"Here's my last thing on the "Little Brother" comment too. Don't tell me it isn't a big deal or ask me "who cares?" I care. Thousands of others on this board care. What you ignorant UM fans don't seem to understand is that when he called us "Little Brother" it meant a whole hell of a lot more than football. When that classless overrated runt called us that he not only disrespected our football program for no reason, he disrespected ALL of our athletic programs. He disrespected my university, my sister's university and my friends' university. We're not his little ****ing brother we're not UM's little brother. We're a seperate, outstanding, university whether you or anyone else likes it."

While this may be a bit overwrought, the whole post actually sounded marginally coherent and seemed like the guy cared. I think Hart was great for UM, but from the outside he did come across as a bit mouthy and childish. Neg me if you want, but I tend to agree that college athletes should keep their mouthes shut and just play the game. Talk smack on the field, but don't look like an idiot in the press room.

I'm with you for the most part and ordinarily this type of comment would have irked me. But Hart said that stuff after just having gone 4-0 against them, he had already done his talking on the field.

I see no harm in this kind of comment particularly versus all the stuff about hate and arrogance coming from msu for many, many years. Furthermore the comment was within context of their coach holding a moment of silence for the demise of Michigan football. All said and done, Hart earned the right to mouth off a little.

Saying he looked "like an idiot in the press room" is a bit much. Idiocy in the press room is when as a 50-something year-old man you take a personal jab at a 22-year-old player's height. After said player just beat you.

"MSU has a much better basketball program, a much better campus, an equal hockey program, better facilities, MUCH more loyal fanbase, and great academic programs that are CONSTANTALLY getting closer to UM's.Yet were the Little Brother? Do you ever hear any of our athletes taunt another university like that? Its just amazing, Foote runs his mouth CONSTANTALLY, Hart did too."

Why are you even going over there?

I have never understood the appeal of going over to someone elses site to troll. Especially posting.... whoever is SparyNo! is just an idiot and is giving Michigan fans a bad name.

The Scout Dorks love to go to Sparty boards and bring their shit over to Michigan boards and then go all, "See how they are obsessed with us?" AND then they brag about getting banned on Sparty boards after being assholes.

I honeslty don't get what motivates someone to bring their shit here. Go over there, post with them, discuss with them, whatever. But leave that shit THERE please.

Yeah, this stuff sounds like the same posts you see at mlive and the freep. MSU is a good Big 10 school - nothing wrong with that. But nationally, UM is heads and tails above them in terms of academics, intercollegiate sports, and overall name recognition. I'm a proud Spartan alumni, but at some point it just sounds like you have an inferiority complex. I would never say that UM has academics that are "getting closer" to Harvard or Stanford, only that the schools offer top-notch programs across a variety of disciplines.

That said, maybe we should stop trolling at RCMB. It just seems a bit unseemly.

Oh no, I get it. Made a mistake and I'll fess up to it. I will say that grammar policing as a sign of intelligence is one of the most annoying tendencies on the Internet. If you think someone is ignorant, base it on the substance of their posts, not the fact they misspelled a word.

I would say that UM has an academic reputation in the ballpark of institutions like Harvard and Stanford. Not across the board by any means, but certainly in a lot of programs. There are MANY Michigan degrees, both undergrad and grad, that are at least as good, if not better than those which are offered at Ivy League/ top fifteen schools.

MSU can't even begin to make a claim like that. I think this is why it's frustrating for a lot of us; MSU graduates seem to think that they are somehow even in the ballpark on this issue. MSU is a good institution, but Michigan has a reputation on a global scale.

While I agree with the sentiment, there are programs at MSU that are top-notch. Off the top of my head, I know their supply-chain management program at the business school is top-5, as is nuclear physics. Their vet school is consistently one of the best, as is Osteopathic Medicine. They are a good school.

As for UM, some of their programs are tops in America, but schools like Harvard and Stanford consistently rank in the top 4-5 for virtually every school/program they offer. I'm fine with UM being a really good school but not necessarily at the same level as an Ivy/West Coast Ivy - those are some of the best schools in the world. I'm proud of my education at UM, but I think putting too much emphasis on the "we're just as good as you" argument is an exercise in futility.

equal hockey program??? What are they smoking? The MSU's hockey team's recruiting has been plummeting. Secondly, they finished second to last in the CCHA just a game above Bowling Green. I went to every damn hockey game last season and Bowling Green's hockey team was better. MSU is not going to be any better this season after losing the midget goalie. Chelios' son is not going to help. That kid barely has talent above a walk on.

Better campus??? Have they smelled their own campus? It literally smells like shit from the manure. You do not have that great of campus if I can walk across it from the south border to the north border in 30 min.

Loyal fan base? That is complete bullcrap. Whenever Michigan plays MSU in hockey, there is always more Michigan fans than MSU fans at Munn. If any of their teams start to tank, their fans abandon them.

Reminds me of a discussion I had with an MSU fan/friend at a tailgate a few years ago. He accused Michigan fans of being "elitist." My response: "We're not elitist. We're elite."

... because MSU is inferior. MSU's constant whining and "beat-us envy" is the seamy underside of the old adage that "it isn't bragging if you back it up."

I see in the OP that "fella" may be replacing the various forms of "bro" in the Sparty lexicon. That's a noteworthy development.

If people want to go over to the RCMB or any other MSU site, that is fine with me....to each his own right? But can we please stop linking to it? This is mgoblog.com not RCMB. If I wanted to read the shit on that board I would go to it myself.
