"Wolverine Wanderings" Or One Mod Branches Out...

Submitted by LSAClassOf2000 on

With the approval of higher ups, I am going to do a little promotion here.

You may or may not have heard that there is a fledgling but quickly expanding thing called "Wolverine Sports Radio" ,brought to everyone by VSporto.

There is some excellent content already on the air and/or being developed, but I would love to know what you think about the show that I am part of - "Wolverine Wanderings". Currently, there is only about a month or so worth of shows up (started at the start of this year), and we're currently splitting the show into two 30-minute stints from a single one-hour show, but they are definitely available.

iOS folks, the channel is here - LINK

Android folks, you can find it here, I believe (or hear it broadcast on the web) - LINK

Those are the links I was provided, so let me know if there are issues. Again, just trying to get the word out. Let me know if there's anything you want discussed or anything you think could get better. It's evolving, it's going in the right direction, but I wanted to share with the MGoBoard.

In addition to the show I am part of, there are folks from sites such as The Big House Report and Maize N Brew as well as a few others (some of whom also post here occasionally), so it's definitely worth it.

What does it add to the conversation that others don't?  (Not trying to be a dick, just genuinely curious about the content)

the idea if you took the time to listen rather than post.

It's kind of like 97.1 without the pompous host promoting themselves and the host actually knows something about what he's talking about.

Looking forward to listening to the rest of it later. Great job and worth the listen.

MGoBlog has been a launching pad for many successful careers at other ventures. So far this has been good for all. Brian has done a great job given this reality. Good luck to you but I am confident that MGoBlog will continue to be the go to source for Michigan sports.

Yes indeed. This is in no way meant to compete with the vastness of MGoBlog - it's a side venture for me in addition to being a mod here and in addition to the job which brings in the bulk of my money.

The time investment in a podcast (planning and doing), I am finding, actually is less than the time I spend each week trying to keep this place looking sane, but then I develop routines and systems to fit it all in.

So, you're saying this isn't meant to take the place of your contributions to this site, just provide another opportunity to unite the fanbase? Will it be unique and feature Michigan talent like Eminem? Hope it goes well! Will check it out. Thanks for your time/efforts here (and now there).

There's a list of podcasts of you download the app. I have it and really enjoy it. I don't get much Michigan talk out in Illinois, so this is just what I need.

Space Coyote, Magnus and Mathlete to contribute! These are some of my favorite posters on mgoblog! Of course Brian would be great to have on your podcast!

at least get the team right:

"A great way to stay in touch with my home team

As a native of Michigan, I grew up a fan of the War Eagles. When I found this app, I was really excited to that I found a way to keep in touch with my favorite team!"

"War Eagles?"

What are you talking about Don?  You're not familiar with the Southern Michigan University War Eagles?

BTW - this is one of those threads with random, seemingly unprovoked down votes that make zero sense to me.  MgoBrew Mom gets two downvotes for being encouraging?  WTF?  And LSAClassof2000 gets downvoted for explaining why he's doing this?  Yet the same people who will downvote our Mod in the thread dont have the balls to downvote his post so others can see who did it.

I'll never understand some people.

So much of it is so obviously petty and juvenile that some threads look like an MLive post.

If you did a psychological study of all the twerps who do this, you'd be able to build a pretty comprehensive—and consistent—character profile. And it wouldn't be pretty. That's why I'm in favor of a commenting system that identifies who's upvoting or downvoting in threads.
