Will Stevie Brown get drafted?
I was just wondering if anyone had any insights into whether or not Stevie Brown will be drafted. Most mock drafts that list rounds 1-7 don't have him anywhere on them, but a few have him going as high as the 5th round or so. Just wondering what your take is on his projection to the next level. Is he worthy of a draft pick? If so, what position does he project to? Is he too small to play outside linebacker in the pros? If drafted, what type of pick is he worthy of (fifth, sixth, seventh round)?

think alot will be said when scouts come to Pro day and the combine. Stevie is hard to place because hes not big enough to play LB, not fast enough to play safety, and corner isn't even a question.
If he has a good pro day/combine I could see him being a picked up as a 6/7 round pick and that team trying to find a spot for him. Most likely scenario is going undrafted, signed as a free agent and him sticking on a team as a special teamer while seeing if he can contribute on defense.

I doubt it. This is going to be a really deep draft with all of the juniors, so NFL teams won't be as apt to reach for a player without a true position.

If he goes undrafted this April he could maybe play as a linebacker in Canada, where the front seven are usually somewhat smaller, and where linebackers are relied on more frequently and explicitly for coverage -- skills he actually was asked to develop during his time at Michigan, and for whose further development he already has a basis.
This guy had a good year this year; it'd be great to see him succeed at the next level -- wherever it may be -- and then to see him come back as an assistant or a coach, since effort and dedication are clearly things he'd be an excellent teacher of.

... by the military than than NFL. Sorry to be so harsh but the kid never materialized into a consistently good football player. His misplays would make for a very lengthy and disturbing highlight tape.

He was our best linebacker this year... I'd call that consistently good.

I would love to see Brown start as a GA and see what happens from there. I agree that he is too much of a 'tweener to have a position in the NFL, but it isn't the end of the road. For example, being a 'tweener worked out pretty well a few years ago for a guy down in Miami by the name of Dwayne Johnson.

You never know, until he tests out on his pro day or at the combine. Yes he has been inconsistent and has had some bad plays but this year he's shown he can play close to the line, cover TEs and RBs and shown some versatility. Not sure about LB in the pros or at least a three down LB but maybe a nickel or dime LB or a 3rd safety playing closer to the line on passing downs. If he runs a decent 40, shows good strength and agility, I'm sure someone will find a spot for him, after all the 48, 49, 50, etc guys on your roster/practice squad need to be more versatile than fit a specific position or role guy. Not to come out and knock him, but remember we went through similar stuff with Ryan Mundy, he transfers to WVU, shows some consistency (like Stevie this year) and finds himself drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers and playing in his second year.

It'll be tough for him to get drafted to play a true position on defense. Lacks size to play Linebacker and speed for Safety. At best a 6th or 7th round pick to play special teams.

I think he'll get drafted late in the 7th. At the very least he should be able to put up some good numbers at the combine and Michigan's pro-day.

at the combine, then Al Davis will take him in the second round.
