Phone don't fail me now

09/07/2014 - 10:34am 31-0

Michigan was by far the worst performance of the day.

10/24/2012 - 12:53pm I wore my Mgoblog shirt for the Bama game

After its performance, it has remained on a hanger in the closet.  I'll give it another shot during the Ohio State game.  Maybe.  Surely it isn't really cursed.

09/22/2012 - 11:53pm Oregon vs Arizona

Guinness. For Strength.

09/03/2012 - 2:25pm Come on, Brian

The time to be all introspective and "what it means to be a fan" isn't after getting our asses handed to us by Oversigning U.  I'm a fan, and expected us to win.  After the first 3 and out, I was hyped.  After we got a first down, I was sure we were going to prove everyone wrong.  Then, Blake goes down, they score, score some more, Jesus, there's 8 minutes left in the first quarter, Vincent is running up the middle, oh it's 31 - 0.

I'm 46.  Two years ago, during 5-7, as a Rodriguez fan, I spent most of the year yelling at the TV with Dad.  I walked out on a couple games.  Til that point, my friends has always said I was the most positive fan they knew.  I'd live and breathe for Saturdays, but I'd never let them get me down for more than a couple hours.  For some reason, that 5-7 just brought out all the negative, and dwelling, and I didn't like it.

So since then, I'm back to letting it slide off.  Saturday, once I realized folks were right, and we just weren't up to the level of Bama (where I live, BTW, which means this week at work will be FUN), I just sat back and watched the game without letting it get to me.  I'd say we should run Rawls up the middle instead of Vincent, and where's Hayes (can we try something different?) and for God's sake, RUN DENARD!  But I wasn't yelling, and I wasn't pissed.  It was what it was.  We're midstream changing the makeup of the team back to pro from spread.  Nick Saban is an asshole who doesn't give a shit about the kids on his team, he'll chew them up and spit them out if they don't meet his level of excellence, doesn't care if he leaves them high and dry with nowhere to go.  If he can get away with signing 25 a year, he'll keep winning championships until he drops dead.  We can't match that.  Saban was a failure in the NFL.  This is all he has.  Win at all costs.

But if we keep signing folks like we are, we'll be close in a couple years.  We'll be in those playoffs.  We'll be able to play Bama as close as anyone.  I think we'll beat them every now and then.  It'll be great.

There's just no reason now to be upset about losing to that NFL-lite machine.  Have a drink.  Let it wash away.

10/27/2011 - 2:53pm re: Brandon

The bit about the staff not getting rings post-bowl game was news to me, and came across as exceedingly petty.  I assume Brandon was behind that.

03/20/2011 - 5:18pm I'm so looking forward to next season

This team is amazing. With more experience and some good kids coming in, we'll definitely make some noise.

03/18/2011 - 3:06pm Beautiful

That's their best game of the year.  Now they gotta better that in the next round!

02/04/2011 - 7:23pm Ha ha ha!

Yeah, I had over 100 points at one point, but they expired.  Gotta get more active!

02/04/2011 - 7:08pm Page views

Everything I've read says slideshows are just a way to generate more page views

02/04/2011 - 7:07pm King Kaufman at Bleacher Report

So King Kaufman has hired on at BR to try and raise the level of the writing.  Not just by writing himself, but, I guess, editing others, etc.  I've always ignored BR due to all the bad things I've heard about it.  I'll try and keep up with him, since I loved his writing at Salon and his own blog.  Probably skip the rest.

Unfortunately, the second thing he posted was a slideshow.  When he took over the front page editing at Salon, there was an explosion of slideshows.  Not good.  Several folks questioned him about it at BR.  Hopefully it won't be all he does.

11/04/2010 - 2:52pm HA HA HA!

Nope, but I wouldn't doubt he took the same approach!

11/04/2010 - 1:58pm I don't remember anything about this game

Got hammered beforehand, and maintained the level of hammered.  There was a Halloween party going on as well, so I was in-and-out before I just stayed out.  I just read the summary and think I'll leave it at that.  What a debacle.

10/06/2010 - 4:09pm FLAWLESS VICTORY FTW

That cracked me up.

09/03/2010 - 3:19pm And with the first preview

Football is here. Gentlemen, this year we turn this sucker around.

Go Blue!

07/23/2010 - 2:09pm Saban

I had the exact same rant about Saban at lunch today.  That guy is just unbelievable.

Living in Bama, I have to put up with him year round.  I've told people I hate him since he'll always be a Spartan to me.  But hearing the locals laud his quick turnaround, without them acknowledging what he's doing to kids, has deepened that hate immensely.

06/23/2010 - 1:25pm HFS, that was a great game.

HFS, that was a great game. I'm on vacation this week.  My car is in the shop.  A neighbor is a life-long US soccer fan.  I've followed the last 2 World Cups via radio/this year TiVo.  I watched this at the neighbor's and everyone heard us screaming.  I love sports.

And now, the pool before the afternoon games.  Don't swim, lotta beers so far...

04/21/2010 - 11:24am I agree

See also: 549 bowl games after Jan 1. And moving the early games on the 1st to later in the day. And the championship game is Jan 10 next year. $$$$$$$ FTW.

03/12/2010 - 2:28pm Ugh

Keeping up with this via ESPN GameCast on the iPhone, I'm thinking the timeout is taking way too long. 66-66, 10 seconds left. Come on already!

Score changes. Two new plays. Manny hits 2, Turner 3.

Are you kidding me?

Sums the whole damn year up perfectly. Damn. Damn damn damn.

03/09/2010 - 3:07pm Yeah, man

Loved the video last year, and I'm sure I'll enjoy this one when I'm at home and away from the work filter, but I think I want this year to be something along the lines of "you fuck with me and you fuck with death." Death Wolverines, with opponent's innards spilling out of vast, tooth-filled maws.

03/01/2010 - 1:13pm Spectacular

Well done

02/26/2010 - 1:42pm Yup

I eagerly await the day when I read about the Freep closing down. Haven't read anything there since the initial story, and plan on keeping it that way, until their Goodbye column, when I will laugh and laugh and laugh.

02/09/2010 - 3:17pm Still confusing

So the rule was changed so that you can sign up to 28 to fit into 25 but Alabama still signed 29 and Auburn signed 32 because those can be backdated to the previous year if some come in early but I thought that's where the extra 3 fit in but no you might have some in this class who won't make it so you may as well sign 50.

OK. I think I got it.

(amazed that Bama even has *1* slot open last year to fit one back, or whatever)

02/04/2010 - 10:11pm There was a point in this

There was a point in this game where I asked Novak via the TV what exactly it was he was doing for us in this game, as I noticed a particular lack of grit. I believe he then hit a 3. Later, he got a rebound and actually hit the resulting layup. The kid won't stop.

Just wish he could hit more shots. Like, the rest of the team, too.

I'll keep watching. It's gonna kill me, but I'll keep watching.

01/27/2010 - 3:36pm Yeah, this game sorta made me

Yeah, this game sorta made me realize it wasn't gonna happen this year. I keep expecting the shots to start dropping, and they don't. One freaking point last night. Just one more shot down. Gah!

Oh well. We'll win the NIT.

01/26/2010 - 3:36pm Flabalanche FTW!

Flabalanche FTW!

01/21/2010 - 10:40am I think Stu has been great

I think Stu has been great recently, but he and Novak definitely need to practice some layups. They both have been missing point blank shots, and it killed us last night.

I did feel good about how we played, though. I actually thought we would win, right up until Wisconsin tied us. Then, I knew it was over, heh. Oh well, bring on Purdue.

12/03/2009 - 3:15pm just a little arrrggghh

I know it's way early in the season, but after spending the last couple months thinking the football team would get better, I was hoping for a little relief from the basketball team. Last night, when they got down by 10 so quick, and couldn't guard anyone or hit anything, I got that feeling of "here we go again." That sucks.

But it *is* early and I completely believe they'll get their act together and get a spot in The Dance. Just do it sooner rather than later, please?

11/29/2009 - 7:03pm Can't hit the 3

And since we get out-rebounded all the time, we end up on the losing end. Too small on defense, too.

When the 3s start dropping, we'll start winning.

11/21/2009 - 5:35pm He'll be much better next year

That last pick was just him pressing too much. He couldn't even see what was plain in front of his face. That's okay. I fully expect him to make a big leap in abilities next year.

11/21/2009 - 5:32pm Agree

We were overwhelmed with injuries on the offensive side of the ball. I hope the running backs can stay healthy next year. Molk coming back should help the line immensely.

On defense, I have to assume we'll be better when we can work Turner and others who didn't see the field, much if at all, into the rotation next year. I'm not expecting a championship, but I want to see marked improvements.

I'll be counting the days.

10/21/2009 - 2:33pm Thanks, Bill

Bill Martin has left Michigan at a great place. Coaches, facilities, finances, all better than what he started with.

I'm not concerned about anti-Rich Rod forces steering the AD search. They already fought that war and lost when he was hired. Everyone can see the improvement on the field this year. We'll close out strong and there won't be any reason for anyone to be worried about him getting run off.

10/21/2009 - 9:28am Not even worth talking about

It was a charity event. ESPN is trying to make a big deal out of this. That means I'll ignore it.

10/16/2009 - 4:21pm After they CATCH THE DAMN BALL

That's how it was stated before, and I just want to make sure it is in here. Just in case.

10/12/2009 - 12:54pm Hear Hear!

There were a lot of good things in that game. Both lines played great. Woolfolk seemed a vast improvement at corner. Denard got to play with the game on the line and drove us down the field. Sure, he made a mistake on the last play, but Tate throws into coverage as well. The fact we were right there with a top 10 team left me feeling much better than last week.

I came out of it really looking forward to the rest of the season. If we keep improving, cut down on the stupid turnovers, and maybe cover a tight end once in awhile, I still think we could hit 9-3.

09/21/2009 - 7:44pm Ha ha!

I saw the earlier warning and waited to read the game column until after watching last night's episode. First thing I saw was the updated warning, but I would have probably waited anyway.

09/14/2009 - 12:18pm Freaking great game

I never did give up on them. I always had a feeling the defense would come through when needed, and they did in the 3rd quarter and at the end of the 4th.

I was calling for Minor up the middle all game. Every time they ran that play, it seemed like 10+ yards. As long as he could stand it, I'd have just given him the ball and let him run over people.

I picked them to go 7-5 this season. Now I look at the schedule and see wins all over. Wow, this second year stuff is great!

09/12/2009 - 8:00pm Hell yes!

I'd say a hero in the making, but I think he's made it already!

09/04/2009 - 3:25pm Ha, beautiful!

Worth every second it took to download it via the iPhone (we don't get good reception in the cubicle farm here).

Soon: read preview, drink my own drink(s), and wait til tomorrow. 24 hours to go!

09/04/2009 - 2:37pm I'll be perfectly happy with

I'll be perfectly happy with 7 - 5. Throw in a bowl win, and good things should happen in 2010.

09/04/2009 - 11:42am A Deathbacker with a crazy

A Deathbacker with a crazy Crab People stance sounds like it should be alotta fun to watch.

I'm not the praying type, but I'll definitely light a candle for Graham.

09/03/2009 - 8:48pm Alright

Here we go.

We'll take care of business Saturday and then Minor can carry us against ND.

09/02/2009 - 2:52pm Looks good

Please, please, please let Forcier stay healthy. I think we've got a good enough set of RBs and receivers to have a darn good offense this year.

09/01/2009 - 5:39pm Hell yes, man. Hell yes.

Hell yes, man. Hell yes. Football is coming. I can't wait.

Several LOL moments reading this. I love this blog.

09/01/2009 - 4:10pm Contact information

They seem to have put as much investigative power into finding the Contact link as they did their article.

The update is comical. Yes, thanks to readers for providing contact info for the mysterious Mr. Cook, whose site we have never, ever heard of. Really. Trust us. What?

08/30/2009 - 1:11pm Nice

I liked how at the end of the article, they tried to make a point that all the extra work didn't show on the field last year. Evidently the lack of a consistent QB and defense had nothing to do with 3-9. Let's see how things play out this year.

03/07/2009 - 2:54pm Woooo!
Great game for LLP.

Great game for LLP. DeShawn and Manny were there when we needed them.

01/12/2009 - 10:17pm Watch as much as you can

It's my favorite show. I bought the first season and watched it in a couple days. The second and third seasons went just about as fast, and then I was caught up for the last couple as they aired. A couple episodes at a time might be good, so you can get the hang of who everybody is. There's alotta faces to learn and put names to.

I've re-watched the first three seasons recently, and will be finishing up the last two soon. I hate the fact there won't be any more after that, dammit.

01/08/2009 - 2:25pm Heh, The Wire pics are great,

Heh, The Wire pics are great, but it's Marlo, not Marlon. HIS NAME IS HIS NAME!

01/07/2009 - 8:58pm halftime = overtime. And on a

2nd halftime = overtime. And on a lifting of the can, it was 2.5. Okay. Please don't kill me Michigan basketball!
