Trey, if I can picture correctly did have some arm and body "brushing" as the ball was being blocked. Completely horrid and great defensive positioning. But tonight...there wasn't anything but defenders fingertips on the ball from behind.

A 9 seed made the final 4 last year (could've been in the title game if not for a bounce here and there) and there's little argument by the end of their run that they weren't a very, very good team.
I've always been against it. And still probably am. But I will say: in 2024 and probably for 4+ years now, there is a lot more parity in the sport than there was in 1998. The bubble these days has some quality teams fighting for a spot who get left out. Many mid-majors are now on an equal if not better footing than Power-5 conference programs. The difference between some 8-9 seeds and say, the "last 8 out" is probably pretty minimal. Allowing a few more teams in probably wouldn't water down the field much.
But, this is not a notion the NCAA even cares about.
Brad Underwood said this during his immediate post-game interview yesterday with the BTN reporter (they beat Iowa by 10 or so at home). He said they didn't even watch film, etc.. It was a weird flex. Then again he's and odd duck.
Maybe I'm too ignorant to Jemele's outlooks. I don't enjoy her but she does appear on the Lebatard platform so I tolerate her 8 minutes every 3 weeks. I'm curious the reasoning regarding your neighbors/neighborhood. I can obviously Google to dig deeper, as well.

I know Sparty isn't great and there has been plenty of the usual poor play(s) but this effort and competence isn't half-bad. If this was on full-display all season we aren't doom and gloom. Unfortunately the 2nd half will likely bring what we're all used to.
