from what i read the players

from what i read the players liked them and requested it. if the kids on the team want it it's fine by me.

michigan wins 42-10. denard

michigan wins 42-10. denard rushes for 172 yards and 2 scores. goes 12 of 22 passing for 194 yards and 2 td passes. fitz has two rushing scores. devin gets very late mop up duty with less than 5 minutes in the game.

agree with everything except

agree with everything except illinois. i realize the asu win looks pretty good right now but winning a 3 point squeaker over a middling to bad mac squad at home should not get anyone moved up 6 notches.

it's not up to Al Borges when

it's not up to Al Borges when Devin Gardner gets in the game.

i think craig james might be

i think craig james might be a secret michigan fan. i remember last year the brief time that michigan was ranked he always had michigan higher in his poll than other voters.

didn't expect it to be that

didn't expect it to be that high. i think michigan will win 31-21 but will give up a lot of yards on the day. i wouldn't be surprised to see hilmman approach or go over 200 yards on the ground.  defense will hold well it needs to and the offense will be more consistent and pull away midway through the 4th quarter.

this seems like a completely

this seems like a completely reasonable thread to me. i mean in my mind one of the worst defenses in the entire nation last year should definitely be turned around into a complete powerhouse by game 3 next year. /s

wake up the defense is a work in progress, it is still not good. it has improved in terms of in game adjustments, turnovers and tackling in my eyes. the defense will struggle though game in and game out and will probably eventually cost us a game or two sometime this season. if your expectations were for something different than that, then you just weren't in tune with the reality of the situation.

notre dame finally solves the

notre dame finally solves the turnovers and limits them to one pick by rees. state keeps it close through the 3rd but nd pulls away with a couple of big plays in the 4th quarter. notre dame 38-msu 27.

38-10 michigan.

38-10 michigan.

not gonna root for either but

not gonna root for either but i'd prefer notre dame to win. i've had my fill of msu the last 3 years. i want msu to lose to osu as well. yeah it would be great if they were undefeated when we beat them but personally i'd rather see them be at 3-2 going into that game. msu is always a weak mental team,if they come into the game 3-2 and michigan notches a couple quick scores they'll fold like a cheap afghan.

what i would give for this to

what i would give for this to be real.

probably had more to do with

probably had more to do with the fact that they only ran 39 offensive plays last week. so a lot of the installed playbook wasn't even utilized due to the defensive td's that limited possessions.

the closer the game gets the

the closer the game gets the more i think michigan takes. in the 3rd consecutive year michigan wins by scoring a td in the final minute of the game. michigan 31 notre dame 28.

get up early have breakfast

get up early have breakfast with the fiancee. get dropped off at my best friends place. take his son out back and have him run routes and catch balls for a couple hours. he'll then be picked up by his mother and thats when the drinking starts. mostly slow roll it with wine through the early games and then really get it roaring when the game starts. then hopefully celebrate a victory with some friends and a bonfire into the early morning hours sunday.

one of my favorite things

one of my favorite things ever.

unreal that they don't even

unreal that they don't even mention the lack of offensive possesions in the game.

the amount of fail produced

the amount of fail produced by him over the last 3 seasons is epic in it's proportions.

i don't care one way or the

i don't care one way or the other what brian kelly does but he will lose players and possibly his team witht his kind of actions. you could see it in the players face as he's screaming at them. when someone is yelling at you like that you're not taking in what they're saying you're just thinking when is this asshole going to get out of my face. now i don't know if kelly maybe has a bad cop/good cop thing going where he just blows up and then when he's done with his tirade one of his assistants goes and talks to the kid calmly and actually tries to correct them on what they did wrong. either way it's entertaining to watch and i hope there's a few epics on the sidelines next weekend.

definitely a work in

definitely a work in progress. for the people who don't think they looked any better than last year, what exactly were you expecting? anyone who thought this defense was gonna get it all turned around in one offseason needs to get their mind right. overlall i'd say the d was slightly improved from last year but it's only one shortened game. i think the d will actually improve as the season goes on instead of regress. i do have a great amount of fear that michael floyd is gonna absolutely go off next weekend, but hopefully they can dial up the pressure and try to prevent too many big plays.

really great diary. it got a

really great diary. it got a little dusty in here when reading the section about BO. the first year that i started attending michigan games in person was 1989 i was 8 years old and bo's final season is seared into my memory. i share your obsession with Charles Woodson as well. I remember playing high school football that fall of 97. i remember wanting to be like him even though i played mlb on d and rt on o. i remember a particular saturday night game and my best friend picking off a pass and returning it 82 yards and when we met in the endzone the first words out of our mouths at almost the same time was "just like woodson". a lot of nostaligia placed in this diary and it really is a great lead in to tomorrow and the beginning of yet another fall of Michigan Football.

michigan wins 34-17. lots of

michigan wins 34-17. lots of between the tackles running and short dink and dunk passing with a few strikes downfield. denard carries the ball less than ten times. after the game everyone complains about the offense until the notre dame game when the full gameplan is revealed.

agree completely with this. i

agree completely with this. i think koger comes up with between 40-50 catches.

nice to see a defensive

nice to see a defensive preview that isn't all doom and gloom. lets hope all of these predictions hold up.

who in this thread is

who in this thread is surprised? it's more the fact that he didn't deserve the treatment that he received. even if poor treatment isn't out of the norm it doesn't mean it's an ill conceived idea to speak about.

1.shaw between the tackles.

play a video game or

play a video game or something mindless that consumes time. i felt the same way to start the week so i started playing fallout: new vegas again and it's eating up lots of time. also i know you mentioned youtube videos but you really can't go wrong with hitting up wolverinehistorians page on youtube. there's hours upon hours of entertainment there.

there's a legit chance they

there's a legit chance they cover the spread. there's a lot of unanswered questions going in so 14.5 might be a bit big. i expect michigan to cover and win the game 34-17. picking western straight up though is crazy. they've got a good qb but their offensive line play hasn't been good and they haven't had much of a rushing attack at all. their defense hasn't been anything spectacular either. obviously they're a different team then the 09 version that opened against michigan but i remember hearing a lot of talk then that michigan was going to lose and western got rolled. i expect a tight game up until the half and michigan pulls away.

pretty good effort. i love

pretty good effort. i love just the sheer volume of hype videos the michigan fan base puts out eery year. these things really help in the long offseason.

I think victory for michigan

I think victory for michigan is going to hinge completely on how well the defense has improved from last year. if they can hold notre dame to say 28 points or less i think michigan wins. denard will have another big game, i doubt it will be 500 yards big but i fully expect the coaching staff to use a ton of spread for this game. lots of denard carries and he will get his yards on the ground. as of right now i'd favor notre dame. if i were making a line i'd set them as a -4 or -5 favorite. we'll have a much better idea of what notre dame is going to be about after this weekend. i think we won't know as much about michigan though, as i expect michigan to keep the playcalling fairly vanilla. notre dame may do the same but i'd expect them to have to show a bit more as south florida is a fair amount better than western.

i can see it both ways, but

i can see it both ways, but as a fan i wish they kept it. again though as it's been stated previously as long as they win games i don't care one way or the other.

also i'm pretty sure hoke

also i'm pretty sure hoke said if the season were to start today brink would be the starter. i could be wrong but i'm pretty sure thats what was said so it's possible heininger outworked him and earned the spot as camp continued on.

thats really too bad. read a

thats really too bad. read a lot of his stuff and always enjoyed him on the lions pregame show.

my comment here isn't about

my comment here isn't about the article as i don't really have an opinion on it one way or the other it is what it is. i just can't fathom the two comments by people that said they hate the football program and are just rooting for the players. i just can't understand that mentality. no matter what you think about what happened to coach rodriguez how could you say that you hate the football program but post on here and still act like a fan. i don't know if that comes from a lack of knowledge of the history of mcihigan football and just being young or what. it's unfathomable to me.

He can learn to play low, but

He can learn to play low, but he may not have the time left in his career at michigan to ever be able to become an impact player. him not getting a redshirt was a real shame. ideally if we had more d-line depth he could just take that redshirt this season and just work technique all fall and hopefully come back in 2012 ready to make some waves. i think bust might be a bit unfair but i'd say the chances are slim and none that he ever lives up to even half of what the hopes for him were.

i've watched countless

i've watched countless michigan hype videos. a lot of good, some bad but this was by far and away the best one thats ever been created. it has high quality footage, seamless blending of the past and present and represents every part of michigan football that is great. not trying to get hyperbolic but it's more of a work of art than a hype video. really outstanding work, you should be very proud of yourself.

nice for JV and the tigers to

nice for JV and the tigers to get a win on a day when he didn't have his best stuff.

not concerned with Lee Corso

not concerned with Lee Corso or any of his predictions. I do think there's still some unresolved bitterness there from his days at indiana but i have some doubts as to whether that actually plays into his predictions. his predictions often have no rhyme or reason to them and vary week to week on college gameday.

the names were bad then, the

the names were bad then, the names are bad now and the names will always be bad for as long as they exist. everytime i watch some shitty report on the big ten from a national perspective be it espn or whatever the horrible division names seem to be mentioned at least once. they should have just gone geographical.

really surprised to hear

really surprised to hear Omameh doens't have the starting job locked down. he was pretty effective last year i hope he's the one starting this year.

love it. so close now, almost

love it. so close now, almost to that one week mark.

no mention of mike cox

no mention of mike cox anywhere, must still be buried on the depth chart. shame it doesn't look like it'll ever come together for him here.

can we just make toledo the

can we just make toledo the other non-conference game for next year and get that loss back as well.

my stomach actually started

my stomach actually started churning after reading this. i would like to get some revenge for the horror but i'll be on pins and needles more for this then next years opener against alabama. i just hope the team has had some form of success by then, otherwise it's gonna be extra brutal leading up to the game.

just ordered one for myself

just ordered one for myself and my fiancee, good looking out posting this.

man i really hope it's not

man i really hope it's not that hot. i live in a 3rd floor apartment so mid to high 80's=hotter than hell without the air on. i was hoping to have the air off and the sliding door and windows open for the first game.

well played sir, well

well played sir, well played.

thats good to hear. i hope

thats good to hear. i hope his senior season is a productive one and he stays injury free. he could do big things at michigan in the future.

i'd say this is more than a

i'd say this is more than a little overreactive. hoke and the staff are defensive minded coaches who seek perfection on the d. perfection will not be reached so don't ever expect the praise to be overly effusive for the d-line. if this d somehow morphed into the 97 d the praise wouldn't be high. it's just his coaching style and i'm sure the players aren't too upset that they're not being talked up in pressers.
