In response to 4b - I think

In response to 4b - I think it's ok to use the mainstream to get hooked onto the genre like I did, but yes, absolutely you have to go out and explore.  If I never explored past Disturbed and Tool I wouldn't have found Pelican, Isis, Crowbar, Mastodon (even though they are kinda mainstream these days), Baroness, Fozzy, or The Sword. And that would tragic.

Psychostick should win best

Psychostick should win best song, best album, best artist, and best new artist at the grammy's every year.

The Smashing Pumpkins are

The Smashing Pumpkins are awful. Everything about them, just terrible.

Bring in the Band?

I would love to hear what John Pasquale would say to them about getting the marching band involved.  Or Haithcock.

But seriously, if there are any current members of the band willing to comment on this, as a former member, I am extremely curious to know where the current band members, the people who would be most effected by this, would think about being forced to play something possibly written or composed by a "movement."

We have that.  Temptation

We have that.  Temptation should be played on every 3rd down.  Argue about whether or not you like the cheer that goes along with it, but that's our other thing.  Plus Let's Go Blue.  Which is ours, every other college/ high school band in the world. And the Blues Brothers (even though that's been played to death for every Michigan sporting event (it should have just stayed in hockey except for homecoming)).

This is just a reaction to young students who don't know the traditions finally having a reason to be excited about a football season.  We FOGs know what it's like to be excited by Michigan football, but the kids don't.  I can't blame them for being excited.  I can blame them for thinking that they need to make something new to make Michigan Football better, which doesn't EVER need to happen.  If something new is going to come about, it's going to be a natural. actually grassroots thing, not something proposed to the CSG by an underclassmen who wears those ridiculous Ann Arbor Fucking Michigan shirts (which should all be put into a fire and burned, along with plenty of the people that wear them).

Again.

OOOOH YEAH

THEY DID!

No.

This cannot happen.  It will not catch on even if he gets the funding it will not happen.  Ask anyone who has been in the Basketball bands over the last 5-6 years. This will turn into another Let's Go, Michigan and whatever the hell else we played.  I don't even remember the names.  The most that will happen is it will get pumped into the stadium like the Nickleback-ian POS thing for a slow but inevitable death.

Just don't let him waste the University's money on something this ridiculous.  The kid probably just wants to get his name out there, which he has. Too bad he doesn't realize he's going to fund the next aweful party-centric song that people who've lost a few too many brain cells love. Like this.

Exactly

I'd rather win 2-1 than 7-4 every game against anybody.  Just look at the 2011-12 Kings. Good defense and great goaltending with a strong 4-line forecheck that wore everyone down by the time they reached the finals. We look lost in the defensive end too much.  I like winning, just not as much when it's sloppily with the lucky bounces.

Shutting out a bad opponent

Shutting out a bad opponent is good. Keeping a good opponent to two or less goals while still scoring like Gretzky is better.

That said, doesn't look like anyone can stop them right now.

Second semester the guy who

Second semester the guy who lived next to me got a girlfriend that was a screamer.  I was minding my own business watching TV in my room when they went at it again at 2pm for the 4th day in a row.  By then, I'd made a plan.  I opened my window and propped my door open, turned on Johnny Cash's version of Hurt, and turned it up to 11.

Never heard her again.

I lived 2 doors down from Feagin when that happened. The dumbass who set the fire didn't even get the right room.
