Wisconsin SO CB Dontye Carriere-Williams leaves team
Williams played in 12 games last year starting 5. With both of Wisconsin's starting CBs from last year graduating, Williams was competing for a starting job but was a second stringer when Wisconsin released their depth chart. He was still expected to play a lot so losing him is a blow to a thin/inexperienced unit for Wisconsin.

Let CB cloning operations commence in Madison.

Cloners?....are they friendly?

No. The clones are incubated in cheese whiz.

Come on, its Wisconsin not MSU. Everyone knows they grow in cheese curds and bratwurst drippings.

Did he wear a hoodie? If not, was he going to be forced to wear one?

No, that's why he was 2nd string.

I imagine it's a bruise to the ego to be a 2nd stringer, but my gosh you worked so hard for 9 months to just walk away. Not to mention giving up on your teammates...

Sounds like from the article that maybe he wasn't working so hard: "He knows what it's like on Saturdays, but that doesn't give him a pass to compete on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and in training camp."

Wisconsin’s built a program where almost no player is irreplaceable; phenomenal coaching and player development. Unfortunately when you don’t/can’t recruit many 4 or 5 stars, there’s pretty much a ceiling on where that type of program can get you.

I think that's more true for their linemen and LBs, not sure it applies to skill position players.

That has been the story for Wisconsin this decade. With a #4 preseason ranking and a relatively soft schedule, this is the year for Chryst to prove he can take them over the top. I'm bullish on the Badgers but history makes it hard to see them as a national title contender.

I don't know. They've lost some Dlineman, some WRs, and now this on top of normal attrition. I have a feeling it may catch up to them this year. If they were in the east I would think 4th or 5th in the division this year and I am thinking this might be the year that someone catches them in their division.

Can their whole O-line please leave, too?

A better program than ours?

It doesn't take much effort to read between the lines and guess he was butthurt at Leonard's comments about his practice performance.

Definitely a loss for Wisconsin, but to leave this late?? Especially when you’re still going to get plenty of PT?

This seems increasingly common. We saw it to a lesser degree with Irving-Bey. He may not have seen a lot of playing time this year but he was definitely still in the mix for 2019 and beyond.

What a terrible offseason for Wisco. Minus some running back issues, they're usually much more stable than this.

Does he get to keep his hoodie?
