12/01/2017 - 10:20am Thanks, Seth

Also wanted to chime in to say that this was an excellent post. It hurts to watch, but does make me feel better about the future knowing the coaches and rest of the offense were good enough to win this game.

09/11/2017 - 10:46am You're being intentionally obtuse

"Why would her experience on this site be any different because her sex organs are different?"

It's not her "sex organs," it's her experience in society as a woman that gives her different insight compared to a man.

To deny that is to deny that anyone's experience and ability to be sensitive to different topics can change because of one's gender, skin color, religion, sexual orientation, etc.

10/27/2016 - 6:16pm Bredeson should have an

Bredeson should have an upside down star for being a top recruit, right?

09/16/2016 - 5:13pm Steve- Do you think Harbaugh

Steve- Do you think Harbaugh is burning redshirts with any thought to the fact that guys further down the depth chart as upperclassmen can then transfer without losing a year of eligibility?

08/30/2016 - 11:35am I've also noticed that he

I've also noticed that he uses "honestly" a lot when talking to the press, but based on this interview I think he only does it when he's in coach speak mode.

If you ask him a good, pointed question he's allowed to answer freely, like most of those in this interview, then he gives a direct answer without all of the extra honestlies.

Can't knock him too much for it; he's got to say something without always saying anything, plus one of the VPs at my company can't be on a simple client call without saying "actually" in every other sentence.

08/29/2016 - 4:13pm Word Count

I'm always amazed at this annual content explosion.

Can we get a running word count at the top of each post that sits next to The Story, QB, etc.?

01/29/2015 - 10:41am Hey Mods - The Title has AvOcado Misspelled

I don't want to be that guy, but I also don't want this glorious blog to have a big fat typo at the top of it.

03/06/2014 - 11:02am "This is porn"

Actual text I sent my friend during this game.

01/30/2014 - 12:01pm Just make "The RPI Effect Only" teams a list

As Michael Scott would say, "That's a WIn-WIn-Win."

08/30/2013 - 9:57am Incredible

Don't ever stop making these.

04/24/2013 - 6:45pm This is ridiculous

"Chasing the standard?"

Harry played seeker, not chaser. I mean, if he's a chaser, where's the quaffle?

02/02/2013 - 3:53pm Video won't play on an iPad

Says the maker of the vid is controlling that. Any chance you change it?

07/09/2012 - 5:15pm Great post, but don't forget about Denard

You said that Jim Harbaugh was the most recent M QB to be an All American, but Denard was an All American by the Football Writers Association of America at the end of 2010. You could say that he doesn't count because they only listed him as a "back," but he was an M QB All American.

02/29/2012 - 3:20pm 7 Nation Army

Did anyone else here the crowd chanting it early in the match?

Looks like the Big House isn't alone.

02/17/2012 - 11:51am I really like that Brady Hoke

I really like that Brady Hoke started calling OSU "Ohio" - I initially saw it as an interesting quirk and a way to stir up the rivalty. Although I was pretty indifferent about everyone using Ohio instead of Ohio State, I think it's starting to get out of hand.

I know that this article is about M, OSU, and PSU, but was I the only one who reread the first sentence after the block quote because it said Ohio instead of Ohio State? This wouldn't be an issue except for the fact that there really is a school called Ohio, especially when we're talking about a sport where they might actually have a solid program. (Turns out they don't.)

I don't have enough points to start a thread anymore, but I think "Ohio" thing is starting to jump the shark when we use it every time we refer to OSU - particularly in a news article and not an opinion piece. It's starting to remind me of the way every RCMB poster will use scUM instead of just UM.

Am I alone on this? And this isn't meant as a knock on the OP, but it was a bit confusing.

01/17/2012 - 11:19am Another cool story (bro)

My friends and I were at Harry Buffalo before the game and ran into John Merrill's mom. Didn't want to make it weird and ask why he was suspended, but she was very cool..and actually pretty good looking. Seemed like she was enjoying herself and just volunteered the fact that she was his mom when she saw all of us in Michigan gear.

Not worthy of a thread, but wanted to throw it out there.

12/07/2011 - 12:25pm Hey Ace - my take

This is quite obviously amazing and the effort is certainly appreciated, so the following questions are more of a Devil's Advocate-like exercise.

I don't know what your schedule or the schedules of other MGoReaders is like, but I wonder if it's worth it to do a full, play by play, UFR considering how many basketball games there are and the difference between basketball and football games' style of play.

I'm curious as to what your process is in while making this. Do you have to replay each possession? How many times? Does it get really tedious? (Obvious caveats apply for this being the first time.)

Would we get 90% of the information and jist with you doing much less work if you were to break the game up into 8 5-minute segments and give your impressions? There could still be links to certain plays and you could still grade the players (and add some info that others have mentioned), but I imagine it's pretty time consuming to explain every single play in detail.

At the very least, this type of UFR could be stop-gap until you do more research on Beilein's offense since without more context you might not be able to explain what's really happening (and perhaps what's supposed to happen, making the player grades more valuable).

Thoughts from Ace and others?

11/16/2011 - 1:10pm One nit to be picked

In some parts of the diary you have the explanation before the picture, in others you have the explanation after the picture.

It's admittedly a nitpick, but is it possible to stay with one? or maybe use a colon or something? Otherwise, it's excellent. Thanks for the insights.

10/27/2011 - 12:25pm Don't give until it hurts, give until it feels good

That's the right amount.

10/25/2011 - 1:46pm Hey Ace

I found a great van pic for your next Creeper Van Originals:

10/12/2011 - 10:53am Hey Mathlete

I'm loving the Mid-Week Metrics posts, but one thought regarding the best and worst plays:

Would it be possible to note the play number of each instead of (or in addition to) just ranking them 1 2 3?

I'm pretty sure I can find them in the chart, but it's still tought to tell since we don't know what play number they were. It would also be interesting to how the Win Percentage responds to the team's play calling after important plays.

09/23/2011 - 1:30pm Wrigley Field

used to hold the record for most football games hosted by a stadium. It took until 2003 for the record to be broken.

Just sayin

09/19/2011 - 3:24pm Soundtrack

I could definitely picture someone driving a creeper van with the windows down and that music playing.

He's probably got a mustache too.

09/12/2011 - 5:06pm I understand what you're saying

It might not be in the best taste, but I'm not sure the analogy totally works since one instance is a famine and one is a genocide (passive vs. active). Since it's on a ND board, it could be one of those "we can say it bc it's us" things.

I think we can all agree that comparing Denard to "an occupying imperial power," at least on the football field, is apt sentiment.

09/12/2011 - 4:15pm This has to be offered in the MGoStore

Courtesy Her Loyal Sons:

Denard Robinson – Destroying More Irish Lives than the Potato Famine

09/12/2011 - 12:29am I walked past him after the game

He was by the entrance to the tunnel as the players were coming out. I didn't want to bother him, but I overheard him say that he's gained some weight (said it with a smile on his face). Hopefully that means he's doing well.

Also, Marvin Robinson's mom wears a #3 jersey with the name "Marvin's Mom." I thought that was awesome.

09/01/2011 - 4:38pm What's a c**nt?

You must be on a whole new level of swearing

(NSFW audio)

09/01/2011 - 11:40am I concur

Though I do like having a piece of fluff to get things started if it's really interesting. The Darboh story is a good example.

Some of the other fluff seems like it could be an Etc. type thing, or a "Quickly," to borrow from Dr. Saturday.

08/31/2011 - 12:26pm To be fair

I prefer Ace's work, since the smile reminds me more of Brick's innocence:

01/17/2011 - 2:32pm This is what I was expecting

when I saw transmogrifier.

Someone turn it on its side while Brian isn't looking. Think of all the content we would have with 2 Brians!

11/23/2010 - 12:56pm "based on his high school performance"

"based on his high school performance"

Is there any other performance on which we should be basing our opinions?

10/05/2010 - 12:50pm I wouldn't do it

It's going to be a terrible, terrible environment. The 3 and 5 year old aren't going to be able to see anything because everyone is standing. Everyone is going to be completely hammered and falling all over the place.

I will gladly buy one of those tickets. Seriously, sell it to me.

10/01/2010 - 1:49pm Valuable Info

I think you should (assuming you have the time) post updates in Diary form every week. I know that many of us would find it interesting. It would also give us a place to send people who think that the standard redzone efficiency data makes sense. Hopefully converting them to the side of reason.

Thanks, and keep up the good work!

09/24/2010 - 5:43pm Of course you would know that...

You divers are a tight knit bunch.

09/16/2010 - 1:48pm These are awesome

Just wanted to chime in (along with everyone else) and let you know that these wallpapers are both clever and extremely well done. A Brit might classify them as "cheeky." Please keep up the good work.

09/15/2010 - 4:55pm Hold on Mouton

I legitimately saw that from section 23 row 39 seat 7. These refs were abysmal. I actually had a ND fan text me a pic he took of his tv of a "hold" during Denard's long TD run. I promptly sent him Dr. Saturday's post of ND's DeSean Jackson impression.

04/14/2010 - 12:19pm Very Weird Indeed

I didn't know he got any business outside of East Lansing.

04/13/2010 - 12:10pm John Starks played for the Bulls

Every time he stepped on the court I had to hold back vomit.

04/09/2010 - 11:50am These puppies are painfully adorable

Motion for these puppies to replace kittens as the mgoblog feel good animal of choice is now on the table.

Do I have a second?

She just had Shelden Williams' baby. How did that guy get with her?

04/07/2010 - 1:05am Candace Parker is the best female player on the planet

When her brother, Anthony, a current NBA guard, was asked if she could play in the NBA he said unequivocally no. He wasn't asked if she would be an allstar, just if she could play. I was expecting a nonanswer, but he said it wouldn't be close and that speaks volumes.

I give them all the credit in the world, but they just can't play with the men.

Same with volleyball for that matter. People make fun of it for being a girls sport, but the mens game is a whole other animal. For all of you that grew up without mens volleyball at your hs, watch the NCAA championships coming up: 6'10" players with 40" verticals.

03/25/2010 - 12:41pm FINALLY

I was so tired of all the "We should move Nichol to receiver, he has way too much athleticism and speed to be on the bench" threads.
