Win out and in

Submitted by Catchafire on
The stars did not align for us last night and we losses. A million things could have happened differently and we win. Here is the thing: Beat Indiana!

I see a lot of people being more concerned with cfp then actual winning the big ten. I like to win it all but honestly for JH second year winning or even going to big ten would be huge. I say lets get that big ten title then we worry about playoffs

Kyle Kalis got destroyed by Jaleel Johnson all game long. 5 star and 5th year senior who has started four years and he looked like a true freshman 3 star. Disappointing.

I think a lot of us would have felt better if this loss had happened earlier in the season. Being so close to the OSU game, will the team be ready? Very iffy. OSU has had more time to fix and move on. MSU exposed some issues which should had been address by this point (imho) but since that game, the teams have been using it to their advantage and we haven't been able to or want to make adjustments. Now there is a ton of film for Indiana and OSU. I think we will beat Indiana but not by a lot. I don't think we have a formula to fix what is wrong enough to keep OSU from winning, especially in that high pressured environment. I think it will be close....similar to the Iowa game.

A LOT has changed.  We now have one path to the playoff, and one path only.  If we were undefeated going to Ohio State, we would have had 3 or 4 plausible paths.  What changed was our margin for error, which is gone.  I still think we have a good chance to beat them, but the defensive issues we are showing are scary ones that Meyer WILL exploit if we can't fix them.  We may not be able to if it's a talent/athleticism issue.  And OP, I negged you solely because I am not ready to feel better about this yet.  Maybe tomorrow.

We will definitely be more focused and hungry against ohio than if we walked into scumlumbus 11-0.  Lot of the Michigan faithful have already conceded a lost to ohio.  Don't watch the Game, we don't need you.

We have a great opportunity and I gotta believe Harbaugh will have the team ready.

Not sure who it was either last week or other but they said something to the effect of ....

"If you think we are just going to waltz into Iowa and beat them easily you need to re-think it".

I'd like to point out again ..... It's Harbaugh's 2nd season ... He is doing a fantastic job with what he has right now.  I personally expect great tthings in year 4 (it will then be all his guys).  One game or even two game losses or other at this point isn't going to freak me out.  I don't expect miracles.  The whole mindset of his teams is far better.  They lost .... it sucks and hurts and they didn't look so great doing it.  Of course if Speight hit just ONE of those deep balls he under threw we win or any other scenerios could of won the game.  I thought we might be a 1 or 2 loss team easily.  We are good and we are in the ranks of the better teams in college football but I don't think we are great and many of you I feel think "poof" we are magical and expected to win it all.

It is extremely hard to go undefeated.  I personally only played on 1 team in my 10 years of playing football that went undefeated during the season, only to lose the championship game at the end.  I would have MUCH rather have lost a game during the season for sure.

So .... I just say this to say .... we are and do have a good team .. I think the loss is ok and maybe it puts a new "fire" under our seat!

I think we can beat Indiana and yes I actually still think we can beat OSU.  They are a good team .. but I don't think they are great.  If we can hang with them into the fourth, I feel we do have a shot.   Indiana is first though ... and they have played people tough .. they will play for 4 quarters with us I think like Iowa and MSU did.

The coaches will coach up the areas they need to. I have faith in them and the team.

Like the poster said .. if we win out we are most certainly in ..... maybe this was the right time to lose ..... We are a good team .. we just have played a bit sloppy in a couple of games we probably shouldn't have.

Hoping for the best ..... The future is still bright and we still have the right coaches to get it done.

A team's performance is random.  Thus, it is incredibly unlikely for a college team playing other college teams to go undefeated.  It was bound to happen at some point.  Luckily, the loss came at the most forgivable time.

I think this team might be too used to breaking opposing teams' wills in first quarter/second quarter, so they aren't accustomed to playing a full 60 mins.  However, I'm not sure how they are going to correct that.

I guess you're right, but I'm not too worried about that.  The opposite of being emotional is being contemplative.  I think our players are focused on thinking about how to play better and figuring out how to game the opponents' tendencies.  To me, that's better than playing with emotion, which is often double-edged.
