I want to see the WR routes, we have more recievers not open than any team I have ever watched.  I would love to see the routes.   Something is broke and I don't think it's the playres.

is still frustrating. Peters is gonna be good. When he went out the team just lost its momentum. We were in some good spots. I'm not giving up on our guys. Next year we should be awesome. Veteran team coming back. So Ill refrain from the Fire Harbaugh talk.

It was the receivers that weren't good enough to get open. Except for DPJ. Playing a guy like Crawford is telling of what is behind him. There isn't much. How many chances did the defense give the offense great field position and nothing was accomplished. Like 5 times early in the game. Teams under Carr even would've got something there.

1.  Unless the o-line is much better in 2018, things will continue to stagnate on offense.

2.  Peters can be a guy that makes the offense work well (assuming a better o-line).  Therefore, things could look a ton better 12 months from now (again, assuming a better o-line).

The rest is stuff that is really not that bad, is fixible with maturity of the roster, and/or will look a lot better with a decent o-line.

Is it Drevno and/or Frey that are terrible at coaaching o-line?  Or is it just that certain o-line starters this year have a ceiling (especially with the mental part on blocking assignments, etc)?

Hard to know for sure, but Drevno and Frey have in fact had success in the past, so maybe it it personnel that just are not great at the mental side of the game.

Will be interesting to see if JH makes any offensive staff changes over the winter.

All I know is Drevno and Frey better get their asses moving and coach these kids hard. Have to get these boys in the weight room so bad it's not even funny. It's pretty bad when a ture freshman fullback is the strongest bench press lifter on the team. What the fuck is that? The only way this offensive line becomes great next year is if they decide to kill their bodies this offseason. Plyometric training and weights. If they keep it up with their current mentality and training motivation, the team is fucked again.

no passing game, it makes it pretty easy for the defense to just stack the box and stuff the run.  WRs can't catch, and the O Line continues to be the o line.  don't they work on this shit in practice?  it sure as hell doesn't look like it.....

This offense cannot generate rushing yards against good defenses and the passing game lacks explosiveness. Why is JOK a QB at UM in a big game? Why is a true frosh our only viable WR? Why is the OL crap in pass blocking AND run blocking? Why doesn't UM have an elite RB? Even worse - it's ugly, boring, pedantic football.

Good - Peters. Made some great throws. He is the future. Did well against a great D and hostile environment. - DPJ coming on. Bad - can't pick up stunts - running game getting stuffed - TE dropping easy catchable passes - lack of offensive innovation/trickery/too much prostyle Overall Peters will be a good QB. We lack elite RB , not sure why we can't recruit one. O line isn't terrible but it's average. I believe we will be better next year for sure. Wisconsin isn't that good. Also look at Georgia getting demolished by auburn. We didn't get destroyed we were beaten with a QB who got knocked out.

Why would an elite running back recruit come here when the last drafted Michigan running back was Mike Hart in 2008, or the last time a Michigan RB cracked 1000+ yards was Toussaint in 2011? So not only is an elite RB coming to a place where they have to share carries with 3-4 other guys, but also no recent history of success at the position?

Man this is depressing. Year 3 and we can’t pick up a single fucking stunt or twist. Also we have too many god damn irons in the fire. 2 offensive line coaches, 3 different coaches who call plays, it’s a clusterfuck and no team in the country runs an offense like us. The amount of $$$ we spend on this offensive staff is comical when comparing pay to results.

The passing offense seemed efficient enough to win against the #1 defense until Peters went out. After that, we were treated to a sub-Sheridan performance. DPJ really seemed to grow up as a WR in this game. Too bad we couldn't get him the ball as the game went on.

Assuming Peters doesn't play next week, I'm interested to hear people's thoughts on whether or not hes done enough this year to be the leader to start at QB in 2018 or if its going to be an open competition between him and DMac?  I just don't see Speight being the guy in 18.

I think you always have to go into a new season approaching it as a competition.  But if Peters can continue to improve, he's likely to be the starter in 2018.  He has a nice touch on the ball and generally makes good decisions.  Despite the whisperings before he became starter, the team seems to have faith in him as the leader.

Speight, Newsome, Peters, Onwenu, Black, Crawford, Perry, Higdon, Isaac, Perry have all been hurt and/or missed time, and I'm sure I'm missing somebody.  Team is also extremely young.  Thanks to the new Big 10, we also get to go from some of the worst teams to some of the best.  Obviously things aren't ideal, but some of you idiots have a track record for band wagoning on your own team.  It'll be interesting to see the reactions when things do turn around.

I wouldn't say it's a miracle we're 8-3. Michigan beats mid-range teams, loses to good teams, and MSU is somewhere in the middle and we can (and have) argued about that game being Harbaugh's first significant struggle in the coaching decisions department.

The OL plays like that. Dominant run blocking against weaker opponents, but couldn't get the job done today. Pass protection has been an issue all season. It takes time to develop OL. The Newsome injury is probably the worst thing to happen to the team in years.

O'Korn plays like a guy who couldn't keep a starting job in the AAC. There's just no coaching that up. The receivers have been a disappointment, though DPJ clearly has great skills and is a canidate for a big breakout next season. And Black was already looking good. I'm not worried about receivers for next season.

A couple of breaks, and today's game would have gone down to the wire. That's a positive.

This season hasn't been great, but if they somehow find a way to win next Saturday, I'll be happy. I don't give a damn about the bowl either way - just glad they get the extra practice time.

I think it's clear, Peters is the best QB on this team & can be the guy for the future. The O-line struggles in past protection and needs to get better. However, my two biggest takeaways from today is the receiving core isn't very good and nobody scares you. Other than DPJ bomb to setup TD #1, any player catch a ball that wasn't a gimme? You can't expect guys wide open all the time against good teams. You need guys to make plays. This receiving core is really bad. With that said the 2nd thing, don't think the coaches & play calling put the O and the guys in the best way to succeed. Hence, why Pep needs to go and we have to get a true WR coach.

  • I think in 2006-7 when Bo died the spirit of Michigan football left Ann Arbor and headed over to Madison.  Wisconsin's program is what our program used to be, and what we want it to be.  Mauling run game with a star back plugged in every 2 years, and a solid defense.  The difference is we attract better recruits, especially at QB and WR so theoretically our ceiling would be higher if we could just get that program back.
  • The problem I have with JH's pro attack is it's a card castle.  As Brian put it, the "one guy" thing.  Well that's what happens when you install pro schemes and expect pro pass blocking fro college kids, and expect pro reads from a college QB.  Just not good.  Worst of all, JH's schemes offer zero QB threat, just as Lloyd's did, thus handicapping Michigan that much more relative to Ohio State.
  • JH needs to evidence the ability to adapt to the college game better.  His success at Stanford vs top dogs like USC is looking more and more like he just caught some people off guard, but now that he's been around, his system is solved by top defenses.
  • He  needs to demote Drevno and bring in a create OC who teaches college QBs that it is OK to throw into single coverage sometimes rather than always tossing it out of bounds.  The leash our O coordinators are giving our QBs re window size before throwing is way to short.  Fucking throw the ball and hope for a catch or a PI.  Tired of seeing opposing noodle QBs fitting tight windows on prayer throws while ours throw it away time and again.
  • If we get the same ole same ole next year, I'll be very disappointed in JH.  We love him mainly because  he is a fighter who wants to win with integrity.  Choose wins over loyalty to Drevno or Pep please.
  • Big Ten refs are anti UM.  2 marginal PIs against us on key 3rd downs, several PI noncalls against grabby and pushy Wisconsin DBs, and this which should without question have been a touchdown: https://twitter.com/KevinOnCFB/status/931949087699750913/photo/1

Punting the ball down multiple scores with 8 minutes left in the game really frustrated me. at this point there's a good chance you're going to lose anyway, and you can't score without the ball, so what do you do? Give them the ball so they can kill the clock. So damn frustrating watching Lloyd ball. If you go for it there's a chance you get it. If you don't get it and they score, it's still a loss. Nothing changes except the margin of the loss which doesn't matter.
