This is great stuff as always.  Thanks, Matt!

I prefer the old one by a mile.  I'm generally more interested in the board than anything else, and the board is harder to use for reasons that have already been listed by others.  The occasional crashes of the old site were preferable to the constant (as of yet) inhospitality of the new board.

06/12/2018 - 4:27pm It would be interesting to…

It would be interesting to know whether site traffic is down generally or whether people are just posting less.  It may only be the latter, in which case it may not be a priority to fix it.

06/11/2018 - 2:22pm We posters also have to…

We posters also have to realize that we are (I think) only a small percentage of the blog's readers.  I'm largely ignorant of this stuff, but I believe a view of the blog that includes posting generates no more money than a view of the blog that does not include posting.  The redesign of the blog might cause a net increase in views even if it decreases visits to the blog by long-time posters.  I vaguely remember Brian saying at the end of the Hoke era that another blogger had reminded him that posters aren't any more valuable as customers than readers who don't post.

I’ve done the same as far as checking the blog less.

06/09/2018 - 3:40pm I’d like to be able to see…

I’d like to be able to see the board on the front page. I’d also like the sticky threads to be moved (at least at some point). I’d like the threads to look essentially as they did before. The new threads are harder to follow.

06/08/2018 - 3:50pm Yes to this.  Please call…

Yes to this.  Please call that number if you need to.  Things really can get better.  Terrible situations are often more temporary than they appear.

06/06/2018 - 10:31pm I prefer the old site all…

I prefer the old site all the way around so far.

Now, please remove yourself from my lawn.

06/06/2018 - 7:23pm I couldn’t bring myself to…

I couldn’t bring myself to imagine him leaving for the NBA. This is just about the best of news.

06/03/2018 - 4:53pm My guesses:

1. That one fella who’s not starting;
2. The guy with the hair;
3. The player who was really good in high school but whose college career hasn’t gone the way he’d hoped.

05/30/2018 - 4:58pm Great!

I think another year of Beilein coaching is just what Mr. Matthews needs.

05/25/2018 - 12:56pm The only difference between me and those billionaires... that they have about a billion dollars more than I do.

05/23/2018 - 1:20pm I used to invest only in pork belly futures

But the commies shut down the market.

05/21/2018 - 10:44am That's fantastic

Is it too late for me to sign up to be on the team? My mom will bring orange slices to practice.

05/16/2018 - 5:05pm I'm not sure how unpopular this is, but...

...I was not a fan of people disliking RR for yelling, using the word "ain't," and/or considering nacho dip a delicacy.  He was hired to coach football (which he admittedly failed at), not teach Emily Post's rules of etiquette.

05/15/2018 - 4:23pm As Muhammad Ali said...

It ain't braggin' if you can do it.

05/15/2018 - 11:54am Yes indeed

It's on between the Proctor & Gamble Variety Hour and the Jack Benny Show.

05/15/2018 - 10:24am I am for this

Let's go for another twenty years.

05/12/2018 - 8:21pm It’s chocolates and a gift card for my mom

I don’t expect anyone to give me anything, though, which is typical.

05/11/2018 - 6:13pm It's hard not to like this guy a lot so far

I doubt he'll see the field this year, but you have to admire the way he's handling himself.

05/10/2018 - 11:33am That's my take too

I don't like this conversation, because it seems silly to nitpick either guy.  They are/were both remarkable players.  But Jordan was the mentally toughest athlete I think I've seen.  He was, as you say, just an absolute killer.

05/09/2018 - 8:49pm Edit

Never mind. I like ice cream.

05/09/2018 - 8:48pm I didn’t see the report you did & can’t vouch for the details

But the bias response team is real.

05/02/2018 - 1:00pm I just hope everyone has given serious thought... the cooties outbreak that is going to come from this.

04/30/2018 - 9:54pm This is the future of all sports

There will only be playoffs. And thanks to the magic of CGI, everyone’s favorite team - regardless of which team that is - will win the championship in dramatic fashion every year. Any word to the contrary will be dismissed as fake news.

04/30/2018 - 7:24pm We’re going to need Casey Stengel…

04/27/2018 - 1:39pm The Fog of War with Robert McNamara

It's one of the best movies that I've seen of any type.

04/26/2018 - 10:14am "black and white thinking"

He was clearly using that phrase to mean something like "all or nothing" or "lacking in nuance."

04/26/2018 - 9:50am What does this even mean?

04/25/2018 - 6:54pm Hey

Daytonians invented the airplane, invented the electrical starting motor, contributed to the Manhattan project, and helped break the Enigma code (the second time).  We've just had a bit of a letdown these last 75 years or so.

04/22/2018 - 9:32pm I don’t think it’s clear he meant to imply...

...race was an issue. I read his statement to mean that the police can’t say he’s mentally ill without a doctor evaluating him (which isn’t true, of course, if we’re just talking about an officer saying it seems like he needs counseling).

04/22/2018 - 9:29pm ?

He may not be able to appreciate the effects of his actions. Or maybe he’s unable to appreciate the seriousness of those effects. It’s a malfunction either way. He should try to take responsibility for his actions as best he can, but his ability to do that may be compromised.

04/22/2018 - 9:22pm That statement was not what I’d hoped for

It’s not clear at all that this situation has been resolved. He almost certainly still needs counseling.

04/19/2018 - 4:13pm recruiting a PG for 2019

That seems a little odd given that Z, Brooks, and DeJulius are all slated to be on the team that year.  I have to assume one of those guys has privately revealed to Coach Beilein that he is a replicant and that Coach fears he'll be "retired" before 2019.

04/16/2018 - 3:23pm Fun facts about Manute Bol

He had more career blocked shots than points, but he also once hit six three-pointers in a half.

He supposedly killed a lion.

He spent much of his retirement trying to raise money to help his native Sudan.  This included becoming licensed as a jockey for publicity purposes.

04/14/2018 - 2:15pm This is hard

It’s not a surprise. It makes sense. We can’t ask anything more of him. But I’ll miss him just the same.

I’m three short years he went from being an unknown quantity who struggled at times with English to being the heart of the team. He’ll leave with two Big Ten Tournament titles, a Sweet Sixteen, and a trip to the final. And he helped give Michigan a winning attitude that had been missing for a couple of years. Not bad, big fella!

I’ll happily root for Mo for the rest of his career. I hope it’s a great one.

04/12/2018 - 10:15pm Well, I hope he finds a good place to land

He never quite looked comfortable on the court in his time in AA, but he’s a talented guy. He had an Indiana offer IIRC.

04/12/2018 - 10:12pm Re: Kelly’s offense

He’s said that he doesn’t value running from a QB as much as accuracy.

As for Speight, he leaves with a pretty good record as a starter (14-3 if you count the Purdue game). I wish his career at Michigan hadn’t ended on a dirty hit. Hopefully he’ll do well in LA.

04/09/2018 - 4:34pm Re: Poole on defense

I'm optimistic too, FWIW.  His mistakes seemed to be your typical freshman miscues.

04/09/2018 - 10:51am You take that back!

Chester A. Arthur was a prince!  A prince!

04/06/2018 - 10:28am Another way to look at it:

McElwain and his wife gave up $400k (or something like that) to make two disabled people's lives better.

04/05/2018 - 1:31pm Burke's breakout has been fun to watch

LeVert is having a pretty good year too.

04/04/2018 - 10:33am We may know what happened with Patterson

Ole Miss hired his brother.  That flirts with being an NCAA violation but isn't inherently one.  He also partly grew up in Louisiana, so this wasn't a guy from Chicago somehow landing in Mississippi.

04/03/2018 - 4:50pm oh shit

Thank goodness they're okay.  This is a good reminder that last night was just a game.

04/03/2018 - 2:47pm This team was somewhat deceptive when it came to...

...shooting.  They were capable of games like the A&M game, but the starting five of Z, Rahk, Matthews, Livers, and Mo was not a great shooting bunch overall.  This was not the 2013 team or last year's team in that respect.  And this makes it all the more remarkable that they did what they did.  If you thought a Beilein team would ever make the final while generally shooting poorly in the tournament, you're a much better prognosticator than I am.  Shooting finally helped cost them a game, but it took great effort by the players and great coaching by the staff to get them to that game in the first place.

04/03/2018 - 12:58am To add to that

I’ll admit now that I wished at one point that DJ Wilson would transfer. He looked like he simply didn’t know how to play basketball. But then he went from clueless to a first round pick over the course of just twelve months. So yes indeed, let’s have some patience.

04/03/2018 - 12:50am I might be getting old too, but...

...I’m not overwhelmingly disappointed right now. Watching this bunch accomplish what they did while being led by a man with the integrity, work ethic, and ability of John Beilein is a pretty great reward for being a Michigan fan. Life is too short to sit around feeling sick about this (though I do to some extent) when there’s so much to appreciate.

04/03/2018 - 12:35am I wasn’t convinced...

...this team would make the tournament at the start of the year. I’ll take a Big Ten tournament title and a trip to the NCAA final in a season that starts that way any time. This was a blast, much more than I dared hope for. Michigan appeared to have a hole at PG and a hole at the four at one point and then later had a SF whose game seemed broken. And even Mo and Rahk had their bad games. Somehow turning all that into a team that will hang two banners this November was pretty damn great.

04/02/2018 - 6:17pm Yes, or close the wall up with our Wolverine dead*

*Well, maybe not literally.

04/02/2018 - 5:20pm This great

Thanks for this, Seth.
