Since this is a posbang and I can't get negged for asking dumb questions...Is there a way to view your own recent comments without finding one inside a thread and clicking on your username? I feel like you use to be able to by clicking your username in the top corner of the homepage, but now I get the update password and add profile picture page when I do that.

Also, does MGoBlog have an alert when someone replies directly to your comment? It's tough to keep up a conversation when you have to go searching for your comments to see if anyone responded.

I'm glad Don Brown is staying. But, the pessimist in me looks at the OSU game next year and sees Ryan Day, whose offense just hung 62 on us, along with 2 former members of Don Brown's staff on the opposing sideline and I wonder how in the world our defense could possibly have a chance in that game. If there's any game where DB is going to have to break away from his stubbornness and gameplan a little differently it's that one.

01/09/2019 - 12:01pm I know that it's a sports…

I know that it's a sports cliche, but can we stop with the "they wanted it more" line? You don't think Shea Patterson wanted to win that game and go to the CFP? You don't think Jim Harbaugh, a borderline crazy competitor, wanted to win that game? You dont think Chase Winovich wanted to win that game? C'mon. Yes, as fans we want it. We want it bad. It hurts when we dont get it. It hurts bad. But I promise you that those guys, who worked for months and years to get the chance to play and coach in that spot wanted it more than anyone on this blog. Sometimes wanting it doesn't overcome a talent disparity. Sometimes you can want it and still be outschemed. OSU was better than us that day, but not because they wanted it more.

I follow in a very bandwagon way. I find some joy in seeing that we landed a top hockey recruit and will watch the important end of season games. When they win I am happy, when they lose I move on with my life....I wish I could adopt this sort of fandom for football.

Yea, 2020 kids decommitting just makes sense. If I had to guess, Jake Wray still ends up at OSU. But if the 2019 kids start decommitting that will be a big deal.

11/29/2018 - 10:13am Agreed on 8 teams, but just…

Agreed on 8 teams, but just make the conference championship games matter.

Eventually, I would like to see four super conferences with 2 divisions each. Basically you get an 8 team playoff. Each division winner plays for a conference championship and then 4 conference champions finish out the playoffs. Right now there are 65 Power 5 teams if you count Notre Dame. Each conference has two eight team divisions that play a 7 game round robin (1 extra team for a 9 team division). You still get some crossover into the other division and you get OOC games.

Non Power 5 teams wont like it, but hey, they aren't considered for the playoff right now anyway-just ask UCF.

Obviously, the logistics of getting to this point would be an absolute nightmare, but OP asked what I, a totally unqualified observer, would change.

11/26/2018 - 1:43pm We got outschemed on defense…

We got outschemed on defense all day, which is shocking considering that Don Brown is our defensive coordinator. We lost every play pre-snap. They were getting the matchups they wanted with Gil and Watson 1-on-1 with much faster receivers. Devin Bush was totally neutralized-OSU was motioning to get him covering someone on the boundary, outside of the CBs, and then running plays to the middle/opposite side of the field. Haskins rarely had to even look to his second receiver, and even when he did he had all day to throw because our DTs were getting pushed back. When Gary and Chase got pressure Haskins could just step right up the middle to where the DTs should have been if they were winning their battles. Ryan Day deserves a ton of credit, they won the chess match.

I liked at 16:00, when they're talking about holding things back for The Game

"How brilliant is Schiano for not unveiling the defense before The Game?...The big twist will be when Ohio State comes out against Michigan on Saturday and has a defense.

At this point the big Michigan wrinkle may be tackling, and discipline, being in the right place, filling the right gaps...ya know crazy stuff."

11/14/2018 - 1:08pm Maybe the committee over…

Maybe the committee over-ranking Kentucky, LSU, and MSSU is not just a ploy to prop up the SEC, but instead the long-con to officially put them on notice and blast them for their cupcake late season scheduling. Drop them all this week and send a message to the conference that they need to schedule real games late in the season.

This is almost assuredly not the case, but one can dream right?

11/12/2018 - 2:11pm Yep. Alabama does it every…

Yep. Alabama does it every year for the week before Auburn. Last 5 years, including 2018, that game has been Citadel, Mercer, Chattanooga, Charleston Southern, and Western Carolina. The last time they played a major conference opponent the week prior to Auburn was 2008.

11/12/2018 - 2:02pm The Bush personal foul…

The Bush personal foul looked nearly identical to Khaleke Hudson's targeting penalty (His 2nd of the year, against Nebraska, I believe). I was worried he was about to get tossed.

11/12/2018 - 11:09am Mike Morris and Tyrece Woods…

Mike Morris and Tyrece Woods too...Harrison, Hinton, Karlaftis, Morris, Newburg, Ojabo, Smith, Woods. That's a whole lot of D-line talent to take in one class.

Art Sitkowski, he of the 2/16 for 8 yards with 4 INTs box score against Maryland. Our defense will be having some fun when he's on the field.

11/05/2018 - 12:49pm We were called for offsides…

We were called for offsides. The refs made a mess of that for sure though. The PSU returner did not signal for a fair catch, he was pointing to his blockers. But, if the refs did think that he signaled for a fair catch then he should have been penalized for running with the ball after a fair catch signal.

I know the O-line has looked great, but man the Clemson D-line is scary. I think you're right though, if it's a choice between Bama or Clemson, give me Clemson.

I was born in 1990. I barely remember 1997. My uncle has told me that he feels bad for me that I've never really gotten to witness glorious Michigan football. This must be what it feels like. This team is absolutely the real deal. After watching OSU struggle against Nebraska and lose to Purdue...oh man this is gonna be a season for the ages. Let's go.

11/01/2018 - 12:51pm Scenarios Ranked by…

Scenarios Ranked by Desirability:

1. CHAOS...2+ losses for Bama

2. Undefeated Bama means 2+ losses for everyone else in the SEC

3. LSU defeats Bama. LSU/UGA/UK SEC Champion in CFP with 1-loss, Bama has 1-loss and no signature win.

4. Bama defeats LSU, loses to UGA in SEC Championship Game. 1-loss SEC Champ UGA is in, and committee has to decide whether 1-quality loss Bama with signature win over LSU is in or out.

11/01/2018 - 12:33pm I think you are correct that…

I think you are correct that we should root for LSU, but not for the reasons you stated. You're arguing that we should root for LSU in order to increase the likelihood, but not to 100%, of Bama getting eliminated, instead of rooting for Bama, which would guarantee that LSU is eliminated. Your third premise is exactly why we might want Bama to win on Saturday, because there is only a possibility that 1-loss Bama gets left out, but there is also a possibility that 1-loss Bama remains ahead of us. Your first premise is simply not true. As unfair as it would be, don't put it past this committee to put 1-loss Bama in over 1-loss Michigan. Here's what I came up with.

1. There will be at least 1 SEC team in the CFP

2. There are 4 SEC teams that are still alive for the playoff. Bama, LSU, UGA, and UK.

3. Michigan benefits from having no more than 1 SEC team in the CFP

4. 1 of UGA/UK will be eliminated from CFP contention this week.

5. If Bama beats LSU, LSU is eliminated from CFP contention.

6. If LSU beats Bama, both LSU and Bama will still be in CFP contention, along with the winner of UGA/UK

7. The still alive winner of Bama/LSU will play the still alive winner of UGA/UK in the SEC Championship Game. Any team with 1-loss after this game will still be in contention for the CFP. However, this includes a 1-loss Bama who doesn't play in the SEC Championship game.

8. So, if Bama is the winner of the SEC Championship game then they will be the only SEC team in the CFP.

9. Also, if Bama is not the winner of the SEC Championship game then the winner of the SEC Championship game will be in the CFP and the CFP committee will still consider Bama for the CFP.

Obviously, this leaves out the possibility of CHAOS, i.e. any of these teams losing games not mentioned above to teams that they are expected to beat. In which case, you'd have to look at the schedules to see which of these teams is most likely to drop a game. MSSU vs. Bama, LSU vs TAMU are the two most likely candidates. If you're confident one is more likely to happen than the other then that might change your rooting interest, i.e. if you like MSSU over Bama then you should root for Bama to lose to LSU this weekend.

I think what it really comes down to is, which Bama is more likely to be left out? A 1-loss Bama whose loss is to LSU and doesn't play in the SEC championship or an eventual 1-loss Bama that loses to also 1-loss UGA in the SEC Championship Game. I think the former is more likely to be left out so I will be rooting for LSU this weekend.

However, if you have faith that Bama would not lose in the SEC Championship game then I believe you are safe to root for them this weekend. I tend to think that UGA in revenge-tour mode in the SEC Championship would beat Bama, leaving us with what I think is worst case scenario-a 1-loss SEC Champ and Top 3 in the nation UGA and a 1-loss Bama with a signature win over LSU and 1 quality loss.

After all this, I don't think we can conclusively root for either Bama or LSU this weekend. Just watch a good football game and have fun. GO BLUE!

10/30/2018 - 11:31pm We want an undefeated Bama…

We want an undefeated Bama for sure. Dont want the committee to have to decide between 1-loss Bama and 1-loss Michigan if someone other than Bama wins the SEC Championship. I think we would deserve to get in in that scenario (assuming win out) but I dont want that in the committee's hands.

Worst call in any sporting event I've ever seen...Lakers vs Kings Western Conference Finals level BS. Rewatched the replay about 15 times and saw no evidence of holding on Higdon (obviously), Gentry, Eubanks, DPJ, or any of the 5 lineman. Unless the WR wayyyy away from the play held and they called the wrong number that penalty is atrocious. Inexplicable.

09/19/2018 - 1:17am Long overdue!

Long overdue!

09/01/2018 - 12:00pm The air is tinged with the…

The air is tinged with the familiar sweet September dew that hangs on freshly chopped grass. Mornings are cooler now than they’ve been, but, the afternoon sunshine will surely bring the heat. The dog days have come and they have gone, with their sweltering months of nothing but baseball highlights and hot dog eating contests. This summer was one of the special every other propped up by a World Cup or an Olympics to make it somewhat more bearable. The hole in our hearts remained. It is finally time now. Summer has given way to the next season, Michigan football.

0-0. When we, the fans, see these numbers side by side the former of the zeroes is ignored. Our beloveds are not winless today, no, they are undefeated. And for today, at least, we can dream of championships and trophies. We can dream of elation and celebration. This offensive line has to be better because they can’t possibly be worse. We know that Coach Jim Harbaugh, upon his return, was the savior and now QB #2 is the apostle we’ve been waiting for to deliver his message. This magnificent Don Brown defense will no longer be wasted by futile counter attacks. For today, we are champions as likely as the Crimson Tide and the Clemson Tigers. Through him all things are possible, so to Hell with Notre Dame!

And tomorrow, well tomorrow may be different. The pain of a Saturday gone awry lasts the week over. We attach our livelihoods to outcomes not remotely in our control. A perfect relationship, a good job, kids, pets, etc., the happiness that they all bring can be chopped down so swiftly in Saturday defeat. Why do we allow this? I am mere mortal and so I can not say. I do know that it is nonsensical, that it is foolish, that we have not decided to walk this path based on logic and fact. That is why we are called fanatics.

Today, we find out if our faith is confirmed. It will be laid bare whether we have fastened our destinies to the correct institution. And even shall things not go as planned, I predict that we will be blind in our fervor and will claim to have been deceived and will wait longer still for revelation to come in the form of Michigan victory after Michigan victory. For we know, in our hearts, that there is no greater calling than that of the Maize and Blue.

I, like Mineral King, whether he is Shea or another false prophet, am of the belief that victory will be in our grasp before the day is done. Michigan 31-13 Notre Dame.

04/20/2018 - 3:02pm MAAR

What I loved about MAAR is that he never needed to be the alpha until he had to. He'd let everyone try to get theirs first, but if Walton and Moe were both struggling or if Charles and Moe were both cold then MAAR knew it was his time and he'd just will buckets every time down the floor.
