Then you don’t give the coaches enough credit. Frankly Michigan has been nowhere near as successful as schools like Alabama and OSU or even Penn State in recruiting, and yet they have at least been beating the latter 2.
Playing devil’s advocate, we have talked about this type of activity here before. I’m not sure there’s anything illegal about the PDF if it comes from screen grabs of televised games.

So I’ll start by saying there’s a whole lot of assumption to this scenario but the only thing I’ve seen regarding the rule in question is: “Off-campus, in-person scouting of future opponents (in the same season) is prohibited.”
ASUMING Stalions did buy tickets for others to go to opponent games but neither he, nor any other member of the athletic staff personally attended those games, is this even a violation of the rules? The spirit, maybe, but the rule itself seems less than clear.
Brady Hoke has been mediocre at ever stop with the exception of 3 seasons over his 17 year career, one of those at Michigan. That’s not the standard Michigan aspires to. He was given every opportunity and got worse every year.
I mean we’re pretty sure that’s how we lost at least one highly ranked former commit, so no telling how many more decided not to commit in the first place.
Mattison did not fail as a coach, spectacularly or otherwise. Where he failed was in living up to the promises he had made and values he had espoused to his Michigan team.
The timing for Cade makes sense. JJ was not particularly good most of the year and door was wide open for him to win back the starting job. I think the door was closed after the OSU and CCG games because McCarthy played so well. Not sure what All’s deal is though.
So how about this, against Illinois, should we get lucky enough to have the game out of reach early, go to a deep ball on every damn play till you figure it out?
Are you being serious, Hoke’s first season was his best. His second season was worse, third season even worse and his 4th year was his worst. His teams got worse each and every year.
After reading many, many optimistic posts the past few years, I’ve learned to take claims on the “floor” for any season, coach, or player with a grain of salt.
Honestly it wouldn’t even make sense for him to consider transferring at this point. He’s shown enough that he has to be considered favored for the starting job. He has about as much talent and ability as the others and more experience and familiarity with the system. It’s really his to lose.
This has been a problem for Michigan for a solid decade. It was apparent in Carr's later years, got significantly worse under Rich Rod and Barwis, and seems to still be in full force under Hoke. I'm not sure why so many different coaching staffs with different philosophies are getting the same poor results, only that for whatever reason, they are.
I've been watching Michigan football for about 35 years and I never thought there'd come a day when Michigan would be going into the Michigan State game after a bye and I would still expect them to get blown out badly.
as much as the tolerance for and acceptance of mediocrity. I know we like to make fun of Brian Kelly, but having SOME fire in the belly is not necessarily a bad thing.
I'm a little shocked to see the coaches give up a the end of the game. Yes, the team was playing very poorly, yes they had no chance to win, but the coaching staff sat on 3 timeouts and let ND run out the clock. How do you come back from that and ask players to give it their all after that?
According to ESPN, Bama was "49th overall in the Football Bowl Subdivision in passing yards per game, 25th in rushing yards and 18th in points" last year. And that's with Alabama level talent! I hope our offensive production improves and expect that it will, I just don't know how much of an improvement to expect.

We don’t, but also his record at MSU is only 2-5 followed by 11-2. Just the two years.
No comparison really. Tucker’s team have beaten their main rival both years and the overall record for year 2 was a huge improvement over year one.
