Your premature Friday drinking thread

Submitted by wigeon on

Fluffed off work today (sales calls) and flyfished the Pere Marquette. Put a couple beautiful steelhead and browns on the beach (released) and did a quasi-bar tour home.  Nothing risky or illegal - had a Knob at nice little hole in the wall in Custer, then a Maker's near home, with a beer stop in between.

Listened to the Clash all the way down 31, and after checking in with office,  got in a weekend fame of mind.

We'll beat OSU by 8 or more Sunday, don't worry your pretty little head.  Now enjoying a Fat Tire or three with plans for a Lagavulin (and probably bed) by 10.

Beat Ohio, and have a great weekend.

Surly Bender. A phenomenal oatmeal stout from a brewery in Minneapolis.

Celebrating an important life event that I cannot disclose here because some people on here know who I actually am. But it's good news. Cheers.

The quote from "Batman Forever" popped into my head as I left work, "Ah. Fortune smiles...another day of wine and roses, or in your case, beer and pizza."

So, Hacker-Pschorr and Papa Romano's it has been this evening. Nice, relaxing start to the weekend though.

I've been doing a lot more Scotch lately.  Sometimes the good stuff on the rocks, and sometimes blended (usually Chivas or Johnny) with a little ginger ale.  So I'm deciding between Chivas 18 with Canada Dry or Macallan's 12 without.

was a good afternoon.  "Guided" a client (I'm not a guide, will ever be one), and his 13 year old son.  Boy Trevor landed his first steelhead (on a flyrod no less), and his Dad and I connected big time, which was important (and the whole point of the day).

The coolest part was at one point Dad quit fishing entirely, and was completely focused on his kid - making the right casts and mends, and when he finally connected it was pure bedlam.

Dad's a Sparty, btw.  If all Sparties were as cool and decent as he, there'd be no rivalry.

Found something different in the store today. Blue Moon Valencia Grove Amber. I can't really place what it tastes like but it's not bad.

And it's never premature to start drinking. It's 5 o'clock somewhere!

Had surgery for a knee issue that has had me sidelined since the Nebraska game, so I'm on hydrocodone and high dosage acetaminophen. Feeling good though, all things considered. Watching Season 2 of Dexter; never watched the show except when my mom, sister or girlfriend happened to have it on, so I started this break. I'm drinking orange juice, water and maybe some maize Kool-Aid (lemonade).

Can't wait to be back to working out in a week or so. It's been like ten weeks since I've been able to get a decent cardio workout in.
