I played against Two former Wolverines

I remember when Ian Gold was running the ball at Belleville high School...that kid was BIG, FAST and would run THROUGH you and not around you. I had a headache from hell after playing them in a scrimmage. I think he only carried the ball about 10 times, for about 75 yards and a score...but I'll never forget the trash talking he put on after EVERY run. I also played against Drew Henson. He was GIGANTIC, bigger than most of our D-lineman!!haha!! We lost a close game to them, but he had a pretty good game as he threw for about 200 yards and 3 scores......we did sack him 4 times....but he was a LOAD to bring down.

Aequitas...

you are ABSOLUTELY correct.  Dorsey went through SO much more because he simply committed to U of M. SHAME of the Freep for subjecting this kid to the immense criticism that he wasn't accustomed to. It just goes to show how powerful the media is nowadays.....not to give credit where it isn't deserved, but the Media is OUT OF CONTROL.....Michigan's reputation is being BLASTED right now because the University is caving in to the pressures created by these MEDIOCRE reporting......

RE: Naters113

I feel fine with Cissoko and Feagin.....is the University to blame for their problems?? No....it WOULD be a problem if the University ignored these guys and didn't punish them, but I think the University and Coaches sent a message by releasing these guys. THAT is the most important thing, giving kids opportunities to succeed and play for the university of Michigan...if they can't follow rules at U of M, release them from the University. It's simple....we CANNOT give up on some of these kids simply because they didn't have the same opportunities as you or I. They have immense talents, and WE ALL WANT a succesful program, I think that translates into taking the talented kids and giving them a chance to earn a Michigan degree and play for one of the best Programs in the nation. If we recruit only the kids who have stellar backgrounds and academics, we may as well FORGET Big ten Championships and National Championships, because you won't see them....I understand Michigan is an elite academic school....but times have changed, you can NO longer only select the best qualified recruits anymore.....there is just too much competition. If we keep this up, Michigan Football is going to be just another football program with great academics. In reality, if the University doesn't pull their heads outta their butts and realize that recruiting FOOTBALL players and not just scholars is what brings in revenue, then the entire athletic department is in danger of losing HUGE amounts of money.....GO BLUE!!!!!!!!!!

MISMANAGEMENT

At first, I was upset and didn't want Dorsey because of his past transgressions. However, I came to like what little I knew of the kid, and I truly feel bad for him right now. When kids grow up in big cities and live in those tougher neighborhoods, a good percentage of them are going to travel down the wrong path and get into some trouble. HOWEVER, making mistakes is part of growing up and one of the best ways to mature...yes, even iif it includes burglary and/or robbery. As kids we ALL made mistakes......and now AFTER recruiting this kid and  getting him to sign, we are going to leave him alone, and expect him to move on with no hard feelings. I wish this kid the best of luck and I HOPE AND PRAY he becomes an ALL AMERICAN......Michigan Football is NEVER going to become elite again if the Alumni keep trying to hold the program back and we keep trying to hold "Michigan Football" to higher academic standards. In MY opinion, it's more of an acomplishment to recruit a kid with medicore grades, and a hazy past and transform them into MICHIGAN MEN, with a degree and a future in the NFL than a kid who already get straught A's and B's. Times have changed ladies and gentleman....the days of Bo and Woody having stellar programs to include academics are no more.....there are plenty of colleges that can and will recruit kids like Dorsey to give them an opportuntiy to play and succeeed. I am a lifelong Wolverine.....I just wish the program would be more open minded....Go BLUE!

FINALLY!!!! someone who sees it simialr to me. VERY WELL put.......I applaud your effort, I thought I was the ONLY one who still supported the program no matter who is in there.
WOW I LOVE Michigan Football.....I LOVE Michigan......I would NEVER recruit a kid who was charged with ANY VIOLENT crime......I understand mistakes, just not when it involves violent crime. The best predictor of future behavior is PAST behavior......
Don't want to Jump to Conclusions But if this is indeed true, that kid can stay his ass in Florida, I don't want him. There aren't a whole hell of alot of ways to get charged with robbery with a deadly weapon without actually doing it. Unless this is mistaken identity or a hoax, that kid can keep his troubles in his own hood..........
Human Nature If I were a Coach at a Major Pipeline school, I GUARANTEE you that I would steer my kids to U of M too. I want Michigan to succeed, so naturally I would steer them there. What's wrong with that?
AMEN BROTHER!!!!!!! WE HAVE TO SUPPORT ROCH ROD!!!! Put aside your differences for whatever reason......I don't give a chit if Nanci Pelosi coaches U of M.....the coach SHOULD have OUR FULL SUPPORT!!!!! I LOVE RICH ROD and what he brings to the table.....GO BLUE!!!!!
On the BRINK??? You say this program is on the brink because they refuse to allow a player to dictate where they are going to play? Let me get this straight.....you think OUR program is "on the brink" because of recruits who didn't pan out are leaving??? They have been fed with silver spoons their entire football careers....they are used to being told how great they are, how much better they are than the "other guys," and when they hit big time competition, they fold. You should expect to see MORE of this...especially at schools with high levels of talent......these kids want to play, and if they don't, they'll probably leave. Thats NOT the programs fault....thats just Football in Division 1.
Agreed I couldn't agree more with you. I'm trying to take a step back and look at U of M from the outside. I think Rich Rod has made some questionable calls, but has the workings to be a very good coach. We at U of M are not used to a Coach speaking as freely as Rodriguez, because Carr was always angry and had no personality. ( great coach though.) Btt we all have to admit that an average Rich Rod Offense is still better than a good Carr offense. Rod's Offense can score in a hurry, which hurts our teams of late because the defense couldn't stop a big wheel with hydraulic brakes!!!! When the defense improves, U of M will compete for BCS titles......too many folks are blaming Rodriguez, when in reality, if Carr would have been Coach these past two years, I see him winning 2 more games in 08, and MAYBE one more in 09. Not a huge difference. I don't believe the 09 team deserved a bowl game, even if they had won another game, though the extra practice time would have been nice.
