I cover high school sports in Southwestern Michigan and watched Jhonny play. No doubt he was the best athlete on the field during football season, but he was rarely the best football player. Never learned containment. Always tried blowing the play up in the backfield, but failed to realize the RB had just shot through the hole he vacated.
On that note: a RB from another team broke a 70 yard run. He busted through one of those gaps Jhonny didn't stay in and went from his own 10yd line to the Berrien Springs 20 yard line. Jhonny chased him down and got the tackle. The RB had a 20 yard lead at one point. Didn't matter.
I like it! Two good recruiters there. I bet Wheatley will do a great job at the RB Coach position, and recruit it well too. Looking forward to 2015 and beyond!
Covered SW Michigan high school football and covered a game that he was in. Talked w/ the opposing coach afterwards as Berrien Springs lost (really had a bad season all around). The opposing coach from Edwardsburg said they neutralized him pretty easily (not as easily as his teammate and MSU commit Nick Padla). He has the tendancy to want to make plays in the backfield. They let him, and then ran through the whole he left.
One very impressive play I did see. An Edwardsburg RB busted it for a 69 yard carry from his own 10. He had a 15 yard advantage on Williams, and Williams caught him at the BS 20yd. line. It was amazing watching him run and catch up that quickly. Definitely has the intangibles, but is raw w/ technique.
Referrals are great, but you also want to make sure this person takes the time to answer questions. I have found we see my son's peditrician far more than I ever see my doctor, and his doctor takes the time to answer our questions without appearing to be in a hurry to run to another patient. In other words, he treats us like people rather than a paycheck.
Ask lots of questions during your interview with him/her. Should also ask if they have an area of subspeciality (diabetes, etc.). Find out what they think about the things that matter to you and your wife and make sure you are all like minded.
One other for instance: my wife and I weren't fans of giving our son 5 immunization shots in one session. He was very understanding and said he had no problem doing whatever we wanted to do. I think we ended up spreading it out over a period of months, which was his suggestion in the end.
Hope this helps. Good luck with your little Wolverine. Go Blue.
If I were a betting man I'd think Kugler can beat out Glasgow and Burzynski for the #2 spot by the end of fall camp. I think he'll challenge Miller for the starting spot by the end of the year. I think the only thing holding him back would be the knowledge of line adjustments.
Must have short term memory loss if you can't recall the rainfall that came down during the western game last year. Stadium evacuation, lightning, thunder in the form of Kovacs sacking their QB (BOOM), etc.
Before the B1G season is over he's taking one to the house. Heck the way he found seems against a solid unit in Alabama, I'd say he'll take at least 4 to the house. First one this weekend against Air Force. Mark it down.
Asaad was a really good baseball player. He played on traveling all-stars later in the summer. He played high school ball at Niles HS, and I believe got a scholarship to play ball for Louisville.
Neat family as I've met and spoken w/ his mom many times.
Couple logisitical points: He lived in Berrien Springs, Michigan for a long time. Actually bought the house formerly owned by Al Capone. Anyway he and his wife adopted a son, Asaad Ali. Asaad played little league baseball across the street from my house. Periodically Muhammad would be there to watch and cheer him on (very cool of him given his fame). I walked over one day and he was heading out. He reached out and shook my hand and we exchanged greetings, and he even gave me an autograph (which is tough to read).
Even though this was in the late 90's and his disease had really impacted him by that point he was still an imposing figure. His hand swallowed mine easily. I was quite star struck.
simply because there is no one for him to pair up with right now. All our other options are waiting it out. He doesn't have a recruit to pair up w/ to commit.
Or possibly Stanford. Would love to see them go at it with us given their similarities on the field or in the classroom. (A little revenge for stealing Garnett would be fun too).
Given the fact that Torres will likely appeal this suspension it could be that Shanahan was anticipating that. Hence why he is starting at 25, but even if it gets worked down to 10-15 games it comes off as better than the 25, but still severe.
There is no lightning in the forecast. Just a 50% chance of showers, and you can keep an eye on the hour by hour weather on their website at weather.com. Looks like there's a chance for a couple showers in the morning as of now, but it could clear up around 10.
I'm in the same boat as I'm driving up from SW Michigan for it, but if it's nasty then screw it. I'll just watch on TV. Which sucks.
Need to pick a school based on more than it's coaching staff. Even if your dad is the coach. I'd like to get him as a transfer, but I don't know if we'll have the room or need w/ the crew coming in next year.
it looks as if Belien is making a strong run of it in the COY award. It's a pretty heated race w/ Burke and Zeller as well, but a slight edge to Burke. Wish they'd show how many votes each have so we can get a clearer picture.
According to Tom's tweet the considering tab is for players who are considering Michigan. Not players Michigan is considering. So the interest is likely only one sided at this point. Which sucks, cause I'd love to see him out there.
On all the sites they have him as a DE. I was pretty sure he was a RB prospect though, correct? Cause that is BEASTLY size for a RB. Was he the on thought would change over to a FB?
He's been pretty open for a while that we're his favorite school. However, I heard it's not him. Don't honestly recall where I heard that, but I do recall hearing it. Maybe it was Aquaman who said that? Either way I don't see Taco as HUGE. Definitely would be great, but not HUGE in my mind.
That seems a bit ridiculous given that he had a solid day against the countries best DT's.
I thought if any OL stock should go down it should be Banner, given how many times the speed rushers got around him.
Good for Pipkins though. I thought all of our guys did a great job. If Pipkins is that good being that overweight (330lbs ish) just imagine how good he could be if he got into shape!
I'm hoping they draft Luck w/ the first pick, and then get Molk with their next pick. Might have to trade up for him, but what a great way to replace the Manning/Saturday combo.

According to 247 Robinson is the #1 OT. I never even heard of him. Rock on if it's true.
I didn't know Lloyd Carr's wife went to LSU.

If Gareon had set up a visit to OSU that opens up another spot. Doubt it takes the Quan's place.

Would think this would have been the year to do it when they are in the awkward Steven Threet transitional phase. Either way we'd take it to them.
Or possibly Stanford. Would love to see them go at it with us given their similarities on the field or in the classroom. (A little revenge for stealing Garnett would be fun too).
cause I think if his heart is really set on that major we're still screwed, but I'd love to see us take one from FSU. Hopefully Mattison took the oil.

Sadly, I don't think there is one doable girl in that video. No wonder DB is keeping them from going.
where's his partner at?? Dileo not available?? Awesome picture though.

@Balas_WolverineBenji Burke, Trey Burke's dad, tells us they're hearing Trey'd go 18 to 24 in the draft. They have submitted paperwork to test the NBA water
NOOO!
that the coaches will still take Isaac if he wants to come. IF he wants to come. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!
AWESOME! Hope Isaac isnt scared off though!!
And look how that ended. Besides I don't think they'd project very well in the draft anyways. They both need to get better. Bonus for us.

I mean if he's a 2* QB, no big deal, but if he's another 5* that could ruffle some feathers. I'm all about competition though.

Two commits in one day + a win over OSU tonight = best day ever.
i gotta believe it's going to be REALLY tough to keep Thomas in the fold now that Urban is at Ohio and so is his cousin. reference Armani Reeves.
will put more girls in the bed for recruits. If Meyer puts two in perhaps we'll use three. Should give us more than a leg up.
the player is an ESPN 4*, however, O'Brien is only 3*'s on ESPN.

Then this dude definitely qualifies as a terrible commentator. As a professional commentator myself I can't stand listening to that gibberish.
