Willie Ferrell visits

Submitted by TomVH on
Per Rivals, Willie Ferrell has set his official visits, and Michigan is on the list. Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Michigan will get a visit from the Inside Linebacker. He was originally committed to LSU, but has opened things up. I'm thinking that Ole Miss might be the leader here, possibly Tennessee, so I think we have some ground to make up. He looks like a definite upgrade from Jordan Barnes though, and would be a great late pick up for us.

I agree that I would really like a stud LB, I think the defensive line as a whole is a bigger concern for them RIGHT NOW. We're young at DT, and DE besides Graham. Mike Martin played this past year, and played well, and VanBergen played sparingly. By pulling in 2 solid defensive ends, and possibly one or two more quality guys, we're setting ourselves up for the future. I would rather have 3-4 defensive ends, and hope they pan out, than put all our luck on 2 for the future. Having competition within positions is a good thing.

With Barkevious Mingo visiting (I know he is a long shot but he could drink the kool aide while on campus), it seems Michigan wants to pick up one more LB in this class. Tom, do you agree? I am thinking: 1-WR 1-DB 1-Otter 1-LB 1-OL for the final 5 spots.

Yea, that list would be ideal. We'll see if that happens. With recruiting sometimes it seems like they're going after different guys more than others, but a lot of times it's just in case. I think a lot of things are actually playing out well for us, and a lot of the attention has been negative with the decommits and the "otter." I think we have a legit shot at some quality guys that are left on the board. I think everyone is going to be happy with this class, and even more excited about next years. I can't say too much yet, but there is a lot of noise already with next years possible class.

Yea, it's hard to say right now, but we definitely have a shot with some. Some are DB's, some are athletes that could move to defense... -Denard Robinson -Travante Stallworth -Jayron Hosley -Mywan Jackson We have -Dewayne Peace, who could go both ways -Justin Turner -Thomas Gordon -Vlad Emilien -Mike Jones, might get moved -Cameron Gordon, could go both ways -Ike Bell, will probably move to LB So we've done pretty good as far as DB's are concerned. To add one more solid guy would be a nice end.

Because the better our D-line is the more O-line it will take to block them, allowing the LB's to have less interference. Thus equalizing our lack of super talented LB's for a year or two. All games are won up front...on both sides of the ball. I re-read that six times, does it make sense?

Do you know if RichRod has any interest in going after Carter? Florida recently dropped their recruitment for him and he's supposedly deciding between Minnesota and West Virginia. Seems like with that unspectacular list of finalist we could get involved if we wanted to, even this late in the process.

with Route 66. You can never have enough d lineman and they make the rest of the d look good when they play well. Keep dem big boys a coming, Hoss.

My favorite line of his is from a lesser known movie called "Winter Passing" which came out in 2005 with him and Zooey Deschanel. They have a dialogue that ends with this: ZD: Wolverines rock. WF: Wolverines do rock.
