05/02/2018 - 11:41pm the Long March continues

What could go wrong?

02/15/2018 - 9:05pm ahem

Perhaps you should familiarize yourself with McElwain's work at Colorado State. Took the Rams from 114th in offensive S&P to 33rd in his 3rd and final season. It was well known that JM didn't take kindly to Saban's restrictions on his offense and he wanted to show what he could do unshacked in Colorado. It worked and they were a fun O to watch at the end.

01/26/2018 - 12:16pm give them credit

ESPN screws up indecent causes too.

01/24/2018 - 9:17pm facepalm

The article is referring to the Michigan Senate. Not the US Senate.

01/24/2018 - 9:03pm napalm would be my 2nd choice

Nuke it from orbit. Its the only way to be sure.

01/24/2018 - 9:00pm a true PR wizard

Best part of this is Ferguson's timely interview on Monday helped speed up this resignation.

Way to go Joel!

01/05/2018 - 8:10pm eh, fire up

As someone married to a Chip who roots for the football team but can't spend the time on details, I'm contractually obligated to keep up on doings in Mt Pleasant so I can intelligently answer questions each fall. Yeah, Enos was a tire fire as HC. Enos' career trajectory at the time pointed to an eventual HC position but he really needed some seasoning.

But I was surprised at how decent the Arkansas numbers were. Given the growing problems Bert couldn't get a handle on Enos really did a decent job there.

I'm curious to find out whether Enos has matured personally. The details are foggy now but he was a real jackass in Mt Pleasant.

12/06/2017 - 9:01pm Louie was cool too

Great minds something something.

12/06/2017 - 8:59pm Ella was cool

Potato, potahto.
Tomato, tomahto.

Let's call the whole thing off.

11/21/2017 - 8:40pm um

No, the position of Space Emperor of Space is already taken.

10/31/2017 - 12:16am mmm... radishes

They're good radishes, Brain.

10/29/2017 - 12:09pm mea culpa

Yeah, I wasn't clear with my point. Someone around here yesterday said the reason our running game worked yesterday was Peters showed the Subscribers they had to back off their safeties. No, the running game worked pretty well before the safeties backed off.

And that's why I needed the "its still Rutgers" caveat.

10/29/2017 - 1:41am its still Rutgers

Based on the highlights, the Cable Subscribers didn't start backing off their safeties (in normal down/distance) until the 4th quarter.

10/28/2017 - 9:24pm Dilly Dilly!

Would you prefer a spiced honey mead wine instead?

10/28/2017 - 9:02pm Dilly Dilly!

May Staee reside in the Pit of Misery evermore!

09/26/2017 - 10:09pm ok with the others tho

Terrible list.

I had Cissoko at #176.

09/19/2017 - 10:22pm what I really want

The best retro Nike shoe should be a re-introduction of the tough white canvas swoosh pre-Jordass era. Light blue swoosh on white canvas and heavy, tough sole that lasted forever. My last pair lasted me over 20 years and I'm sorry to this day that I threw them away.

09/19/2017 - 10:15pm thank you

Bill Laimbeer said it best when a TV reporter came to his house to get his reaction to the news that famous Bulls' player was retiring:

"Michael who?"

09/15/2017 - 10:32pm as a Navy fan I'm going to enjoy seeing Howdy Doody crushed

I look forward to seeing what Hurst does when AF tries to Midline him. I also expect AF to call a good number of tosses when we use 4 DL.

09/10/2017 - 12:51pm where did Army get their game-changing coach again?

Monken is a good coach; Army is definitely on the upswing. They are still a ways off from getting the kind of recruits Navy snags - guys who if they get a crease can occasionally take it to the house against non-tomato can opponents.

Go Navy!

09/09/2017 - 9:03pm I thought someone would have done this by now

Shane! Come back!

I'll see myself out.

09/06/2017 - 11:23pm awesome!

Every time Chipotle makes someone sick I get BOGO offers. It's practically clockwork at this point.

08/29/2017 - 12:40am true

This. Jud was a good man and a fine coach. And when his teams had a PG they were awfully fun to watch. Jud never had a problem giving a good point the keys and allowing him to drive the car as fast as he wanted.

RIP.

08/17/2017 - 10:03pm maybe he ended up there

Pretty sure Montgomery went to Eastern.

06/06/2017 - 12:57am well......

In "Donnie Brasco" the focus of the story was changed to feature Pacino's Lefty character far more than the true story warranted. In fact, it took a lot of work to persuade Pacino that Lefty was the only part in that movie that fit him. The price of getting Pacino to play ball was to give Lefty more lines and make him more sympathetic.

The Brasco/Sonny Black relationship was in real life the far more important one, and Sonny Black was also a much more interesting character, with a few traits that go against the typical mob crew boss persona.

05/15/2017 - 11:13pm be happy

Don't worry; there are plenty of teachers who are no better at their jobs than Weis was at his.

04/11/2017 - 11:11pm classic

Its one of the best intros in TV history.

02/01/2017 - 8:25pm let's fix that

*Cindy*.

01/21/2017 - 12:41pm it was

The boy suffered a scrotal torsion this past spring. That made a football ban easier to sell.

Realisitically the kid could not ever be a D1 prospect anyway. He inherited his dad's lack of upper body strength. He squatted 255 this morning but missed reps in his 110 lb dumbbell bench. And he has major flexibility issues in his hips. Pad. Level.

01/21/2017 - 12:32am i love the game but.....

.... my 14-yo freshman is 6' 2", 245 lbs and we are not letting him play HS football. He played 8th grade ball and loved it. That's it.

Problem is damn near everyone in town thinks he should be playing. The cajoling doesn't stop.

01/11/2017 - 5:36pm it would be fun

I think Jasper can hold his own.

01/11/2017 - 5:35pm not as easy as it looks

That would be the assumption. Though there is a transition cost; not all slot ninjas can master the blocking skills necessary from an A-back. Its a tough position to play. The blocks themselves are not the only responsibility. Knowing who to block and how that changes based on how the OC sees the D divvying up the dive/QB/pitch responsibilities is just as important. Navy has had to throttle good running A-backs in the past who just weren't reliable enough in their blocking assignments.

Prime example would be Shun White, who thru one 14-game span over 2 seasons once had a > 10 y.p.c. But he couldn't stay on the field 100% because he kept blowing assignments.

01/11/2017 - 5:27pm but who is OC?

If Kenny leaves Navy then current OC Ivin Jasper almost certainly gets his old job. Big question is then who does Ken get to run the flexbone? Because he's a defensive guy, not a flexbone O guy. Though he does know it far better than non-flex OC's.

01/11/2017 - 5:23pm well.....

True, but PJ walked into a ridiculous amount of defensive talent at GT. Also Demaryius Thomas.

01/11/2017 - 5:20pm no

Please don't call it a wishbone. The Flexbone is not the Wishbone. The flexbone is essentially a marriage of the Run & Shoot and Wishbone. Flexing the A-backs out means the Flex has somewhat different requirements of the A & B-backs.

01/06/2017 - 7:49pm "Najee Harris' Trainer Decked

"Najee Harris' Trainer Decked Out in Michigan Gear"

Troll level: GOD

01/05/2017 - 1:43pm Eventually the R&S fell out

Eventually the R&S fell out of favor, for numerous reasons. The pass pro schemes were too simple; quarter rolls with the RB protecting the backside will not work against every blitz. Also had major issues with the new zone blitz schemes.

Did and still do love the way a "pure" Shoot puts RB close behind the QB.

01/05/2017 - 1:35pm We were the 2nd best team in

We were the 2nd best team in the league that season. Skins beat Atlanta, us and Buffalo to win it all. The Falcons were toast by end of 1st Q. Bills were put away by mid 2nd. The Lions lasted until mid-late 3rd.

During the offseason G Eric Andolsek was run over by an 18-wheeler while mowing his front lawn. And the moment was over.

12/27/2016 - 8:17pm Yes.

I approve of this comment.

12/18/2016 - 6:53pm Morningwheg sez

The bar is low. Really, really low.

12/18/2016 - 11:35am but before that

We're gonna chug-a-lug and shout.

12/18/2016 - 11:15am We're gonna let it all hang

We're gonna let it all hang down.

12/17/2016 - 11:15pm could this play a role?

Seemed like attendance was a bit thin for some of the home games.

11/29/2016 - 11:46am Creighton deserves to be a

Creighton deserves to be a COY candidate just as much as Fleck. And the Hurons are watchable too.

11/26/2016 - 12:02pm and Erich Honecker could par-TAY!

Moral equivalence much?

11/26/2016 - 11:59am sure

I hear Stalin was interesting too. Pol Pot was a barrel of laughs.

11/26/2016 - 11:55am yes but......

.... just for the record Fidel was a lefty.

11/15/2016 - 10:57pm or blame Jurgen

I fully expect John Brooks to announce tomorrow on his Twitter that he has ass cancer. About the only explanation for his play tonight.

11/15/2016 - 10:03pm but if we find replacements for Jones & Bradley.....

Yes. ESPN's FPI estimates we have a 41% chance of not making it to Russia with a loss tonight.

11/15/2016 - 9:59pm but I was mistaken

I was under the impression Omar Gonzalez plays soccer for a living.
