|06/20/2018 - 9:26pm||Good summary of what Spath…||
Good summary of what Spath said... it's not that Hughes has taken classes and done poorly in them, but that he's simply not had the time to take all the classes he needs in the first place in order to qualify. That's not Michigan's fault.
These hockey players have a completely different life in HS than most basketball players—many of the hockey kids don't play for HS teams (if those teams exist at all) but rather are playing for independently sponsored teams that might be playing games hundreds of miles away from their homes. That plays hell with attending to academics.
The vast majority of basketball players by contrast are playing for their high school teams within close distances to their homes, and since they're in HS on a daily basis, it's far more feasible to do what's necessary to get academically qualified.
If it were as feasible for basketball players to go directly to the pros out of HS as it is for hockey, college basketball would very quickly lose a large portion of its best players to the pros, or to its minor leagues.

You're inferring incorrectly if you think my question implied I believe Harbaugh should be fired after a 9-3. I do not. Nor would I if we go 8-4, which is my own guess for our season.
Harbaugh is not infallible or perfect, but he deserves—based on his record—a much, much longer leash than either RR or Hoke got.
You're right about Peterson. That's a fantasy that ain't happening, ever.

"Jim Harbaugh doubled down on Tru Wilson as Michigan's No. 3 running back this week on his podcast. "He's going to play a lot this year."
This is simultaneously encouraging on Wilson's behalf and depressing as hell with respect to our RB recruiting in general. Whether it's just bad luck or bad identification of talent, something's off.

Speaking primarily of the visual design/look and feel, it's a clunky, awkward, poorly-worked out disaster. If I was teaching a design class and had assigned the project of redesigning a new user interface for MGoBlog as a project, this solution would have gotten a C- at best. I'm actually amazed it's as poor as it is, given the amount of time under development and the external resources brought to bear on it.
It's an AMC Pacer.

Not the same exact issue, but signing in on the iPhone was a clusterfuck since the touchscreen function was bunged up—there was no correlation between where I was touching the screen and where the typed letters showed up.
The solution was to turn the phone sideways to landscape orientation, and the touchscreen function worked at that point.
I'm surprised at the small number of comments on board posts that would normally draw dozens of replies in short order, the like the Rashan Gary post—just 17?

It's never a good thing to lose a 4-star, but but I seem to remember his commitment was a bit of a surprise. That's what 247 says as well. I'm never surprised when a deep south kid with no direct ties to Michigan or the midwest decommits, though.
I can't verify the background of his original commitment via a search on MGoBlog since there's no actual search function.

It's the clunkiest, most awkward-looking new website I've seen in a long time. Somehow they've managed to produce something that looks older than the previous version.

I was wondering if the necessity to make it mobile-friendly was hamstringing the visual design. I'm a designer, not a tech guy, so I can only guess at the constraints the technical side of things imposed.
I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually and won't think about it, but I'm still surprised.
I doubt very much that the top banner looks the way it does because of Drupal or mobile requirements, though. Lord.

The functionalities and features of the new site are probably fine, but visually? yeeeesh. It looks as outdated, if not moreso, as the previous version.
And that new top banner? From the background images to the typography, it's horrific. I'm actually surprised it's this bad. Maybe it's a placeholder...
The only caveat I can make is that I've had to design sites within a Drupal framework in the past and it's pretty damn limiting.

|06/04/2018 - 9:34am||One way of dealing with them||
Rent a gigantic abandoned factory or warehouse.
Place an arsenal of loaded weapons of every description and all the ammo they need in the center of the facility in a separate glassed-in room that has doors on opposite sides. All the ordnance is easily identifiable.
Invite all the hooligans/thugs/paramilitaries in the area with promises of free booze, dope, women, and weapons. One tribe goes into the north entrance, the other into the southern entrance.
Once a suitable number is in, lock the doors, and turn out all the lights except for those that floodlight the central weapons dump in the glassed-in room, visible for everybody to see.
Flashbangs go off overhead.
Come back in 8 hours.
Repeat as necessary.

|06/02/2018 - 9:36am||Given Beilein's character and personality||
I can easily envision him doing the interview strictly as a courtesy to the Pistons' interest in him, as in "It's the polite thing to do."
If he did the interview as leverage because he's been frustrated in prior attempts to get more money for his assistants, then Warde Manuel is very bad at his job.
If he did this because he's sincerely interested in moving to the NBA, that would be the most baffling thing to me. Beilein can retire at Michigan as a legit legend. If he goes to the NBA, the chances are very high he will retire by getting fired.

I've been listening to Sam long enough to have a pretty good feel for what he's trying to convey with his words and intonation, and it came through pretty clear he's quite sure—based on his current knowledge—that Smith will commit to Michigan.
Which is funny given that there is an MGoBlogger whose handle I can't recall who was assuring us a couple of months ago that Smith didn't even have Michigan in his top three and this inside info was based on the commenter's alleged friendship with Smith's wrestling coach.
