Unbelieveably inspiring story about this young man who endured losing his mother at the age of 7, growing up with an alcoholic father, and overcoming homelessness on his way to gaining admission to Michigan's Nursing school and competing for a walk-on spot this coming year.
Just read the damn article.
Tough life growing up with a dad like that. Awesome to see a kid overcome those kind of obstacles...plus making a good career decision to go into nursing.
Wow. Incredible story. Heartwarming, heartbreaking. This is someone you really want to see succeed in school, sports, but more than that, in life. Thanks much for sharing this.
I really hope the kid makes the team as a walk-on, but even if he doesn't, it's still a moving story everybody should read.
Nursing is a tough major to fit into an athlete's schedule. Best of luck to Ethan.
I tried to find a little more information on the mother's death, but there isn't much out there. Hard for me to believe someone just ends up dead in the Detroit River out of nowhere???
Really good, well-written article. He's someone to root for, and if he makes the team, he'll be my new favorite.
