He didn't say that he can't make adjustments from the sideline. I read it as him saying that with his team's present level of experience, he can't make major, wholesale changes from the sidelines. And he might have limited that statement to particularly noisy away games.
I can't tell how his coverage was, but it sure looked to me that that man can lay out a mean tackle. Wrapped 'em up and drug 'em down. SDSU started throwing at him immediately, and there was no sign of 2010.
On the ESPN 3 live stream, one of the announcers attributed M's slow offense performance early in the game to the fact that Michigan State was coming off a bye week. Takes them a while to get it back together, etc.
Of course the team is looking better. Number SEVEN Wisconsin. And we had a shot. And the Defense got turnovers that led to scores. Based on M's earlier games, we should have been demoralized and destroyed. I was as happy with the loss as I could have been. My only worry about the game is the injuries.
Did you see the Defense last week? No offensive touchdowns allowed?
Agreed. This wasn't the sort of disaster the above posters are making it out to be. Our defense is not good, but had some decent moments. That and M brought it back to within a touchdown. I really thought we were going to pull it off.
I think he looked annoyed at the other interviewers or with the fact that he was having a hard time getting his questions in there. More like a "jebus, would you shut up" face.
Or maybe just annoyed that he looks like such a nerd next to Forcier.
Sure, but it still skews things a bit in the negative direction. You want to isolate the stats, but then you have to take out the success to fit the model. So maybe just say there's not enough data to make a meaningful comparison along the lines that you want and compare individual seasons.
If we take out all of RR's successful seasons, he'd probably be a pretty bad coach.
More receivers and more receivers with experience? It doesn't appear to me that we lost much talent from last year, well have some additional guys, and Odoms, Hemmingway, and Roundtree all have and additional year under their belts. Doesn't the receiving corps have to be better this year? Or am I forgetting something?
That video was great. Except for the fumble, the team is looking pretty darned impressive.
And the kids interviewed are awesome. What classy smart dudes. I think things are looking up for sure.
Awesome video.
But honestly, if someone but something like this together from M's first 4 games last season, it would be better. Use the same music and leave out half the games and voila!
How much did it sound like Devin Garnder was kidnapped? Him: I was visiting, you know, and my coach called and said 'I hope you have everything you need, because you're not coming back, EVER!'
You could also say that out of his last 1 years, he had a 10 game season. Or out of his last three years, he only had one 10+ game season. Or out of his last four years, he only had one 10+ game season.
My point: 8 years seems a bit arbitrary. It looks like you're making an argument by bending the stats.
How much do our low numbers have to do with the stats posted in the Decimated Defense article? If no one's left from 5 years ago, and like 5% from 4 years ago, there aren't a whole lot of players to leave.
That's pretty much the only thing I remember about Juice Williams: he tore us up. In my mind, he's a force to be reckoned with. Who knows what's up with Illinois.
I was reading a piece from the Ann Arbor News recently and I was struck by the thought, "Wow, this author is an idiot." And then I thought about all of the awesome and in-depth coverage by blogs like MGoBlog. This site just has to be advancing the general state of sports journalism and probably journalism in general.
On the above chart, wow. Brian's original Hennechart was a remarkable advancement, but this further chartified incarnation is amazing. I don't know where this skill set comes from, but it is flabbergastingly impressive.
You guys rock. I can't wait until you are the mainstream and we can go to a site like the Ann Arbor News and get real news and analysis.
"Well, when Forcier came over to the sidelines, he said 'Coach, I really could go for an In-and-Out burger right now. I know there's always Blimpy burger when we get back to Ann Arbor, but I really would like some Animal-Style fries. Also, what did you think about Obama getting the Nobel Peace Prize? That really is mud in ASU's eye. And, oh yeah, isn't it cool that we're not going 3-9 this year? Yeah, I'm pretty pyched about that. What? I don't know what you want me to do?'"
I sent these stats to a friend. (I especially liked the part about Ty.) He replied:
"Considering how early ND, MSU and UM play each other, none of the three of them could have more without totally dominating. Zero sum game for those three, whereas the PSU and OSU games come later."

Checked back to today because I knew someone would have figured it out by now.
Heartbreaking. Going to put my wallet away.
Q: You had tremendous success on third down, what do you attribute that to?
A: Once it's third down, you have to get a first down, so....
thanks!

Not happy they lost. Happy they did as well as they did against a VERY good Wisconsin team.

I would think experience with routes and whatnot would be helpful. Knowing where people will be, etc.
"What's your favorite place to eat on campus?"
You've got a guy giving you intelligent insight into Michigan football and you blow 15 seconds of an interview with this question?
What's you favorite color?

Yeah, that's odd.
Wish they had recorded that conversation like they do for the sidelines footage now. Bet he was saying some pretty worldclass stuff.

Anyone have the relevant email addresses to send word of our discontent? I saw the feed back link posted earlier, but it didn't feel that productive.
The earlier link was:
Tell the AD how you feel:

Anyone have anything better?
edit: I did use that link and also put my name on the petition.
Was an OT post about it before, but Mr. Di Caprio is wearing his Michigan hat again:

So that guy apparently does all the wings by hand? How awesome is that.
"Every time Brandon Graham is on the field, I notice him. Best description I can give at this point"
Still feel pretty lousy for him. All that negative press never had to happen.
negging an optimist.
edit:
I got the dates wrong. It vacates from Dec 2004 -->.
If USC didn't win it, does that mean M did?
But honestly,
