|12/21/2013 - 10:55am||Why?||
Why bother fighting with full facemasks and gloves on? Complete waste of time. Take off the mits and buckets or don't even bother...
|10/02/2013 - 8:05am||Thanks||
It makes a lot more sense seeing the receivers and defensive backfield. The reason I had difficulty understanding is because I was thinking "well if you have 2 corners covering 2 receivers, plus 2 safeties, who has the edge?" The assumption that I made incorrectly is that they would have a corner on each receiver (if the slot receiver at the top was at the bottom of the screen, they'd have to do this). Great point on the bubble screen issue, because we're allowing them to keep 9 guys near the box to stuff the run. If they have to walk their WILL out to the slot or have their boundary corner come across the formation to cover the slot, then we gain a numbers advantage in the box. If they walk the WILL out, that's one less block to make on the play you drew up. If they walk the boundary corner over, they have to adjust on the strong side of the line to have another force guy, and if they walk the safety that's over our slot receiver up, then we can go over the top on them. THROW THE BUBBLE!
As far as the precise alignment of the players in the diagram, I personally think it looks like the SDE is head up on Williams, which makes that an easier block on the tackle trap/power play. It looks like the tackles are in a 1-tech on the weak side and 3-tech on the strong side, which would lead me to believe that the SDE would be head up or outside shade of Williams (looks head up). Tough to tell for sure though from the camera angle.
|10/01/2013 - 11:15pm||Suggestion||
I'm just a young football coach in Canada that's just starting out, so I don't claim to know everything about schemes or anything. So my suggestions here might not even be useful. However, I don't think that's how the opposing defenses would really be lining up against some of the offenses that you showed us (Michigan) running.
For example, in the tackle trap play, who would be the force player to the strong side? Would it be a safety (not shown in the diagram)? If not, we would just run stretches or tosses all day against that alignment. We have two players aligned outside of their furthest edge player. They'd be absolutely killed if we tried to attack the edge just based on alignment alone.
I could understand that there could be a safety there, so I'm just looking for clarification because it's difficult to understand without the proper context. The other reason I could see them being aligned like this in the picture is just because it's difficult to be precise when using programs to draw up plays like this. The reason I think it is important to note and possibly correct something like this is because it changes the blocks that would have to be made. For example, if the strongside end is outside of Williams to have some sort of edge control, Williams no longer has to make a difficult reach block, which drastically changes what your expectations on how well the play could work out for us.
Again, I appreciate the work you put in, I'm just looking for clarification. Thanks.

No idea how you are just realizing this now. Maybe you guys aren't exposed to this moron as much in the States, but EVERYONE I know hates him.

|06/02/2013 - 5:17pm||Runner at third||
Why was the runner called safe at third? The announcer said obstruction I believe. If you compare that play to the last out of the game last night between Nebraska and Florida, I don't understand how this one was obstruction and that one was not.
|06/02/2013 - 4:41pm||Yes||
Bottom 4, 0-0, 2 outs. Romero grounded out to third (looked like she beat the throw), and Blanchard flew out to center
|06/01/2013 - 11:39pm||Pitchers||
I admittedly know nothing about softball, but have tuned in to try to watch the game tonight. The one girl has thrown over 150 pitches. Is this a usual occurrence? I'm pretty sure I saw earlier that the same pitcher will pitch twice in the same day in tourneys like this. Is it just not hard on your arm? Is there some type of limit or pitch count where a pitcher would be unable to be as successful once throwing a certain amount of pitches? It seems like having one great pitcher that is unhittable could win a shitty team a whole lot of games if nobody else ever has to pitch...

I was planning on drinking beer tonight until I saw this thread. Instead I went with Crown Royal Maple. You're a life saver, swan flu. (Seriously, that stuff is delicious)
|05/19/2013 - 12:27am||World Championship||
Couldn't think of a better way to describe the relevance of the IIHF World Hockey Championship. This thread has 3 comments now (including mine), and Switzerland is in the finals. SWITZERLAND!! Sochi 2014 can't come soon enough. Also, Lets Go Red Wings.

Last season, Shawn Hunwick played for the Blue Jackets like a week or something after finishing his his Michigan career.

I'll be at John Max watching the game. Haven't been there for a big event before but I hear they have a pretty good setup.

|03/31/2013 - 10:46am||Nothing||
Bergkamp has nothing to do with Michigan. It's just a hillarious job of commentating that shows the difference between American announcing and European announcing. I'm sure you could find plenty more examples of announcers going nuts that we could sync with football/basketball plays.
|03/28/2013 - 11:17am||Playoffs||
Have you watched the NHL playoffs before? When's the last time the top team in each conference met in the finals? The playoffs are a brand new season. Pittsburgh and Chicago are absolutely stacked, but all it takes is a goalie to get hot, a couple players to get injured, etc and suddenly things look a lot different.
|03/24/2013 - 2:44pm||TV channel||
For any Canadians on here, the game is on The Score in Canada.
|03/23/2013 - 11:33pm||Tickets tomorrow||
I had a great time today at the game. It didn't seem to be anywhere close to sold out. If I show up before the game and go to the box office, there should be tickets available right? Or should I just order some online?

That's just disgusting.
|03/11/2013 - 1:19am||Not sure it would work||
This sounds like a good idea, but I'm not sure it would work in practice. If the coach is going to decline the foul, they'll just have to inbound the ball again, and get fouled again over and over until the defensive team finally denied the inbound play and got the ball back. I supposed it could work though when a team is in a one and one situation. They could just decline until they are in double bonus. If you're going to do that though, you might as well just get rid of the one and one rule altogether.
|02/09/2013 - 9:16am||Bars near the Joe||
Sorry for thread jacking a little bit. I don't have enough points to create my own thread, and this is somewhat on topic for this thread I guess.
I just picked up tickets for free to the Wings game at 2:00. I'm from Windsor, so I want to head over early, watch the Michigan game at a bar, then head to the Joe for the Wings game. Any suggestions on where I should go to watch the game? Any place within walking distance of the Joe would be great. Doesn't even have to be a great bar, I probably won't drink anyways. Just need somewhere to go to watch.

Just from a quick search on mgoblue.com, it says the volleyball season ended in December... How could he have been at the volleyball game on his visit today? BUSTED

|12/03/2011 - 5:52pm||Couple quick questions||
I was just wondering, if Ok St passes Alabama, would Alabama still get the auto bid because they are top 4? Or can you only have 3 teams from the same conference when 2 our in the MNC and neither won the conference?
Also, is it possible for Va Tech to pass Stanford? That would get rid of the problem of Stanford getting an auto bid. Or is Stanford so far ahead of Va Tech that it wouldn't be realistic?
|07/09/2011 - 6:10pm||Well||
Then the ball is at the 34 as far as I understand the rule.
|07/09/2011 - 6:04pm||Where was||
Where was the ball when he stepped out of bounds at the 32? If the ball was at the 33 when he stepped out of bounds at the 32, the ball should be spotted at the 33 right?
|07/04/2011 - 12:47pm||I'm not sure why Denard is||
I'm not sure why Denard is outside the top ten, but in terms of pure speed, he definitely isn't the fastest in the NCAA. Denard ran 10.56 in the 100m in high school, which is blazing fast. However, Demps has run a sub 10 second 100m which is world class. Denard's PB in the 60m is 6.81, while Demps' is 6.53. That's a huge difference in the 60m.
The difference is Denard has ridiculous agility. His lateral quickness is insane. That's why his agility and acceleration are both 99 in the game. It's actually pretty accurate of how he really plays.

IMO, the Champions League is mainly useful for comparing teams from different countries. The EPL is 38 games long, so I think that shows who the best team is in England. So, if what you say happened, I'd say Man City is the top club in England. A 1 game elimination (or even home and away aggregate) doesn't show who the best team is necessarily. It's all a matter of opinion though. I'm sure a lot of people would disagree and think the Champions League is the end all be all.
This year, it doesn't matter anyways because Barcelona is clearly the best club in the world.

Giggs with a magical goal to win it. Man, that would be a great story.
Easily my favourite goal of all time.
|05/16/2011 - 11:56pm||I may be on to something||
Still have no idea who it is, but there's probably a decent chance that he's somewhere in here. By the way, I know that this is weird for me to look this up, I don't really care. I'm bored and had time to kill.
I used to play AAA hockey during draft year as well, so I somewhat understand the crazy things that happen. I wasn't on the draft list myself or anything, so I didn't personally have the same experience, but a couple of my teammates went on to be really good players at the next level. There were always a lot of scouts in the stands and as a goalie, I found it really tough to stay calm and focused. There really is a lot of pressure on kids to perform.
