WMU and ND

Submitted by ndhillon on
I've watched the WMU game 3 times through and noticed a couple of things that I haven't seen brought up elsewhere...at least not specifically: OL: People were complaining about the overall Oline play in the run game, I thought a lot of this could be attributed to #72 and #71...they were missing a lot of blocks in the open field at the 2nd level (perhaps Brian will correct me on this in the UFR.) Meanwhile, Molk and Schilling were just absolutely mauling people...good to see. WR/TE: Based on what I saw last year...ND doesn't have the athletes to cover Koger and Hemmingway. It'll be like Roddy White-Tony Gonzalez at the college level. I definitely don't see how ND covers Koger, Junior AND our slot guys. Btw, wasn't ESPN the only recruiting site that was big on Junior? Go figure. Also something I'm interested to see in the UFR: Savoy's route on the Sheridan INT. RB: Minor is going to go OFF. It appeared that running between the guards had limited success in this game, but I'm sure Brandon got something to remedy that. Also pretty cool to see Vincent Smith as a POWER back out of the ace formation. Roh: Dropping back into coverage gave Hiller fits. Clauson is supposed to be a vet, interesting to see how he deals with the fire zones. Denard: He could've broken to the outside on a couple of runs I thought...but seemed to be looking to go upfield through traffic. ALL IN: Notre Dame, get some.

Savoy's route on the Sheridan INT
I've seen some other people question this as well. I thought this might be a tough read for the UFR as we don't know if it's Savoy or Sheridan that might have created the poor play. I don't think the replays showed the route either, which makes Brian's review complicated as well.

Man I cant wait for the UFR for this game. I've already watched the game 2 times and I want to see how Brian breaks it down and if it matches my observations. Also, I've read a few from last season. Is there somewhere I can find a UFR key or coding system that will help with some of the metrics?

QB Chart Legend: http://mgoblog.com/content/hennechart-legend?page=7 WR's:
  • 0: totally uncatchable, just here to indicate targeting
  • 1: extremely difficult catch.
  • 2: moderately difficult catch.
  • 3: routine catch.
If there's anything else you have a question about, post a follow up question here and someone will try to help you out.

I'm interested in seeing how the O-line grades out in the UFR too. I was mildly disappoined in the run blocking despite a fairly impressive rushing total off 240+ yards. It seemed like a lot of our yards came not with great blocking but with our skill players out-athleting overmatched tacklers.

I forgot to DVR the game and was wondering where I could rewatch the game. Will it be replayed on the BTN? Online? Anywhere?
