I thought Denard played a great game, and his usage was perfect. He's not going to be the "fantasy stat" God he was last year. God willing he will stay in one piece, and Michigan will win football games.
I'd draw a parallel between running no huddle spread with Nick Sheridan/Steven Threet to putting Denard in I-formation for the entire game. Fortunately it didn't/wont happen.
And since when are clock-control concepts "idiotic"? Have you really lost so much connection to reality that you think some manipulation of statistics(taken totally out of context in game situations with literally millions of variables that cannot be accounted for) make the convictions of minimum 95% of football coaches idiotic? You've got a pretty high opinion of yourself dude.
Those two incredible sacks(one leading to the toughdown) were great, but my favorite play: With like 6:15 to go first half he'd just broken up a pass, and a Western Michigan receiver grabbed Kovacs facemask with both hands...and Kovacs swatted him down to the ground like a fly. If that was Suh he'd be facing a fine from the nfl, as it is he just gets my admiration and gratitude. (and a bit of guidance from Brady Hoke)
But I believe that "Thunderstruck" has been used in a similar capacity. For the record, I am all in for commisioning AC/DC to put together a song specific to Michigan football. As it is I find much of the "Pop Evil" hatred to be much Brian inspired and overblown. It was a fun atmosphere. Mitch McGary had a good time. Thats a win for me.
Obviously there are going to be fewer possessions and lower scores. This is a good thing. I know that Brian has gone on record criticizing coaches who think that "Fewer possessions mean better defense", but if I had a dollar for every nfl coach who said something to the effect that "We're going to do everything we can to keep the ball out of Aaron Rodgers hands" I would be a millionaire. With our depth(or lack thereof) on defense thats just smart football.
You've got to be impressed with Borges's flexibility. If Rodriguez had been capable of utilizing Threet's mediocre skills instead of trotting Nick Sheridan out on the field running spread Toledo probably doesn't happen. With that said, yeah, Denards numbers are likely not going to be heisman calibre. Obviously, if he is 100% for MSU and OSU I will take that trade every day of the week and twice on Saturday.
If you liked Brady Hoke before the game, you probably like Brady Hoke after. If you're a self-aborbed pedantic douchebag, you'll probably find every reason under the sun to rip on Hoke and Brandon. I guess that isn't that much like an electoral debate. Nevermind.
I've got a relatively new sharpie. What size do you need? I'm really good at stick figures, Bart Simpson and Ninja turtles too...Which you looking for?
Watching Brian Kelly on the sidelines I had a grim moment of certainty that he was going to have a stroke right there on the football field. Brought back some bad memories.
I went to a local high school football game yesterday, and this town is kind of Dylan East(football field is in the middle of a cornfield) and the head coach was rocking a headset...And I had the sneaky suspicion that the coach had the tigers game patched in...
That quarterback is going to be seeing Kovacs in his nightmares. Kovacs had a couple of highlight-quality hits, and Western's equipment manager really needs to get that kid's helmet on tighter.
Western's band looked like the kids who didn't get picked at the IM for pickup basketball(t-shirts tucked into mesh shorts...never a good look). Our band made them look like rank amateurs, as per usual.
Brian is neither an idiot nor a moron. I would definitely go with equal parts stubborn and delusional. Rodriguez was grossly incompetent at at least 60% of his job, and I dont think anyone is going to argue with that. They've just become so infatuated with that other 40% that they think its all that matters.
And you just crossed it. There is ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with what goes on between you and Brian behind closed doors. It just clouds your judgement. That is all. You have nothing to be ashamed of.
However
There are people dying of aids right now, and its hardly a laughing matter.
I am so glad I dont have to view every news article through a haze of bitter cynicism. I am so glad I dont have to check with Brian before I form an opinion on something someone has thought written or said. I am so glad I can appreciate a pretty turn of phraise without worrying if it is sufficiently stylish or groundbreaking to impress the cool kids. I am so glad I dont have to have long obscure monologues just to justify routing for Michigan football. You all must be so unhappy. I feel sorry for you.
I can only assume that Brian was talking about other race-related Whitlock pieces. The race in sports conversation is always going to be there, whether we actually have it or not. As long as I'm getting Peyton Hillis in the third round you wont see me complaining.
Because obviously you aren't going to get a lot of argument from me on that point...but its still kinds rude. Say you're sorry, then we can have ice cream.
Word of mouth can be even dumber than the internets. 6 players kicked off the team, two of them starters, swampland in Florida, what time does the bridge pivot over to the island...blah blah blah there are too many spartans in my life.
You're going to have a hard time convincing me that anything besides Michigan's tradition landed them that "New Year's Day" bowl game. And if you're seriously pointing to that game as justification for keeping Rodriguez....wow. just wow.
I expect that Michigan will win 3/4 of their games. I expect Michigan will win at least half of their rivalry games. I expect Michigan will be a fixture in the top 25. I expect Michigan will win at least half of their bowl games. That is all.
What do I hope for? The sky is the limit. The way Hoke is recruiting, the sky is the limit.
There is more information here(and faster) than on the next ten sights combined. That is why I am here. My problem is with Brian's neverending assertion that "They're trying to destroy what I love"(this being the ghost of Rich Rodriguez). All the time, every single thing that Brian rails against is an attempt to SAVE that which I love, Michigan football.
Watching him come apart at the seams hasn't been particularly funny or enlightening. Mostly sad. Substitute "Man Ball" and "We are ND" for "Tigerblood" and "Winning" and you start to see the young Warlock growing in our midst. What a fucking waste.
What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I figure Beanie breaks out as the only back in AZ, either that or he falls flat on his face and I protect feature back Ryan Williams. Bases covered.
Dude has looked like he was shot out of a cannon every carry this year. Its almost like the Peyton Hillis situation--If the redskins are interested in winning, they'll give Hightower the ball.
If halftime entertainment means I can get through the bathroom line, get my wife a pretzel and a soda, and get back to my seat before kickoff, then bring on the frisbee dogs.
Seriously though, in terms of basketball halftime...more frisbee dogs. I'm not even kidding.
And if they want to put together a stuffed wolverine to snuggle with kids at women's basketball...Who the hell cares? Serously?
For the record, props to whoever put the Michigan music video together. I dont think we need to be playing it on the scoreboard, but in terms of random internet pump up video I thought it was very good, and rather dickish of Brian to tear it down.
You win the reading comprehension award today. The argument is that the RUNNING BACKS did not carry enough of the load under Rich Rod. Thanks for your input though.
Lets examine what exactly has got Brian's panties in a bundle.
UM Prac-Teams in the B1G that run the ball the best do a certain blocking drill.
UM did it today - entire team playing with better leverage
"One of the things I hadn’t seen in a (Michigan) practice recently is when you see one of the best running teams in the league and the drills they do; I saw those drills at Michigan. That’s an indication they’re going in the right direction.”
UM Prac - Defense will improve significantly - because of offense scheme, coaching emphasis, simplicity, different packages, and pressure
UM Prac- No surprise prac was much different than recent past. More emphasis on Kick Game (Brady coached it),emphasis on D (Brady coached it)
In summary...A. Michigan did a drill he likes, and they appear to be playing with better leverage. B. eeeeeeee Mattison C. Practice was different(shocker)
Did I miss the part where he said that Rodriguez was an incompetent boob? Seriously, because I know some have made that argument pretty convincingly...anyone? Anyone?
Go ahead and track Denard's production as the year wore on. Quality of opponent played a role in that I'll concede, but you cant tell me Denard was the same player against OSU that he was against ND. Thats why I care about RB production.
But it doesn't tell you much about production. How many yards per game? More importanly, how many times did the non-Denard rushing game move the chains?

Probably right behind the loser of Nebraska/Wisconsin. Both these teams look legit...Particularly Nebraska.

I've never been good at hyperbole.

That video Uber Alles.
I'm sure Brian or one of his MPD's will put together something to the beat of "Devil Town" but that one gets my vote.

In short...Dude you're an ass.
Did Brian tell you what to type? Be careful not to hit your head on the table when you get up...
Does the taste of Brian's baby batter change seasonally? Do you taste more of Miss Rita's nacho dip in the fall?

It isn't hard to show a win/loss improvement when you start at 3.
What evidence do you have that Rodriguez was ever EVER going to put together a reasonable defense? I'm all ears.
Maybe if we'd just given Mariucci a few more years...

After the last three years, I will be happy with that.
Peppering drug-induced incoherant ramblings with catch phrases doesn't ring a bell? Or are you not familiar with Brian's cat-neuron piece?
I guess you're right, Sheen rarely dabbles in misinterpreting pretentious literary references. Maybe next tour.

Or your friends are flat out special. No way Brees CJ and CJ go to the same team...I almost doubt it in a 6 team league...
Dude has looked like he was shot out of a cannon every carry this year. Its almost like the Peyton Hillis situation--If the redskins are interested in winning, they'll give Hightower the ball.
Closure is good, and for the record I do believe that he gave it his best, such as it was.
Hey, Brian says this video is the devil, so IT IS.
*Kisses life-sized B. Cook poster, crawls into custom embroidered Rich Rodriguez snuggie, and goes back to sleep*
Would you rather protect Ryan Williams or Mikel Leshoure in a PPR league? Would you trade either for next year's 80'th pick?
We need some non-slot receivers in here STAT.

What could he possibly have said that Brian WOULDN'T have constured as a shot at RR?

One of them is running the ball. How did the tailbacks do under RR?
LOL @ Brian still framing everything as a shot at RR. Keep fighting the good fight.
