We may have to get our digs…

We may have to get our digs in on St Thomas now while we still can. They just split a series with St Cloud State (5-4, 0-1) and we will see how they stack up against the Gophers this weekend.

And yes, I'm a UM (the real one in Ann Arbor) grad living in the Twin Cities so I'm probably biased. The Tommies are going to pour resources into hockey in a way that public Universities haven't if I had to guess.

It has been my impression…

It has been my impression that Jim H consciously tries to evolve as a coach and perhaps as a person. He was a lunatic when he came back to Michigan (in a good way) and then toned it down when feedback on his behavior was negative. His MANBALL strategies & playcalling weren't working so he swallowed his pride and brought in Gattis to install Speed In Space. His recruiting couldn't compete with the top 4 teams so he brought in a DC who could install a difficult-to-read defensive scheme to create a strategic advantage. His coaching staff was behind the times so he cultivated a youth movement with his coordinators. His young DC went back to the NFL so he is bringing in the one candidate most likely to continue the successes of the last DC with the least possible transition cost. And hopefully rewarding Clink for his hard work and success.

I'm not a die-hard football fan so I appreciate that Harbaugh's behavior reflects well on the University and in particular how a reasoning, thoughtful human being might conduct one's self. As far as we know we didn't pay players/ families under the table (recently . . . in football . . .) and we can be almost certain our competitors have. And we even took the high road on that front as well not complaining about an un-level playing field and dirty recruiting. Harbaugh was an early proponent of athlete rights with the transfer portal and N.I.L. I'm proud of the way Harbaugh represents Michigan and I'm glad he stuck around to continue leading the football team.

Regarding goal line offense,…

Regarding goal line offense, I agree that we seem to fall short in that one category. Why not use a Very Large Human such as Jordan Whittley as a fullback or RB for short yardage plays? I'd like to think that formation would be called Thunder Beaver but I'll defer to the coaching staff on that one.

Speaking of large objects to…

Speaking of large objects to plug holes in the defensive line I haven't heard Jordan Whittley's name mentioned lately. Is he likely to contribute this year? He seems like exactly the piece we need to shore up the D Line.

Wow, I had to log in to add…

Wow, I had to log in to add my voice to the dozens of other people golf clapping for the last section of this write-up. Absolutely terrific stuff. I strolled through the OSU blog site the other day and all they do is pat themselves on the back for their amazing recruiting acumen.

I'm proud to be an alum of Michigan and proud we can see a situation for what it really is. I sure wish we could compete in the recruiting game with the big three but now I have some context as to why we are in the position we are in.

A 6'-5" 230# pro-style…

A 6'-5" 230# pro-style quarterback with a 4.0 GPA? That sure seems like a good thing to me. Welcome to the family Jayden and thanks for choosing the University of Michigan!

Look, he is a polite kid…

Look, he is a polite kid from Minnesota. The coaches need to lock him in a ‘69 Chevelle with a live cougar and whichever one of them survives gets to suit up for the team.

An irresponsible offensive…

An irresponsible offensive lineman??? What’s next, an obsequious punter?!?! Cheer squadrons of ill repute??? I certainly hope so.

Redshirt blowtorch Playing as a freshman doesn't eliminate the possibility of redshirting does it? Shane Morris is currently on a redshirt in his Junior year. Much is being made of redshirt years being burned and I get that it is unusual outside of freshman year. Conventional wisdom is that the extra year lets a high school kid get stronger and smarter for the colllege game obviously. Which plays perfectly to Harbaugh's recruiting trail pitch. And his insistence that every day is a competition. Play well and you'll see the field. And the best players are unlikely to exhaust their eligibility anyway. But a late redshirt is still possible, right?
UM - Bradenton

How long before we announce our newest satellite campus: University of Michigan - Bradenton?

B1G Tourney You are talking about a market (Twin Cities) that sold out 4 of 8 sessions in the boys state high school hockey tournament at the Xcel last year. Per the Strib article, B1G aren't even selling upper deck tickets at the Xcel for the B1G Tournament. That is an astounding indictment of the college realignment. Also, the tournament occurs in the wrong city while U of Minnesota is on spring break. Is Dave Brandon somehow involved in planning this tournament?
Right?

I must have read the Machine Gun Worm sentence 12 times (and forwarded it to several friends) before I realized it made absolutely no sense. Perhaps he meant the opposite -- birds WOULD be afraid. But with Harbaugh it doesn't even matter. He is such an earnest (and hilarious) guy that everything he says sounds perfect.

Dressing up as Machine Gun Worm for Halloween,

Grandpa Simpson I missed the age cutoff for Skrong. By a LOT.
SKRONG ".....when he'll be big and skrong enough to play for Harbaugh." Not sure if you meant to say "strong" there, but I kind of like SKRONG. Has a certain HULK SMASH feel to it.
Logan Byrd Boy, I sure hope he commits and matures into a starter. I'd finally get an affordable custom jersey!
Mostest winningest

Winning percentage -- got it!

Considering the 49ers went 8-8 this year that stat is astounding.

Top Jimmy

".....and he is the fifth-winningest NFL coach of all time."

Perhaps the fifth winningest active NFL head coach or some other distinction? Because Jimmy is only the fifth winningest coach in 49ers history since the AFL-NFL merger.

None of which matters because HARBAUGH!!!!! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH!
