04/19/2018 - 5:35pm Welcome to the Windy City

Always a pleasure to have more M fans in town.

You say you're moving to Chicago for school. Thus, I assume you're in your 20s. Duffy's is the ultimate place to go if that's the case. It's a youthful and boisterous atmosphere. It's where I went when I was new to the city. Kind of like a rite of passage.

These days, for me, I prefer The Diag. It's an "older" crowd in that it isn't newly graduated 22-year olds. Not as shoulder-to-shoulder as Duffy's but plenty of TVs for viewing.

There are plenty of other places throughout the city that could make sense based on where you're living. If you're in the West Loop, head to West End (but avoid at all costs if the Blackhawks are playing. You'll never get sound and might be relegated to a few TVs only).

If you're in River North or Wrigleyville, try the Rockit restaurants. But if you're going to the River North location, get there early. It fills up fast.

If you want a more chilled out location, there's Matilda's in Lakeview. But the TVs are as good.

That's a good primer for your introduction. Of course, once you're here long enough, you'll find your neighborhood bar (there are plenty), buddy up with the bartender/owner, and get the M games on whenever you want. But you'll probably be fighting over sound for the Bears/Cubs/Hawks games.

02/05/2018 - 2:51pm Good Odds

The Good Odds Toyota commercial featuring Lauren Woolstencroft (born without legs fom the knees down and without a left arm) was my favorite by far. Inspirational. "Start Your Impossible." Goosebumps.

01/24/2018 - 3:46pm Pitino

Pitino should still have to keep that National Champions tattoo he got. Kinda like his Scarlet Letter. A big ol' "L" on his shoulder.

01/05/2018 - 3:22pm You joke

I know you're joking but last night on ESPN 1000 here in Chicago, Michael Wilbon said he had "inside information" from "friends in Ann Arbor" that Jim Harbaugh is all but ready to leave for the Bears. So, the madness continues.

11/28/2017 - 4:42pm Exactly

Exactly what the real Griese would want us to believe.

09/26/2017 - 1:34pm NHL

It's not college, but anyone living in Chicago and going to Blackhawks games will tell you the fans start a "Detroit Sucks" chant no matter the opponent.

07/18/2017 - 10:15am What's

a ZJ?

06/17/2017 - 3:09pm I would.

I'd have a yooge problem with Harbaugh inviting Trump. But I'd be quite ok for either Bush, Romney, or McCain. It's not the party, it's the person.

05/15/2017 - 2:06pm What about

Nebraska traveling to Maryland?

04/28/2017 - 11:07am It's a great feeling

It's a great feeling knowing Jabrill Peppers has a job and Danny Kanell does not.

09/22/2016 - 11:39am Missouri

They already have a rivalry w/ Illinois and there's a potential border war w/ Iowa. When they were trying to beg their way into the conference, I was ok w/ it happening (since expansion was going to happen anyway). I would have taken them over spreading east b/c the Big Ten, to me, was, is, and always should be a Midwestern conference.

09/07/2016 - 5:23pm Great minds

I had the same thought when I looked at the list. If we brag about having the most wins in college history, we should know about some of the greats that helped us achieve those bragging rights. I look forward to your list.

08/11/2016 - 4:55pm Wisconsin

We host them once a decade. We play PSU in Ann Arbor every other year.

08/08/2016 - 11:41am I voted

I love these lists b/c every now and then someone lists a player I've never heard of (in this case, WD listing John Maulbetsch) and then I get to learn something new and further my belief that truly no one has it better than us.

07/06/2016 - 2:14pm Passing Game

I say this every time someone asks about M books. It's a great read about Benny Friedman, a Michigan great that too many of us know nothing about.

06/13/2016 - 5:31pm I'm biased

But Fritz Crisler deserves it over Lloyd. It's also hard to argue against Oosterbaan as a player.

04/01/2016 - 10:12am Agreed

A guy I went to college with proposed to his girlfriend on the jumbotron at that game. They broke up before the wedding.

03/09/2016 - 10:59am 2 for the road

Jimmy Eat World - The Middle

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats - SOB

02/03/2016 - 2:46pm Gotta be

Gotta be some pear trees in Ann Arbor somewhere, amiright?

01/04/2016 - 3:52pm No it's not.

12/29/2015 - 11:08am Champ!

Hightower, Baldwin, and Zona's D led the way. (And Tom finally had a subpar game.)

However, I owe the win solely from the team name: Harbaugh's Army. It wasn't even a fair fight.

12/29/2015 - 10:55am You forgot

Rod Payne, possibly the best center M has had in the past 30 years.

12/18/2015 - 11:10am The nighttime sky . . .

in Ann Arbor is filled with so many stars these days, amiright?

12/17/2015 - 2:57pm PLUS!!!

09/30/2015 - 5:28pm Awesome job, my friend

You lured me in with the pizza emojis. I stuck around for the interactive positional chart.

09/28/2015 - 5:16pm Asking for a friend

How early do they have to get inside the stadium and can they sneak booze in for you?

08/26/2015 - 4:56pm Spelling

This is the least frustrating part of the original post.

08/26/2015 - 4:54pm Angelos?

07/29/2015 - 2:18pm Ring of Honor

I like your idea of the Ring of Honor, but what would be the qualifications? Heisman winners? All Americans? First Team Big 10? We're talking 150 years of players. There were great players like Benny Friedman from the early 1900's who deserve the recognition (IMO) just as much as players like Woodson and Harmon. We might run out of space, which isn't a bad problem to have.

07/01/2015 - 11:33am Chelios

Chelios did it in reverse.

05/01/2015 - 10:36am The Hold Steady

"Boys & Girls in America" is one of my favorite albums of all time and one of the best albums of the 2000s.

04/14/2015 - 3:01pm Best/Worst

I think the Best are easier to determine than the Worst. I'll use the starting year of 1996, when your original Browns moved to Baltimore (b/c I think if we're just talking all-time greats, the Yankees and Canadiens can't be touched):

BEST: Spurs (NBA), Red Wings (NHL), Patriots (NFL), Cardinals (MLB)

WORST: Timberwolves (NBA), Oilers (NHL), Browns (NFL), Expos/Nats (MLB)

04/10/2015 - 3:23pm Great Name

Waffles is a great name for a dog (cuz everybody LOVES Waffles???). I live in Chicago and have a 2-year old American fox hound named Leroy Brown. He's a great pup.

04/10/2015 - 3:19pm Wings fan glasses

I don't think it's an unreasonable belief to think he'll stay in Detroit. That's not a homer opinion. Might he leave for Toronto? Sure. But Detroit treats him well, he has upper management who know how to draft and develop, and he has a say in everything. It's not like Wings fans are bitching that he needs to go because we haven't won the Cup in a few years. He's not going to be "sainted" like he might in Toronto, but he is beloved in Detroit none-the-less. There are legitimate reasons to think he'll stay beyond just Wings fans' homerism.

04/03/2015 - 7:07pm alternative music!!!

All great albums!!!

02/27/2015 - 3:40pm RIP

Next number in the rafters.

02/26/2015 - 5:57pm Great Job!!

Unfortunately, I have to fail you for leaving off the greatest university in the history of history in your answer to #7.

02/24/2015 - 4:32pm Serious question

Do they give trophies for winning these tournaments?  If so, where are they housed on campus?  I imagine we're running out of space with the success Hutch has had for a long time.

02/23/2015 - 4:01pm Top 3

Baylor, Oklahoma, Tennessee.
