I think when you offer a recruit and make him a prospect you are making a full 4-5yr commitment in the students future. Anything less is exactly what is wrong with college football.
When kids a forced out of a program by an incoming coach ala Kiffin its a slap in the face to the student athlete, his high school and his family.
8-9 wins no I don't think so.
First year in robinson's defensive system and little depth in the secondary. I see the opponent's defense holding back the young offense enough to keep the defense on the field too long which will tire at the end of games.
I wouldn't expect any team's coaches no matter where they are on the staff to be soft, or even reasonable, towards a competitor no matter the team.
Especially after the season probable to be the high point of Dantonio's career there.
There is definite reason to question the recruiting system that RR is using, it isn't anything like previous seasons, minus last year. Just looking at the alternatives these early commits have it is not surprising they committed.
Best case the commits are the perfect fit to fill out the new system and are able to help the team regularly compete for the big ten title maybe in 2010.
Worst case, we get all these commits and they don't improve the team enough and after 2010 are looking for a new coach. Which leads to another new system without the right players.
That worst case has more far reaching consequences and there is definite reason to 2nd guess what is currently going on because its not what has been common for traditional Michigan football.
Freshman Mistakes:
1. throwing into coverage
2. trying to do too much on his own
3. Too jumpy from a pass rush (ND will test him early)
4. Letting a previous mistake influence the next play
