took Michelangelo four years yet you completed this masterpiece in less than a week.

Hail, The Shredder!

08/27/2009 - 7:43am Would it be

too far fetched for a 2025 (Intergalactic Champion) Michigan football team to have a star player named Zoltan, or something?

ps: Shredder, I'd love to see more of your work.

08/26/2009 - 2:37pm Slides would be sweet, but...

...as I understand it, in the future we travel in tubes.

Great image.

08/06/2009 - 11:59am Beautiful

God bless his cotton pickin' maize and blue heart.

It brings back memories of a certain Saturday in 1979. My father wanted to beat the crowd out of the golf course, so we left a couple minutes early. "Indiana has this one," he said. So on that golf course, with a sudden distant roar across the street behind me, I heard that special voice from a steadfast tailgater's radio along with Gen. Patton's horn.

I missed The Play.

Had I missed The Call perhaps this would be a bitter memory. But I guess there are no bad memories when Mr. Ufer is involved. Indeed, the Spirit of Meechigan Football.

Thanks for reposting this great speech!
