The Summit was a pretty good…

The Summit was a pretty good facility where my kids first learned to skate and did gymnastics.  My family never interacted with the Gedderts and Nassar was already gone when we were there.  As much as I appreciate what we got out of there, these can't be the institutions we maintain and I am glad we no longer go there.

1 - As a former teacher, I am not surprised you were not informed.  Expect to learn less of what is going on in school in the future.  School's do not want parental involvement in what they want to do.

2 - Do not readily assume malfeasance based on number 1 above.  I would go to the school and get the scoop.  They may be taking action anyways but do not rely upon their word that they are doing anything.

3 - Report it to the police and let the school know that you are going to anyways.

The goal should not be to destroy the life of the kid at fault in this but there are consequences and they need to be seen through.  Do not expect too much.

Rather how the school responds to this matters more as the administration and security and staff are there to create an environment that will allow students to be safe.  They need to be held accountable in their actions.  Reporting this to the police puts pressure on them to take the correct course of action.

3.375% for 30 years from 4.8%.  It was locked in last Thursday but I wished I did it Monday as a colleague for 3.175%.

It might just be me but I believe this could be a good match up.  I believe this team will have a lot to play for assuming players in significant numbers don’t leave.  Besides, I’d rather be given the opportunity to have this team prove themselves against the historically elite than sleepwalk through some mid-tier squad like USC.

I donated my own to my father last January.  The improvement to my dad's health was amazing and it only cost me 6 weeks of recovery which was hard to do with a pregnant wife, two young kids and a new job (and being poor in general).  However, I did it and my wife and I don't regret it at all.

My point is that there are many who are capable and so please consider the great gift it would be.  I am living a perfectly normal life with one kidney.  It is a sacrifice but one that saves lives!  And there are resources for those that do this and go on short-term disability.  Money became a non-factor.

It depends on the industry…

It depends on the industry.

Health insurance companies love SAS.  P&C love R.  Both love SQL to an extent and everyone else is falling in love with Python it seems.

I am overgeneralizing but as an actuary that has applied to and researched many insurance carriers and other companies, these preferences are what I had to ask for.

That being said, I learned SAS through The Infinite Actuary and they do having learning modules for R.  I wouldn't go the same route if you are not an actuary but would ask your colleagues in this new position what they used to learn SAS.

Can't say it is the first…

Can't say it is the first time.  Coached at Loy Norrix in Kzoo in the mid 2000s and I remember the day before a game multiple players, waiting around for some reason, challenging each other to do all kinds of flips.  Each sequence they performed got harder each time, in cleats and some gear the waist down.  It was incredible how easy they made it look.

Leave him to be a cryptid and the stuff of legend....let the MurderWolv be free and do as he (she, it?) wishes and not be captive to corporate interest as is the norm to all mascots

I don't know, I like not having a mascot at all while relying on any rational cryptozoologist explain the existence of the murderwolf.

As a former resident of the EL area (or survivor if you may) and former Uber driver, I can tell you for certainty the police handle many of the parties the same way.  Sorry but not much to see here.

Funny, I had a similar experience from fans at ND in '98 (crazy to think it was the first start for the greatest QB in history in Tom Brady).  I hate the program and many that run it but I have a good deal of respect for their fans and alumni.

My dad and I went to that game on a charter bus put together through his work.  When exiting the bus, we were met by a few jeers from some drunks.  Within 30 seconds a group of students went to us, told us that those jeering us don't represent the University, thanked us for coming and hoped that our experience there will be great regardless of the outcome.  Many more were just as sincere that day.

The bay here was frozen until early May and is now warming up to a tolerable temp.  This is our first year living up here and the locals say that’s not normal.  They also say our dry hot summer up here is not the norm as well.  At least the dry temp has kept the skeeters away!

Petoskey, MI ~ 9 months

pros:

- absolutely beautiful anytime of the year

- decent beer and wine scene that is very accessible

- great number and variety of outdoor activities for you and the kids

- vacation traffic sucks but it’s nothing like going through 696 out of Detroit after 5 pm.  Pretty much anything you need is close by and won’t take that long if you know how to get around

cons:

- will get dumped on by snow tornadoes that hit no where else

- if weather sucks, no mall or other place to take the kids

- very remote, TC is a 1.5 hour drive

- housing market is limited
