|05/24/2018 - 10:30am||Yard work this week and weekend||
3 1/2 yards of top soil and a shovel. That is my plan the next couple of days. Then it’s grass seed and straw. Then probably 4 yards of mulch for the flower beds. Wahoo!
|05/21/2018 - 3:17pm||If I base it on when I come across it surfing I stop and watch||
Then it’s: (no particular order)
If it’s my favorite 3 best, then Shawshank and Goodwill Hunting are there and I have to pick a third
|04/29/2018 - 11:43pm||Paint the end zones either blue or maize||
And paint Michigan in the opposite color. No more green end zones
|04/27/2018 - 10:56am||could he slim down and play||
LB in the NFL like Woodley did. Not sure of Hurst's 40 time or his comparison size-wise to Woodley. Woodley played at 6-2 and 260+. Hurst is 6-1 and 290
|04/27/2018 - 8:04am||HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN!||
This is a huge shot in the arm for this program. WAHOO!
No someone in the NFL be smart and draft Mo Hurst quickly
|04/25/2018 - 3:46pm||I looked for this house on Zillow and didn't find it||
Where is this waterfront house on Lake Michigan for $450K? I want to see it. Glen Lake is the most beautiful body of water in the world to me. I would take it over the carribean or Hawaii or anywhere else I have been. The economic downturn in 2008-09 didn't affect that area. Peoples are ridiculous and getting worse. Too much money from Chicago Drs and people like Dick DeVos buying up prime realestate and building compounds, not just vacation homes.
|04/25/2018 - 10:48am||Sleeping Bear National Larkshore||
Because of the location, it is my favorite. The Glen Arbor area is my ultimate retirement destination, but finances don't match up well with that area.
|04/04/2018 - 10:27am||The simple fact is||
they were the better team and made shots from, everywhere. We had no answer for #10. Beilein said as much.
|04/02/2018 - 10:54am||Defense wins championships||
. . . but you need some offense too. If we play our typical brand of defense without major foul trouble and we shoot 30% or better from 3 and we win 73-67. Nova may struggle if they are in a nail biter. We live for those.
|03/18/2018 - 12:46am||Fuck yeah!||
Only better play I can remember is Manningham in the back of the end zone to beat Penn a state.
|03/18/2018 - 12:12am||Weak offense||
Don’t seem to have a plan
|03/16/2018 - 10:29am||As said earlier, this whole scandal is not getting headlines any||
more. Engler is doing what he was hired to do, which is deflect and protect the BoT and the Athletic Dept. Whatever spin anyone else puts on his appt is lying to everyone else and themselves.
Heck Baylor is back in the news with three more football players being suspended due to alleged sexual abuse
MSU is deflecting everything and not even trying to fix the problems they have and the media is allowing it.
|03/16/2018 - 12:25am||Ugliest tournament game I have ever seen||
It was rough before the clock delay and has been abysmal ever since. This is just unwatchable
|03/13/2018 - 3:39pm||I really like most of it||
The golf shirts are awesome, the first, third, fourth, fifth and sixth tees shirts are good too. They need a plain navy shirt with a huge block M on it just need the M in maize. The problem with the golf shirts is they don’t make enough and they sell out too quickly. But the golf shirts aren’t on M den yet anyway
|03/09/2018 - 3:08pm||So this Prince guy . . .||
Is he gonna be in charge of clipboards or putting paper on clipboards or the guy that arranges the signs on the sidelines so the offense knows which cartton character to emulate in the upcoming play?
Jebus there are a lot of positions in this program that no one outside of JH know what they do.
|03/08/2018 - 8:24am||Spartans Will||
duck & cover and avoid culpability every chance they get.
|03/06/2018 - 12:41pm||The SEC coaches will get this type of thing||
banned. It's not fair to the student-athletes spring break.
In the spirit of the event and the cuase, this is fantastic. To have our coach speak about a subject that is near and dear to all of our hearts and bring a true passion that exemplifies the Jimmy V Foundation and the man himself, this is AWESOME!
As my mom died of cancer and my uncle is fighting his own battle with the dreaded disease, it is close to me and a great event and foundation to support.
|03/06/2018 - 12:23pm||To call it what it is, it's a stereotype||
And because it's about a white male, it's chuckled at and said to be 'okay'. I'm not offended by it, but IF the definition of racism is judging someone by the color of his/her skin, well then . . it's racist. But it's not called that because it's a white male.
There was something written or stated somewhere in the last several months that racism only exists against minorites or people of lesser means or opportunity (paraphrased). Basically that white people can't be victims of racism. (Not political, just relating the statement)
|03/04/2018 - 7:18pm||Big||
|03/04/2018 - 7:03pm||Those bastards in EL||
and the fuckin' izzone can SUCK IT!!!
|03/04/2018 - 7:02pm||best new verb ever||
It takes a TEAM to win it all!
|03/04/2018 - 7:01pm||Raising a glass to Coach B||
Captain-n-Coke in hand Cheers to Coach B!
The cleanest coach and program in the country!
|03/04/2018 - 6:59pm||His name should be somewhere||
As of right now,he's the best coach since Bo.
|02/27/2018 - 10:57am||We can all point fingers, blame and complain about||
what happened and how the NCAA does nothing about it. The obvious truth here is the Tournament (March Madness) is their cash cow and they will do whatever it takes to make sure all the top teams and players are cleared and free to play without fear or obstruction of playing.
Nothing is going to change except they will probably allow players to get jobs or get paid. Either way that will escalate out of control. They stopped the players from getting jobs because top athletes would get a "job" at a booster's or donor's business and get paid lots of dollars and never show up.
They need to crucify a few top programs to clean this up, but that will never happen. Just like MSU will get no penalty and Izzo and Dantonio will come out unscatheed and coach for as long as they want to.
Reality, not being negative
|02/26/2018 - 1:02pm||My dad was an Olympian way back when||
When I saw the post about "greatest Olympian ever" I was going to reply that in my opinion it was my dad (a little biased). Then I re-read the post.
My dad won a silver medal in Rowing in the 4 (w/out coxon) in the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne Austrailia. He used to tell great stories of rowing all over the world. He has medals from multiple Pan Am games and World University games and the Henly in England. He held the Singles' Masters record at the Head of the Charles regatta for many years.
He's going to be 89 in March and unfortuantely his time is almost up. He is just hanging on these days.
|02/23/2018 - 2:22pm||Izzo, Calipari, Coach K etc will deny all||
claim to have no knowledge of any transaction or transgressions and get off scott-free. The NCAA will never bite the hand that feeds.
They won't punish the big boy because that would harm the cash cow of the tournament, regardless of it being this year or next.
IF the FBI can trace $$ and deals back to coaches like the Pitino stuff, then maybe a coach gets fired, but the NCAA won't be uncovering anything.
|02/23/2018 - 12:41pm||Simple||
They believe they are teflon in EL. They'll just burn another couch as penance
|02/21/2018 - 2:56pm||He was about the only religious speaker I could listen to.||
Billy Graham has a peaceful way about him even when he was fired up.
Quick story, I heard a motivational speaker tell the story that some kid was at one of his Crusades down south back in the day and was back stage and said to someone: "Can you believe so many people would come out to hear one man speak?" and the guy said to the boy, "God don't sponsor no flops".
|02/12/2018 - 10:11am||Maybe I'm naive||
but I didn't think the committee had the top four seeds already figured out with two weeks left in the regular season and the conference tourna,ments still to be played.
Seems the last week or two of the season doesn't carry much weight for the tournament seedings. Their minds are already made up, don't confuse them with the facts.
|02/07/2018 - 12:57pm||It’s not that it’s unacceptable||
The treatment of women and young girls at MSU is unacceptable.
It is simply more evidence to prove that this program is not what it once was. We don’t beat our rivals, we aren’t competitive with elite schools on the field or on the recruiting trail and we haven’t been in the conversation for division titles much less conference championships in years. We’re the fourth best in our division and we are barely ahead of MSU in the recruiting rankings.
Elite we are not. And there are no signs this will change in the foreseeable future. Heck we can’t even get decent offensive coaches to stay more than a few weeks. JH has some serious work ahead of him to fix this mess.
|02/07/2018 - 11:01am||Something is just not right in AA||
The poor performance on the field, JH's lack of enthusiasm all season, Complete disaray in the offensive coaching staff and recruits signing everywhere, but here. This is definitiely not the Michigan I knew and grew up with. We are the fourth best team in our own DIVISION and can't even pull a recruit from ND who lost their OC and DC and their HC is a trainwreck.
Bring on the bagmen. /s This is just ridiculous.
|02/07/2018 - 10:53am||That's it||
Vote of No Confidence. \
Between the shitshow that is this offensive coaching staff and missing out on so many severely-needed recruits, I've lost a lot of faith in what this staff is doing and the direction of the program.
|02/04/2018 - 11:32pm||The governor needs to terminate all of the BoT||
But somehow this university will find a way to fill it with former athletes, coaches and those that only care about the AD. They seem to have no regard for the academic side of MSU. It is truly sad. Must be embarrassing to be a graduate of that school. The only things that matter to the leadership is Izzo and Dantonio
|02/04/2018 - 11:25pm||I hoped for more from Patricia||
Unfortunately his game plan was just what the lions have been my entire life of 53 years. Swiss cheese. That was weak with two weeks to prepare.
|02/04/2018 - 9:20pm||As long as MSU stooges are running the school||
And investigations, I don’t see much happening except admitting they screwed up the Nassar scandal. Those two won’t touch Izzo or Dantonio
|02/03/2018 - 11:57am||I think Schuette and the investigation||
certainly look hard in to the Nassar side of the investigation. Some heads will roll and they will try to appease the public that they are imparshal. Then once they start looking into the football and basketball allegations, the effort wil be a dog and pony show and they will claim no wrongdoing occured in either program.
It is easy to point fingers all around on the Nassar scandal. Most of the work proving the improprieties have already been discovered. The football and basketball wrongdoings will be harder to prove and to save face they will point the finger in another direction and say the coaches did their due dilligence.
Can't see anyone with ties to MSU cutting the heads off the snake.
|02/02/2018 - 12:47pm||There is a special section of Hell||
reserved for those that prey on children and younger women. It seems that section is growing faster than ever before.
Maybe it's the social media era or the bravery of those abused, but ridding of the world of those bastards can't come soon enough, not to mention their enablers.
|02/02/2018 - 11:20am||Patriots||
|02/02/2018 - 10:10am||He needed a second person to be a diversion so he||
could get to that scumbag. I wish he would have gotten to him.
I have no idea what that would feel like, but the just thinking about my child being abused makes me seeth in anger. Just so sad this happened and all those jackasses in EL did nothing for years.
|02/01/2018 - 4:03pm||Wait, did the MSU BoT make this decision?||
I want an independant Investigor to get to the bottom of this immediately.
Are there any old MSU grads in politics that nothing better to do?
|02/01/2018 - 12:52pm||Two movies I have seen that have truly disturbing scenes||
1. The Scourging scene in The Passion of the Christ was very hard to watch.
2. The Bear attack scene and the early recovery scenes for Leonardo DiCaprio. That was disturbing. Great movie but seeing it once was enough.
When I was a kid, The exorcist was disturbing as well.
|01/31/2018 - 3:29pm||For fear of "living" in a glass house . . .||
how can anyone associated with MSU view their current situation as anything but an abject disaster? Every school has issues and failings, but the folks running MSU seem to think the only course of action is to insulate themselves from the truth with layers upon layers of green and white yesmen that view their only job as keeping the status quo.
Engler and Schutte will uncover nothing and cover up everything and nothing will change.
|01/31/2018 - 3:04pm||The guys at OTL||
would have loved to have information so concisely compiled.
I have zero faith anything will change with the watchdogs that have been appointed to "clean up" the mess
|01/31/2018 - 1:35pm||He did say||
it wasn't about recruiting, but it's still a fair question
|01/31/2018 - 1:18pm||My dad and uncle both received||
their graduate degrees from UM and my dad had season tickets from 1956 until I took them over about 10-12 years ago. I was born in 64 and he took me and or my brother from the time I was 2 years old.
According to my uncle there is no toher school than Michigan and no other hospital to go to than UM Health System.
I have never been a fan of another school or even thought about it.
|01/30/2018 - 3:09pm||With the "investigators" and "leaders"||
they are bringing on board to deal with all this, I doubt there will be much change. Engler is an MSU grad and Schuette is close with Dantonio, they won't force out the winningest coaches in their history in the revenue generating sports.
MSU put themselves on the map with basketball and now football. They would never bring in someone to tear it all down. They may put some much needed safeguards in place for female athletes and promise to investigate assault allegations in the future, but these slappies won't tear down the houses that Izzo and Dantonio have built. They will do nothing that will harm those situations or reputations.
No faith in that leadership. ESPN is about the only one that could force these guys out.
|01/30/2018 - 11:04am||The collusion hints||
happening already and they aren't even digging into the two revenue-generating programs yet. Bring in a true INDEPENDANT investigator from Montana or somewhere and get the whole truth exposed. The way this thing is going, they will just need a bigger rug and broom for the sweeping.
|01/29/2018 - 11:41pm||Oh||
and one more thing. These women who come forward aren't looking to get famous. Admitting to being abused takes more courage and deserves more respect than anything an athlete does on his field of play. Remember their identities are kept concealed until cases are publicized or they speak out.
|01/29/2018 - 11:39pm||I am not advocating a presumption of guilt||
or a lynch mob mentality. Nothing of the sort. In the case of what has allegedly transpired at MSU the investgation methods that have been used appear to have been "slow-played" in cases involving football and basketball players (revenue-generating sports) to the point of players missing no time and basically going unpunished. The teams don't suffer, the coaches "integrity" is preserved and the school appears to sweep the allegations under the rug.
It's not like there is one or two cases here. There is a culture of abuse and a system that protects the accused and does nothing for the true victims here. MSU is not the only school where these things have happened. It happened in Ann Arbor, PSU, Baylor, Florida State and probably most other major universities.
We have put such a premium on our sports teams and programs that rules are more like guidelines and coaches and administrators look the other way if the program helps the reputation of the school or brings in significant dollars.
Our moral compasses are way off and have given coaches of successful programs wayyy too much power.
|01/29/2018 - 10:53pm||There is talk of what is fair to player while||
what happened is investigated. And meanwhile the young woman who was abused sits in dark silence wondering if anyone is listening or even cares what happened to her. If the player allegedly took illegal benefits, the coach suspends the player immediately to preserve the integrity of wins and losses on the field of play.
Why in God's name is a possible felony crime that may destroy a young woman's LIFE be any less significant. The focus on the "fairness" for the player should come wayyyy down the list of importance.
The safety and welfare of the victim and the quick, imparshal and accurate investigation to determine facts should be paramount.
Any coach, any administrator, any department head should put the welfare of the victim ahead of any desire to win or protect their own reputation.
What happens all too often is worrying about stature and preserving someone's reputation. All leaders' first duty is to protect and defend those that cannot defend themselves.
I am sickened that they coaches and administrators even paused to think about preserving their own or the schools reputation when students have been attacked and abused. What has this country become?
