Im a little surprised but my gut feeling is that this is a very good sign that Mccaffrey must be developing quickly and Wilton saw the writing on the wall for his future.  Between Mccaffey,  Peters,  Doyle and Milton were going to strike gold with one of them.  Im puting my money on Mccaffrey or Doyle,  just have the feeling that these two have the mental makeup to take this team all the way.

Thank you Wilton for your blood, sweat, and tears. You blossomed into a good qb, and a Michigan man. I wish you the best wherever you go in life. I know you will succeed bc you are one tough SOB

I have mixed feelings about his decision. On one hand, I wish he would stay and compete for the starting job. Depth at the QB position is needed. In comparison, he didn't always perform to expectations when it mattered the most. I know injury played a role in this during the end of 2016. I do think the timing of his announcement is poor. Let's kick the fanbase some more while we are all still emotionally feeling down from yesterday.

It’s probbaly a good move for all parties. I think it’s going to be difficult to beat out Peters now that Peters won’t be going into next season green. I believe that Harbaugh wants guys with a little more mobility in the pocket. Speight was a class act so hope he has success. Before the Iowa game last season, I thought he looked like an NFL prospect. Still could get back there if he gets healthy and fixes his footwork.
