05/11/2018 - 1:25pm Columbus has all sorts of App influence

Columbus has a ton of Appalachian influence.   We used to joke that it was the northernmost city in West Virginia...

I agree about Cincy though except UC probably takes a backseat to UK.   UK has played basketball games in Cincy.  Lexington is only an hour south.

12/30/2017 - 10:19am Watching Game overseas???

My family and I are in India.   Can I watch the game on WatchESPN or another app?

Any ideas or do I just get to watch the replay?

11/25/2017 - 4:06pm Meh...

Really though we needed a big play or turnover by the D to win.

I thought the offensive game plan was good until the "bomb" play call for the INT. Why call that play? You have time to run and do short passes to hopefully go down amd win the game with no time left. It was a terrible call. A panic call really.

11/03/2017 - 1:11pm Thanks

Great stuff as usual Seth...

Seems hard to believe the other QB is worse.

11/01/2017 - 12:50pm The video is amazing...

I wish we could only hear him miked up on Michigan games (obviously not going to happen for good reason.).   Totally recall that Stanford game against VT.   When Michigan hired Harbaugh, the first thing I thought of was that game and how much I hoepd he could bring that to AA.

11/01/2017 - 12:48pm Love these posts...

I always look forward to these posts.   Really helps to learn the game and what they are trying to accomplish.  Hopefully, Peters can keep throwing the ball well and reading well, it will make the power game even more effective.

10/26/2017 - 12:36pm OSU Kool-Aid is everywhere here in Columbus

I live in Dublin, Ohio and my kids attend schools in Hilliard.   The kids are inundated with Ohio State here.   From the stupid o-h-i-o cheer to having your kid be required to play Hang on Sloopy in band class, they get it everywhere from the time they start school.  So the kids are made fans typically of OSU because they grow up with it.

Years ago, it wasn't as big a deal.  HS football in Columbus was a joke.   Cincinnati and Cleveland HS football teams dominated in the 1970's - 1990's.  In those places, there's a lot less Kool Aid getting passed around.   In the past two decades, Columbus has really grown and continues to grow.   The metro area is now about 2 million while Cleveland and Cincy continue to decline.

There is very much an anti-Michigan attitude around here as well.   Ask someone around here who their favorite two teams are and the answer is likely to be "OSU" and whoever is playing Michigan.  Even MSU gets a pass around here although they have had a lot more success against OSU in recent years.

I'm also not sure that Harbaugh has made his prescence know much around here with HS coaches.

One last note:  All the HS championship games were played in either Massillon or Canton for several years.  Prior to that, I think they were rotated around the state.    OSU made a push and they are all now played at the 'Shoe.   Just another sip of the ole Kool-Aid for the kids.

10/09/2017 - 12:36pm I always hate it when I see his face...

Whether it is his group's officiating and or Michigan's play, it is never good to have him officiate the game.   Very bad karma. I was very concerned the moment I saw him.

Officiating didn't cost Michigan this game though -- crappy offense did.

I see a lot of people poo pooed the post.   It really interested me though because it never seems like Michigan wins when they do the game.   Thanks for the note

10/03/2017 - 2:01pm Great analysis... wishing for more

Just watched the 14 minute 2.2 video.   Very well done.   Would be great to see some of the plays that were actually succesful on offense.   Thanks for it!

12/04/2014 - 9:09pm Malzhan

I was wondering if anyone else would come up with his name.   He seems like a genius from an offensive standpoint.   I recall a great article about him before the championshi[p game last year.  My brother lives near Atlanta and with work he is often traveling into Alabama.   He tells me that Auburn is really a town full of pretty mean, unfriendly types.  Maybe Malzahn is the one who isnt interested in competing with Saban.

I scrolled down a list of prospective head coaches (googled NCAA Football Coaches Salaries), his name sort of stuck out to me too.   Outside of Saban, Habaugh and a couple of others that would seem to be untouchable, I'm not sure who they hire that would meet his description outside of Dan Mullen.

02/11/2014 - 6:22pm Which Michigan shows up?

If the effort is like one shown at Iowa the other day, Michigan is in for a very long night.   I totally agree with the other posters that Stauskus and GR3 need to bring their A games.   However, unlike the other recent Big 10 games, I somehow doubt Ohio puts Craft on Stauskus but perhaps they will.

The locals will be fired up as always.   I live in a burb outside Cbus and watch a lot of Big 10 games including Ohio.   I thought they were toast a few weeks ago.   I doubt Scott starts another game.  He's played very well and shot much better coming off the bench.

If the Wolverines play well, they should win this one.  Just hope the effort is there....

11/12/2013 - 10:12pm Why do you think Kerridge takes such a bad angle...

to the guy he's supposed to put a hat on?  (is that #44 who seemed to repeatedly bein the backfield last week?).  it almost seems like the tight end may have been able to block that guy.   REgardless, based on the tape, it looked like Kerridge should be blocking 44.   Is it a lack of quickness on his part ?

Thanks for this in depth post.   It made me realize how bad the execution is and how could they could be if they just executed better.   The way that play starts, it looked like it should have been a huge gainer if DG hands the ball off to FT and everyone pulls their weight.

11/11/2013 - 7:09pm Best wishes to you and your wife...

I pray you and your family.   Don't worry about the team; I think in spite of their troubles, they will be OK.   Go Blue..

11/11/2013 - 7:04pm Princeton Trio

My first thought was that this would have been cool with Denard, Devin, and God love him, Tate Forcier.

My nightmare is that Urban Meyer will put Kenny Guiton and Braxton Miller on the field at the same time....

10/16/2013 - 7:26pm Schofield to LG
I have wondered the same thing.   Since Mags did a OK job at RT, why not move Schofield to LG?   It seems like the coaches are totally against this.
03/12/2013 - 10:25pm Win against Penn St; take it EZ the rest of the way

I agree with the comments that this team played tired at the end of the season.  The B10 was a grind and likely wore them out.  4 games in 4 days won't improve matters.

Of course, if M hadn't lost to IU, Wisky and PSU -- all games they should have won, they'd already have a #1 seed locked up (and an outright title).

I think they should go all out on the PSU game and take it EZ afterward.   How many Big East champs have grinded out a Big East title only to lose their first NC2A game?

03/12/2013 - 10:11pm One more thing on Columbus...

It's about a 3 hour drive to AA on game day.   It's pretty easy drive.

03/12/2013 - 10:09pm Living in Columbus as a Michigan fan ain't easy...

A lot of posts talk about CBus been a "hole" but really it is a terrific place to live with the exception of some of the "Over the Top" fans.   Most fans are pretty cool but some can be downright hateful..  My wife (who is a Michigan grad) refuses to wear Michigan gear around town.  There are many Michigan fans here but if you are going to raise a family, you should expect a heavy dose of OSU banners, posters and ads in your kids' schools.  OSU is everywhere here whether you like it or not.  It gets really old at times to be honest.

As far as places to live, depending on your tastes and finances, there are a lot of good schools and communities in the burbs.   Upper Arlington and Bexley probably have the best public school systems but Hilliard (where I live), Dublin, Powell, Worthington, Westerville, Gahanna and Pickerington are all good too.   Downtown Columbus has a lot of really good restaurants and a lot of really nice new housing if you like big city living.   In the 20+ years I have lived here, it is amazing how much downtown has been transformed.   It used to be a real dump.   Clintonville is probably my favorite city neighborhood but if you live there, you have to send your kids to private schools;  Columbus city Schools are awful.

Marysville is a little futher out but it's pretty nice too.   Also, New Albany and Lewis Center are also newer suburbs that are also very nice.

I grew up north of Cincinnati which is not nearly as OSU oriented and a lot more pro sports oriented than is Cbus.

03/10/2013 - 8:50pm Maize Rage is awesome...

Great Job to day and all season!    Wish the whole group could travel for the NCAA's.   It makes a huge difference in this team.

03/10/2013 - 8:48pm Players not lined up on the lane for 1 & 1...

I really disliked pulling all of M's players off the foul lane in the last  minute while the shooter is taking his 1 & 1.  First, if he misses, there is a chance to get the rebound.  Second, for the shooter, it just feels different not to have at least two players in there.

Definitely should have won the B10.   Wisky, PSU and today's game should all have been W's.

The good news is that this team can and should keep on getting better.

Go Blue

02/13/2013 - 10:32pm Michigan's chances the rest of the way

Last night definitely makes me wonder about the fight in this team.   However, the home court advantage in the Big 10 is HUGE.   It wouldn't surprise me to see them win all 6 of those remaining games.  Like Izzo said after the game last night, MSU played their best game of the season and Michigan definitely played their worst.

From what I've seen, Indiana is the best team in the conference.  Two weeks ago, I would have said Michigan was right with them.    Their 3 losses were at 3 of the toughest places to play period.  Once games go to neutral sites for the Big 10 tourney and NCAA tourney, it will be interesting to see how they do.

02/12/2013 - 10:49pm Michigan just didnt show up

Michigan just didnt show up to play tonight.   They look like boys against men - no toughness.  From the opening tipoff, they simply looked lackluster and not mentally ready to play.   I'm not sure what they have to do to wake up GR3 but he is awful on the road.

in their defense, the schedule has been brutal.  They may be out of gas.

Just need to return the favor come MSU's return visit to AA in March...

11/25/2010 - 8:35pm John Cooper//WoJo article

I live in Columbus area and while some liked John Cooper (BTW, he still lives here and is still involved in OSU functions), the fans and the media really disliked him.   Every year, especially the last few, it was almost a given that no matter how good OSU was, Cooper would find a way to lose the game against M.  As the saying goes," the saddest day in MIchigan FB history is the day Ohio State fired John Cooper."

I commented on the DetNews website about the WoJo article.  I think it is a bunch of crap and is very shallow and short term in its thinking.   While I want M to kick the crap out of Ohio State this weekend, I realize they are heavy underdogs.   But I also look at this team and think it has a great future.   Leave RR alone to do the job he was hired to do.

11/01/2010 - 9:49pm David Molk comments

Wow -- The guy is so impressive.   If they can just bottle his spirit and tie it into every player, this team would be undefeated. Let's hope he can light their fires with a win against Illinois.   And not a shootout but a solid play in all phases of the game.

Thanks for the posting and the video.   Defintiely gives me hope for the Illinois game.

I was also very happy to see RR reading the riot act to the defense the other night.   It was about time as far as I was concerned.   Sure the offense had a few plays they'd like back but they have so much pressure on them to score every time they touch the ball to overcome such a crappy defense.

10/06/2010 - 10:04pm d rob

I truly hope he gets all sorts of records and can stay healthy.  He is so fun to watch and I love his demeanor.

My concern is that he is getting ready to face Mich St, Penn State, Iowa, Wisconsin and O State, all of whom have much better defenses than the 5 teams we have faced so far.   We can only hope he continues to do his magic...

09/12/2010 - 12:55pm JMU win over Va Tech

After two big wins and two not so exciting games coming up, hopefully the coaches can use the JMU upset as a teaching moment.   Denard is so amazing but I also worry about the long term wear and tear on him.   Hopefully UM can blow out the UMass, BG and IU in first half so we can see more of Tate and Devin in the coming weeks in the second halves so they too can get some live game reps.

Nonetheless, I just can't get over Denard.   He is Mr. Cool.   He is so fun to watch.

09/09/2010 - 9:44pm ND analysis

Thanks for the feedback.   Always good to get the feedback.   Never been to ND Stadium.  How much an impact might that be on the game?

09/09/2010 - 9:05pm Tate's dad

I'm just glad his dad is encouraging him to stay.   I'm anxious to see TF play and see what improvements he's made in his game.   There's no doubt about the quantum leap Denard has made in his game.

09/09/2010 - 8:57pm Carvin Johnson

I see he is out 3 - 6 weeks but does he just rest his knee or is there just PT involved to restrenghten the knee?

09/07/2010 - 8:11pm #1

Guess I should prepped my comments a little better.   Got completely torched myself on my comments.   D Rob was spectacular and I hope he can stay healthly all season.   My hope was for us to win the game and get off to a good start.   The team certainly blew that goal away.

JT definitely made at least one play of the game.  My favorite was Denard's fake and 40+ yard pass play to Terrence Robinson.

Guess Im just paranoid.  Maybe I should change my screen name to Paranoid One?  It just seems like Michigan is always losing key players to injuries.

09/06/2010 - 9:45pm Happy camper

Hey, I keep hoping this team overachieves -- the last couple of years suck.. BYM, I was very happy to see the win.

12/26/2009 - 11:00am Who Replaces Hopson & When?

With the Hopson news a fwe days old now, I was wondering who the replacement might be given GR's history and background. Anyone have any ideas?

12/06/2009 - 8:59pm Brandon Smith

I liked him. did a good job on special teams; What is his reason for leaving?
