I second the deep freezer. We initially bought it to keep a massive supply of breast milk when our daughter started daycare, but now I use it to make sure we have a full range of grillable options at at any time.

I take it you're joking, but you really could make a case for Obama in the top whatever, maybe 20, 50?

But why would anyone need more than 2 pairs of dress shoes for work? One black, one brown and zero more than that.

06/14/2018 - 7:15pm I've had some success with…

I've had some success with keto and think the main method by which it helps weight come off is eating a calorie deficit. Cutting carbs and upping the fat just makes it easier to run that deficit without being crazed with hunger. I can sometimes go 16 to 18 hours without eating and not even notice it.

You really don't "need" more than a tiny amount of carbs in your diet, as millions of people and various societies throughout history have shown. The main downfall is that carbs are everywhere and they're delicious. It's a challenge to make such a big shift in lifestyle given the cultural role of carbs (I'm serious). That said, it works better than other diets for a lot of people.

Agreed. Red made a fine living for himself -- I think around $200K per year in the end -- but it wasn't like he was pulling in millions. If he wants to sell it, that's his choice.

Congrats! We had a somewhat surprise #2 just after our first turned 2 years old. It's a ride but a great one.

Bud Light Platinum. Yes, I hate me, too. But I've lost a bunch of pounds on the low-carb diet these past few weeks, so drink piss I must.

05/17/2018 - 5:47am I think the show kind of lost

I think the show kind of lost its shine the past couple seasons, but I've been home with a new kid this week and got to watch all of this season to date. I think the show is back to its old self.

I don't want too give much away, but let's just say we are reaching the crescendo you knew this would eventually, and all the plot points are intersecting in a great way: twilight of the USSR with rival reformer and hardliner factions duking it out; pressure to choose between family and loyalty to country (but a country that's nothing like what the main characters remember); spies living next to an FBI counterintelligence officer eventually generate suspicions; the decades of murdering people and increasingly risky operations catching up with them, now with a second generation of spy in the mix.

05/10/2018 - 6:26pm Yeah the proximity to

Yeah the proximity to Kentucky paired with the relatively large share of the population that came from the heart of Appalachia one or two generations back makes it a bit different. Of course Michigan and Detroit in particular have a decent amount of Appalachian refugees, too.

Agreed. In general, I think it's good to support local news outlets. Now that Snyder is gone (though he wasn't the entire problem),I feel much more comfortable doing so.

Seriously. It's gotten a little tiresome. If people don't want to click on a Free Press link, that's their business, but Baumgardner is pretty evenhanded and just naming the author is enough.

05/04/2018 - 7:10pm May not be representative

Fair enough, but a guy that works for me did UC econ undergrad and then Michigan law. He's probably one of the smartest AND most charismatic people I know. And he says he had a great time in college, partying, making connections and doing all the other stupid stuff we all did in college.

I know literally nobody else who went to U of Chicago but it might be more diverse than your company's experience implies.

05/04/2018 - 5:28am If it's not fun and doesn't

If it's not fun and doesn't make you happy, I say let it go. Sort of like being football fan. When watching the team you've loved starts to frustrate you more than it brings you pleasure, just stop (see: me, 2014). If it was meant to be, you and Star Wars will intersersect again one day and it will be the best make up sex you ever had.

Yeah, figured it wasn't an especially novel approach. I haven't invested the time, but I always thought it would be fun to see if I could identify the source brand/manufacturer for some of the Kirkland things we buy. Yeah, I'm weird.

DocuSign? Have used it plenty and love it. Congrats, and hope you just made a bunch of money today!

04/27/2018 - 7:14pm I read about that, terrible

I read about that, terrible approach. At the same time, Walmart also announced a paid family leave policy for full time workers (10 weeks for maternity I believe). Though it's not available for PT workers, given their huge number of employees, I think this is overall a welcome change and it may well have a ripple effect in the industry.

I believe "Kirkland" is just when Costco contracts with an existing producer to make virtually the same product they already sell to other outlets and slap the Costco label on it. I agree it tends to be good.
