The only thing that I'm high on is Bob Ufer.
By that, I of course mean that I snorted his ashes.

Three paragraphs is too long for you to read, yet you're accusing other people of being Sparties?
|05/22/2018 - 11:25am||Let me see||
Let me see if I've got this right: I'm automatically a Michigan State fan because I don't jump on the self-hating "WOE IS ME~" bandwagon and posted an exaggeratedly optimistic post that was clearly done with a humorous slant?
k, just checking
Feel free to check my post history if you want to see if I'm actually a State fan. Granted, the fact that I was caved (quite unfairly in my view, considering it was on a post that was +12/-0 and Brutus was apparently uncaved) probably doesn't help the optics. At the same time, though, I think that you're being needlessly defensive, paranoid, and unreasonable.
For what it's worth, I'm going to state this as plainly as I can. I DO think that Michigan is going to win the Big Ten this year. I don't care what the kneejerk chickenshit segments of the fanbase think about that, either. The fact that the fanbase starts having piss run down their collective pantlegs when they're ranked fifth is quite the indictment, I would say. Grow a damn backbone and support the kids. Even if it ends up being overly-optimistic, is it so bad if Joe Buckeye or Sparty Mike say something mean about it to you?
|05/22/2018 - 10:05am||Sorry||
Sorry, my neighbors had a seance the other day and summoned Bob Ufer's ghost. He made his way over once he saw the Michigan stuff in the yard. He hasn't left me alone since. I've been spending too much time with him lately, I think.
|05/22/2018 - 9:58am||Michigan||
Michigan is going to wreak havoc on the college football world next year. Coach Welch's Grape Juice is going stay permanently purple after September 1st. Sparty is going to be embarrassed in prime time on national television in their trash-ridden prison yard, having to go up against Shea Patterson in good weather. Penn State is going to feel the pain of a concentrated Michigan team out for revenge after a bye week. James Franklin will remind the world that he's James Franklin, not having Moorhead to lean on. They're going to be undefeated going into the Scarlet Hellhole and will take out 17 years of frustration on Urban's crew. Wisconsin will consider whether they actually want a Michigan rematch in the Big Ten Championship. The College Football Playoff won't know what hit them when the Michigan Men hit the field. First Big Ten Championship since 2004, first National Championship since 1997.

"This is why people predicting Michigan winning or being competitive in any football game ever again confuse me."
-Probably also you
|05/16/2018 - 5:16pm||I don't know if I||
I don't know if I would necessarily disagree, depending on the discussion being had with regard to "the right choice at the time" versus "the right choice in hindsight." Tom Brady wasn't the player in college that he became in the professional ranks, and Drew Henson was the apparent future at that point. Hindsight is 20/20, of course, but based on what we saw of Tom Brady, he wasn't so far ahead of Henson that it wasn't worth trying to keep Henson happy and develop him for the future.
In an alternate universe in which we stuck with Brady through the entirety of the season, Henson went to the MLB, and Brady never turned into the NFL superstar that he did for whatever reason, Carr would have gotten an immense deal of flack for not going with Henson. I think that Carr made the right decision given the information that he had, though it ultimately ended up being the wrong decision with the benefit of hindsight.
|05/16/2018 - 4:55pm||I have a couple that are going to get me ran||
I have a couple that are going to get me ran, one in particular. Especially given whose thread that I'm posting this in. Thankfully, it doesn't matter much considering that I've already been caved and as such have nothing to lose.
-I think that we should have a costumed mascot (cue the tomatoes) based on the Sailor Wolverine logo. I'm of the opinion that if we took the Sailor Wolverine and mixed him with what we see in the "Big 10 Family Portrait," we would have a very quality mascot rooted in Michigan tradition. A lot of people complain about "making it look like a wolverine rather than a bear," but that's largely accomplished in attention to the tail. I think that the only reason that we don't have one is due to misplaced pride and erroneous emphasis on what makes Michigan what it is. I think it would be a very good thing for the University and fanbase, especially when it comes to media pieces. Wouldn't you like to control and have an acceptable mascot to use versus random commercials having to use guys dressed up in khakis or sports site collages using hastily drawn blue cartoon wolverines with wings on their heads?
Additionally, I am not a huge fan of the uniform Block M for every single thing ever. I love the photorealistic wolverine in front of the Block M, I love the Sailor Wolverine logo, and I love the classic skinny M, and would love to see them all worked in more often, along with the university seal and winged helmet outline. This goes for both merchandise and uniforms. I'm not suggesting that we bring back the Split M, however.
Let me have it, folks.
|04/18/2018 - 10:34pm||I recently joined||
I recently joined that club. A certain MGoBlog writer took offense to my exaggeratedly poking fun at the perpetually offended crowd and deducted me 3,000 points, naturally. To make things worse, my comments was +12/-0 in a contentious comment chain with a lot of negs on both sides, and was intended to offer levity on both sides to defuse the situation, which based on the vote totals did exactly that. It wasn't only me, as he also caved a long-time poster and great contributor in the same thread. It's ridiculous.
Hopefully the new MGoBlog has a far superior system in terms of moderation in terms of communication, reporting, warnings, and accountability. I understand that this is a free board, but two decades ago I was part of boards that had superior systems that certainly nobody made their living off of. Getting randomly caved or banned with zero communication or appeals process, disallowing full participation in the community in terms of taking away the ability to vote, is a joke. Those in charge are barely even accountable to each other, there's no oversight of anybody. It's completely Bush League that multiple people make their living off of this site and this is the system that they've had in place for so long.
|04/16/2018 - 9:54pm||If the mods||
If the mods don't punish you for your unapologetic almond-normative viewpoints, Brutus, I don't even know why we have mods. WHY DOESN'T ANYBODY GET THAT IT'S 2018 AROUND HERE?! 2018!
|04/16/2018 - 9:40pm||I find it||
I find it quite problematic that you specified "almond" milk latte. It's 2018 last I checked, and saying such a thing is quite insensitive to those with almond allergies, don't you think? Please try to be more sensitive in the future, as I'm literally shaking right now from your comment. I've never been so offended in my life.

Most likely referring to Karsen Barnhart, offensive lineman out of Paw Paw who reportedly had a terrific visit over the weekend. He's set to announce on Friday, and a ton of crystal balls have come Michigan's way. He was previously favoring Sparty.
|04/16/2018 - 5:06pm||Any time||
Any time that anybody gets down about a disappointing game or season, this type of thing truly hammers home how remarkable that the University of Michigan is. Our athletic programs and their storied histories are the stuff of legend, we have one of the top academic institutions in the country, our fanbase is one of the largest in the country, our alumni include some of the most impressive figures in American history, and we take pride in doing it all in a way where we can keep our heads held high. The ability of the Michigan community to come together on things like this never surprises me, but always makes me proud. When you take everything into account that what makes Michigan such a great and special institution, there are very few others who could even claim to be genuine peers with a straight face. Go Blue!
|04/15/2018 - 10:53pm||Humanity||
Humanity has miraculously adapted to breathe the air in Columbus and East Lansing, decidedly more toxic than chlorine or sarin. Granted, those aren't "people" in the traditional sense, more so being along the lines of the deformed mutant subhumans from Judge Dredd who reside in the radioactive wastes, but they somehow survive none the less.

|04/15/2018 - 4:07pm||Sometimes||
Sometimes I think about responding to inane drivel like your post. Then, I think of what a pathetic hollow shell of a human being that one must be to not only actively monitor, but sign up for a board dedicated to a rival's team and do nothing but troll like a petulant child. At that point, I feel too genuinely sorry for you and your kind to tear into you, and just let your sad cry for attention go.

Peters got robbed blind, my friend. Baker Mayfield was absolute trash in Oklahoma's 2017 spring game (11/20, 0 TD, 1 INT). I have no idea how he won it, it's a complete mystery to me. There must have been something shady going on.

I want that guy on the offensive side of the ball, personally. Our rivals laughed when we gave him a scholarship, but we'll see who's laughing when Wheatley, Jr. picks up Lillipute McTiny in the end zone and throws him 50 feet in the air to catch an uncontestable ball over and over for endless free touchdowns. Checkmate, Urban.
|04/11/2018 - 12:59pm||THIS||
THIS is the kind of revisionist history I can get behind! The Rose Bowl we went to in the 1996 season is up there with when John O'Korn led us to victory against Ohio State and both years that Denard won the Heisman!

Some people in the world don't have the luxury of being born "TV pretty." I'm not saying it's the case for corundum, necessarily, but some of us were born with an unfortunate affliction known as "a face for message board posting."
|04/11/2018 - 11:04am||...||
...You'll bitch and moan some more?
Things weren't great and didn't turn out how we wanted them to, but the roster had an immense deal of youth, our starting quarterback went down twice, we were competitive in 13/14 games, and the 2019 and 2020 classes are shaping up to be excellent. There's a lot of cause to be optimistic for the upcoming season.
You just complained about a player that was never even committed to Michigan, for the love of God. I understand that you've undergone some changes in your life, but at least the "old" WD was optimistic instead of being entitled.
|03/30/2018 - 8:37am||I want to point||
I'm not saying without question that Jim Harbaugh is autistic (and obviously can't do so without a clinical diagnosis), but consider this:
Google "Jim Harbaugh" "autism" and get 65,900 results.
Google site:mgoblog.com "Jim Harbaugh" "autism" and get 129 results.
Google site:mgoblog.com "Jim Harbaugh" "autistic" and get 151 results.
Here's a link discussing Harbaugh's interaction with Frank Beamer in which approximately six different people independently theorize that Harbaugh might be somewhere on the spectrum after reading the story.
While we wouldn't know for sure without a diagnosis and it really doesn't matter, I'm clearly not alone in thinking that Jim Harbaugh displays signs of possibly being on the spectrum based on what we've seen from him. I don't think that it's severe by any means and it in no way is a bad thing, but I do think that high-functioning autism would explain a lot of Jim Harbaugh's behavior. There are a great deal of extremely successful people that have been speculated to have exactly that. I'll leave it at that because I don't want to derail the thread, but I wouldn't dismiss the possibility so readily.
|03/30/2018 - 8:07am||I said||
I said "the most miserable and self-hating fan," not "the human incarnation of negativity and gloom, borne from the despair and hatred of every tormented soul in the deepest circle of Hell and then channeled purely into pessimism and bitterness against Michigan sports." Different categories, you see.
|03/30/2018 - 7:50am||The long haul||
Anybody who questions Harbaugh's long-term commitment to Michigan need look no further than this. Harbaugh is unquestionably more disappointed with how last season went than even the most miserable and self-hating fan. Instead of being tone deaf and stubborn, he instead sought feedback from those around him to improve, and genuinely took that advice to heart. It's clear that he learned something from his time with the 49ers. He wants to be here long-term, and he wants things to go as well as they can.
While it may seem odd to an outside observer the way that he put it into practice (no question we're going to be getting some flack and snide comments from opposing fans for this), and the headlines obviously focused on the oddest part of the equation, Harbaugh is an extremely odd guy. I've seen it floated multiple times before that he may be on the autism spectrum, and I've long thought there might be something to that. It would definitely explain a lot, including this additional oddity. I think that it very much so speaks immensely to the level of commitment that Harbaugh has to his job, carried out in his own very Jim Harbaugh way.

I hope all is well (God knows that it's not for me, I work for Rutgers athletics!). As your personal contact for Rutgers Athletics (Wal-Mart and the local Speedway turned me down, but Rutgers hired me on the spot from their off-brand Craigslist posting, Jeffslist), I wanted to share some incredible (okay, we both know the truth, but please bear with me, my job is hard enough as is) news with you (poor individual on our mailing list, even though it was most likely to watch your team commit an atrocity against humanity versus Rutgers in person)!
We are currently on sale (out of necessity, of course!) for the 2018 Rutgers Football season. Be here to watch Coach Ash (see him while you can! no way he makes it to next season!) and the team (I, of course, use the term "team" loosely) power through the Big Ten Conference (I still can't believe they were stupid enough to actually accept us) to the top of the Eastern Division standings*!
*at the beginning of the year, when all teams are tied at 0-0
Here are some reasons others have gotten on board with us this season:
…..and much more (we're so desperate that we'll throw more stuff at the wall to hopefully entice takers)! There has never been a better time to join the Rutgers family (when you're at the bottom, there's nowhere to go but up! then again, sideways in our case is much more likely, if we're being honest!)!
When is the best time to discuss your plans for next season? (seriously, please. we're having a competition amongst the staff and whoever gets the most people signed up gets a $10 gift card to Wal-Mart. I haven't eaten in weeks, please help me. I'm pretty sure that a single person will win me the award. please seek your heart and think of it from a charitable angle. plz)

|02/26/2018 - 4:56pm||In my estimation||
In my estimation, girls are more prone to conforming to their parents' desires, as well as focusing on socialization. On the other side, boys are more prone to following their own path in terms of what they want versus what their parents want, and fall into the trap of the constant cheap electronic entertainment constantly available to them in this day and age. While girls also do so, especially as social media is concerned, it's of more of a multitasking "checking it constantly for short periods of time, but not spending solid hours upon hours fixated on a solitary thing" situation, as males are more prone to do.
Part of it, I think, has to do with girls maturing more quickly, as well as being wired differently in terms of their goals in terms of a career. For example, I had a buddy growing up who became a mechanic, and as such eschewed higher education entirely, and absolutely loves it while making decent money. On the other hand, his sister got a master's degree while doing well in school, and hardly makes any money in her chosen career. Lots of careers, especially factory jobs and the trades, don't appeal to the vast majority of females, but there's a larger number of males who could work their whole lives doing construction or driving a truck and the like and be entirely happy. It might not be politically correct to say, but I think that's the reality in general, though there are obviously exceptions.
I don't really think that the gap is a huge deal, given that the cream of the crop from both genders will rise up at the end of the day. It was the right choice for me and many readers of this blog, given that we're all here because of our beloved Michigan, but it's not right for everybody. I actually think that there is too much emphasis placed on four year college educations from the average parent and the average kid, but that's another discussion.
|02/26/2018 - 1:29pm||SpartyJon||
"You guys prove why everybody in the conference hates your school's fans."
Sure. But then again, I'll take hatred over indifference and being a complete afterthought, nobody being aware of our existence due to our insignificance. I know that's the only thing that you know in life, but if it makes you feel any better, I'm sure that people would hate your school just as much if you were actually worth caring about in any capacity, friend. :)
|02/25/2018 - 9:46am||Monitoring||
I've been closely monitoring the situation (digging through Brian's garbage, calling Seth's distant family members and leaving heavy breathing voicemails, sitting in the tree with a pair of binoculars in front of HuEl's office building) and I've got some news on the situation. Everything is currently ready to go, but they can't find a hamster with enough tenacity (and resistance to horse steroids without dying) to power the new site's servers. They had high hopes for a Mesocricetus named "Lil' Swifty" and were in negotiations with the finest black market Russian hamster dealers to ship him over to Michigan, but things broke down when they found out that Lil' Swifty had a little of bit of a, shall we say, cocaine problem. They're still searching, though. As soon as they get the right hamster, that's when we'll see it up. Hopefully Ol' Hambiscuit holds up in the mean time to keep the current site up.
