Worst collision ever?

The UofM/PSU game always jogs my memory back to this hit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEccmg4JRbE Can anyone tell me what happened to the PSU guy? I know the UofM kid broke a bone in his neck. The YouTube member says it ended both of their careers, is this true for the PSU kid? This has to be one of the top five worst collisions in football. Or at least one of the most violent.
