WS Update

Submitted by umbig11 on

Chris Balas (Rivals) saw Wilton over at Schembechler Hall ealier today without a sling, walking normally and arms swinging. Very good news on that front!

Edit: Doug Karsch also commented on the radio today that he would not be surprised if Wilton played this week or next. Doug has a lot of contacts within the program. Something to keep an eye on.

I always wanted to be a werewolf (I have an small obsession with werewolf movies and lore).  Anyway, before I knew what PEDs were my thought was that if Scott could become a super awesome basketball player (werewolf=PEDs in this illustration) I could be a super star awesome HOF baseball player!  If I had have morphed maybe I could have been the werewolf drinking Pina Collas at Trader Vic's?  Alas I was never bitten and never morphed and was not at Trader Vic's with Insider info of WS.

Nick @Mlive posted this to twitter also, which made me excited. Then someone tweeted pictures of a "backpack" style brace that is worn under clothes that wouldn't be seen.

So, I had to wear that thing too. I'll say this, even wearing it under your clothes, it is pretty noticeable if you're looking at someone that isn't wearing a bulky sweatshirt or jacket. The absence of a sling is curious too, as when I broke mine, I had to wear a sling for a week or two.

Hey hey! Broke mine into 3 pieces. Plate and 10 screws holding it all together. Been in there for 10 years (probably should have had it taken out but.... o well?)

I was in a sling for about a week post surgery, then got annoyed with it and stopped wearing it. However since the plate was holding it together, it's not like it was going to pull itself apart. If Speight had borken it, he would be in a sling to keep the bone from separating or a brace to hold the bone apart to let it fuse back together.

I've broken my collar bone twice, and both times I used the figure-8 strap.  I tried the sling on the first break but it was actually painful because my arm/shoulder ended up putting weight on my chest.  The figure-8 strap pulls the weight off the collar bone and also helps to prevent the ever-popular "bump" at the break location.

Yeah, the guy was a dick. One time for a follow up appointment he was 45 minutes late, and walked in the front door with his golf clubs. Another time, he grabbed my bad shoulder and wrenched on it. When I winced he asked, "what's wrong? This is your good one, right?" Yeah, no..
