10/09/2015 - 4:47pm but what if

What if UM makes them one-dimensional and they stand sideways.............wouldn't they become invisible?

They would be really tough to tackle then.

10/09/2015 - 4:45pm you know......

that's a good point.  other than 6 field goals or two TDs and two 2 point conversions, how do you get to 18?

9 safeties (altogether possible.....)

10/09/2015 - 4:42pm A Bi-Polar view

On one hand, BYU and Maryland may not have been abnormal games after all.  If that's the case, then 21-7 would be a real butt-kicking by the Men in Blue.

HOWEVER

On the other hand, when has a UM/NU game been fun at all in the last few years?  This could very well be another mind-numbing, sleep-inducing 10-9 game all over again, with two defenses outclassing two poop-head offenses.

Oh Screw That.  I'm going 35-0 Michigan.

09/03/2015 - 4:28pm What's a Ute?

I'm sorry, but everytime I read anything about Utah, I can't help thinking of Fred Gwynne......

Michigan 34, Utah 9

or

Utah 34. Michigan 9

who knows?

07/31/2015 - 7:21pm tickets came today!!

Great quote in this story:

"You can observe a lot just by watching"

- Coach Harbaugh

01/24/2015 - 7:57am when I first moved to AA several years ago,

I wondered why the Detroit sport talk announcers were mostly state slappys. After a while I came to realize the obvious- MSU grads work at radio stations, but UM grads OWN radio stations!

01/24/2015 - 7:48am with regards to MSU

Stupid is as stupid does.

01/24/2015 - 7:46am what about those of us that

Shop at Meijer?

11/16/2014 - 2:00pm Harbaugh to Oakland......now what do we do?

Great, just stinkin' great......

From SBNation today:

The future of Jim Harbaugh with the San Francisco 49ers looks a little dimmer today after Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported he two sides are likely headed for divorce.

"At this point it would be a surprise if Jim Harbaugh is back with the 49ers," Rapoport claimed on NFL GameDay Morning Sunday, adding that success the rest of the season would probably have little impact on the team's decision. This echoes earlier reports that not even a Super Bowl title could extend Harbaugh's tenure in San Francisco. And according to Rapoport, the Miami Dolphins, long rumored as a potential landing spot for Harbaugh, are no longer an option. Miami's recent success apparently has convinced ownership to keep head coach Joe Philbin around and, in any case, Harbaugh is "not on the Dolphins' radar." Moreover, Harbaugh's wife does not want to leave the Bay Area, limiting the number of locations he can consider.

Accordingly, Rapoport listed the Oakland Raiders as a "real possibility" for Harbaugh. Oakland will play at least the 2015 season at the O.co Coliseum, erasing the need for Harbaugh's family to relocate. Tim Kawakami of Mercury News confirmed this, listing 49ers CEO Jed York's willingness to allow the moveand whether Mark Davis can find a suitable personnel executive as the main impediments to Harbaugh joining the Raiders.

10/12/2014 - 3:06pm OR

UM guys are coached poorly to the point of being put at risk.

10/12/2014 - 8:21am IT'S JUST YOU, DUDE

well it is.  so there.

10/11/2014 - 12:26pm on the other hand.....

I do have plenty of room in Section 36 that I didn't have just a couple of years ago.  Nope, no more cramped quarters for us.....we can spread out and get stuff at the concession stand quickly, and go to the bathroom at halftime and not miss the band, and get to our car really fast after the game.  Yep, it's all good!

On the other hand, a few successful trips to the red zone would be nice....................

10/10/2014 - 8:21pm PS

What do I tell my eleven year old when he asks "why did that man say our coaches' ass is made out of candy?"

Well, ok, he actually said the "coaches' rear-ends" but that's just because he isn't allowed to use profanity ..........

10/10/2014 - 8:11pm Here's how it's gonna go down - I think.......
  • Long line of former players welcomes team out.  Team acts fired up.  In Bradyland, dad now has 565 sons.
  • The game begins with a big play and a UM score.  The crowd goes wild!
  • PSU gets snuffed - three and out.  The crowd goes wilder!
  • UM goes 27 yards in 14 plays and settles for a field goal that didn't blocked, fer goodness sakes.  The crowd cheers!
  • PSU responds with a field goal.  The crowd responds with applause.
  • Then UM drives, but Gardner throws an unexpected interception - wow, that's different.  PSU returns it to the UM 20 and on the next play Hackenstorm-trooper throws one over Countess's head - wow that's unexpected - for a TD.
  • UM punts, PSU gets a field goal.  13-10 at the half.

polite applause as the team leave the fiel

  • Second half is "pure Michigan".  Gardner unexpectedly throws two more ints, Smith loses a fumble, and somebody else loses one just for good measure.  Wow, that's just plain unexpected.......
  • Side note:  attendance is announced as 101,010 which explains the 30,000 empty seats, which stands to reason, since we find out later that the stadium actually seats 147,901 "we had a little math problem that has now been corrected" (per Dave Brandon's interview on the Michigan Insider Monday).
  • Gardner finishes 13-31, 167 yards and 3 ints.  Smith carries 16 times for 50 yards (a vast improvement over last year Brandy will say next week on the coach's show).  Garner is sacked 5 times, wow, that's unexpected.......
  • Christian "stormtrooper" Hackenburg goes 27-34 for 376 yards and 3 TDs.  He is named Big 10 offensive player of the week (Brandy's comment on the coach's show is "by anybody's numbers that's a 10% improvement over last week, Brady").
  • UM is named the (just plain) offensive team team team of the week.

  • final score:  PSU 34, UM 10

In the words of Adrian Monk, "I could be wrong, but I don't think so"

09/27/2014 - 8:28pm One more thing.....

RR's teams were bad.  But their offense was at least interesting at times (okay, some of the time, but not often).

This team is bad and it is BORING.  Not a little boring....they are 'way friggin boring to watch.

09/27/2014 - 8:14pm I was there

Nussmeier at one point waved frantically for Shane to stay down so the ref would call time out and make him leave the game.  Morris - too much of a tough guy - wouldn't do it.

Hoke is a liar if he said he didn't see it - he was standing only a few feet away.

Hoke is also a horse's ass.  He made sure that an un-ready 19 year old got the crap kicked out of himself.  His demeanor on the sidelines said, "you idiots wanted him, so now you got him.  you're getting what you deserved."  I truly believe that Hoke set up the fans and Morris....

I am a 6 year season ticket holder.  The remaining three games are going  on Stubhub tonight.

Michigan under Hoke is just plain bad.  My Ohio State friends even feel bad for me.

09/21/2014 - 6:57pm the final exam?

this sounds like a bad Saturday night Live sketch.

2013 is the year we were waiting for

no wait, 2014 is the year

no wait, 2015 is going to be the year...

(no, THIS is the line of death.....)

09/21/2014 - 6:53pm I don't get it

3-9

5-7

7-6

RR improves each year and gets fired (deservedly so)

11-2

8-5

7-6

5-7 (if they are lucky) this year

BK gets worse each year and gets a vote of confidence

I don't get it, I don't get it, I don't get it......

The only question we should have at this point is Jim or John:  which Harbaugh should it be?????

09/07/2014 - 3:10pm He can't even spell HIPAA!

admit....you were thinking it.  i just said it.

09/07/2014 - 3:05pm almost completely agree

Except the part about "his time has gone".  Sadly, it was never here to begin with.

09/07/2014 - 9:18am This is HUGE

Big milestone last night.....Hoke did something that RichRod was never able to do

....toss a shutout.

I suddenly wish Tate was back, at least there was some fire there.

09/07/2014 - 9:15am will it be....

After the 8-4 season, losses to ND, OSU, MSU, and PSU will it be Harhaugh the younger brother or Harbagh the older brother?

Maybe it will be a guy with Michigan ties that successfully turned around a MAC program and a middle of the road team on the west coast.  No wait, they tried that already.

Go big or go home.....

12/02/2013 - 1:19pm I really hope it was "B"

that means Brady "gets it" and that he's actually in charge.

12/02/2013 - 1:16pm predictions for 2014

Ticket prices will go up.  UM will have a better defense than offense.  Brady will get criticized.  Matteson will pull rabbits out of his hat.  Borges (yes, he's still here) will be stupid, brilliant, stupid, brilliant, stupid, brilliant, ...........               in other words, 2014 will be a lot like 2013, except with a couple more wins.

12/02/2013 - 1:11pm next up

Next up is App. State.......Why did we schedule these cupcakes? No, wait, that's what Lloyd said.

11/30/2013 - 9:46pm maybe

maybe the roof will fall in next week at the OSU/MSU game.  No casulties, just scare everyone enough to call it off.............

11/30/2013 - 9:43pm Ten Observations from section 36

Observations from Section 36...

  1. FINALLY, Hoke wears a headset......i think it helped - he seemed to be more engaged in the offense.
  2. The female Ohio fan that sat next to my daughter was obnoxious
  3. The male Michigan fan who sat behind me was equally obnoxious, so they offset.
  4. Al Borges was coaching for his job.  Did he save it?  Maybe, maybe not (see point #1 above)
  5. Michigan kickoff guys are apparently tougher than OSU kickoff guys.  After all, UM's one ejectee was equal to 2 OSU ejectees.
  6. Most of the really good plays happened on the north end today, by section 36!
  7. Ohio is more talented, UM wanted it more.  I'll take "want-to" over talent any day.
  8. It wasn't a fumble.
  9. There will be a heck of a battle at RB next year for UM
  10. I hate that O-H-I-O thing.  But I guess it's good that they live in a state that they can at least spell, although I'm pretty sure the obnoxious lady that sat next to my daughter spelled it O-I-H-O.
11/27/2013 - 4:13pm win the tip

and play for the last shot........it's the ONLY way it won't be a blow-out.  Also, did you hear that the Ford Car Dealership in Ann Arbor changed its name to "B-Team Ford"?

11/27/2013 - 4:04pm he nailed it

"The NFL response to being unable to run is to throw, throw, and throw some more until a defense unloads the box. The problem is that Borges is unwilling or unable to do so with Gardner, likely because of turnover issues and the offensive line and tailbacks not being able to protect. Borges has thus resorted to a grab-bag offense. He’s trying various things to see what can work, but in doing so it’s compounding the problem because the offense is not coherent and telegraphs plays by formation."                                                                                I don't know much, but the guest commentor sure knows more than Borges does!

11/26/2013 - 8:27pm one thing is for sure

Hoke won't be a TV analyst:

Greg Gumbel:  So Coach, how do you SMU will adapt in the second half to Oklahoma's stunts?

Brady Hoke:  Awwww Wellllllll, we'll just have to see how many things go right, while other things could get in the way. Sometimes games just seem to take on a life of their own, in several layers this could be a turning point for some people who think it's all over after this half can be.  But he's a good boy that just has to coach 'em up while they seem like a safe bet.

Greg Gumbel:  okay, now here's a word from our sponsor

Director:  .........and we're out.

Greg Gumbel:  get me aspirin - NOW  - he is friggin killin me!

11/26/2013 - 8:17pm Brilliant!!

Brady Hoke is Fickle!

Brady Hoke is fickle!

(is Luke Fickel a Hoke?)

11/26/2013 - 8:13pm self-protect mode

While I am not done pulling for UM, I am SO DONE benig emotionally invested in this team.

I pledge not to use the "first person" when referring to the team...

  • no more "WE'll win Saturday",
  • no more "WE will kick your butts....."

Until further notice I am going into self-preservation mode.  And by the way, I am a season ticket holder who is, for the first time ever, dreading going to the game Saturday.  My daughter is home from college for the holiday and has been looking forward to this game for a year.  If is wasn't for her, I'd be at home eating leftovers.

11/24/2013 - 7:16pm Vandy coach under consideration?

Coach Franklin down at Vandy is a tough SEC coach who knows how to win.  His price could be right.  Read below:

From ESPN:

"Franklin's pay would place him in the bottom quarter of Southeastern Conference football head coaches. And for 2011, it was less than the amount Vanderbilt reported for Kevin Stalling, the men's basketball coach. "

11/24/2013 - 7:10pm meanwhile down in Nashville

there is a young, tough coach at Vandy who knows how to recruit at a strong academic school, knows how to win big games (beat Georgia and Tenn. this year) and most of all, knows how to win on a BIG stage - the SEC.

He'd look pretty darn good in maize and blue............

11/24/2013 - 7:06pm Dantonio to Texas!!!

Dantonio to Texas!

Dantonio to Texas!!

Dantonio to Texas!!!

(just because I started the rumor doesn't make it not true)

11/24/2013 - 7:02pm Dantonio to Texas!!!

Dantonio to Texas!

Dantonio to Texas!!

Dantonio to Texas!!!

(just because I started the rumor doesn't make it not true)

11/24/2013 - 2:30pm and if it weren't for his turnovers

UM would have won a couple more...........can't have it both ways, Mike.

Bottom line?  Hoke rhymes with broke and it is!

11/23/2013 - 11:46pm "Yes, the offense looks lost

"Yes, the offense looks lost but an inability to block, a lack of identity and critical dropped passes will do that to you."

is that kinda like:

"Yes, Iraq looks lost, but 150,000 critically dropped US bombs will do that to you".

11/23/2013 - 11:41pm did you hear the new joke?

Okay......UM gets a turnover in the Red Zone late in the Nebraska game, right?  The score is tied 10-10, right?  What's the deal?  Borges tries three futile runs, obviously trying to play it safe and set up a go-ahead field goal.

After the game, somebody asks Bogres why he went for 3.  His answer?  "Cause I couldn't go for two........."

hey, don't look at me, he's the one who can't call plays

11/23/2013 - 11:37pm One BIG difference Kevin-

UM has WON some close games this year (Akron, UConn, NW-ern) that they probably deserved to lose.  They have also lost some close games (NEB, PSU, Iowa) that weren't really close.

If UM had the "we lost a bunch of close games and otherwise we'd be good" season that MSU had last year, then UM's record would be 4-7 right now and Ann Arbor would have literally experienced spontaneous cumbustion and blown to pieces!  Now it's simply boiling.......

11/23/2013 - 11:24pm absolutely on purpose!

I started to spell "Hoke" with a "J" but that just felt mean-spirited.

11/23/2013 - 6:03pm you're right

RR didn'7 know defense,,,,,,,kinda like Brady doesn't know offense?

11/23/2013 - 6:01pm what if

RR came back, ran the offense and left Matteson alone to run the defense........

wake up, its only a bad dream!!!!! UM is really 11-0 !

11/23/2013 - 5:58pm LOL

and the Tampa Bay Bucs will edge out Buffalo to win the super bowl this year.......

seriously, what's the color of the sky in your world?

11/23/2013 - 5:55pm look around the Big Ten

ON THE UPSWING:

Ohio State - excellent

Michigan State - very good

Wisconsin - smooth coaching change - still very good

Minnesota - improving

Indiana - improved just a little in 2013

Penn State - pretty darn good, all things considered

ABOUT THE SAME:

Iowa - about the same

Northwestern -  a lot of heart, good at times

Purdue - is Purdue

Nebraska - pretty good when they play UM

WHEELS FALLING OFF:

Illinios - woud get a new coach if they could aford to fire Timmy

Michigan - any questions??

11/23/2013 - 5:03pm At the half

Arizona 28, Oregon 9

THANK HEAVEN WE PLAY MANBALL!!

11/23/2013 - 4:26pm for the past 7 seasons

for the past 7 seasons UM's record is

Carr: 9-4

Rod: 15-22

Hoke:  30-11

total:  54-37

throw out 6 seasons with 4 wins each season over MAC schools and such (can you say "Delaware State"?) and the record zooms to 40-37.  win one, lose one, win one, lose one.

It's the definition of Mediocre, Mr. Brandon............
