Wife Day Open Thread

Wife Day (I.e. bye week) is upon us. Considering all that our mgowives have had to tolerate from us this season, how will you be expressing appreciation for your better half today?

Congratulations! Best wishes, and here's an old joke to send you off: A husband and wife were golfing when suddenly the wife asked, "Honey, if I died, would you get married again?" The husband said, "No, sweetie." The woman said, "I'm sure you would." The man said, "Okay, I guess I would" The woman asked, "Would you let her sleep in our bed?" The man replied, "Yeah, I guess so." The wife asked, "Would you let her use my golf clubs?" The husband replied, "No, she's left-handed."

So once I was driving I-94 where it's two lanes between BH and Kalamazoo.  Passed a guy who then FLEW past me.  OK.  Caught up with him awhile later as he was driving parellel with an old dude doing 55.  He kept that up for 10 miles or so, just to piss off me and another guy who came along.  When he finally exited, he made a point of looking over at me smiling like a dick.  And I thought, "What kind of person gets pleasure just from making others uncomfortable and unhappy?"

So, have you been back to SW Michigan recently?

I took the girl to Pearl Jam Thursday night and we stayed in Detroit that night. Woke up and went to some giant fucking outlet mall by The Palace yesterday. My Saturday is going to be a normal Saturday packed with football and yes Pearl Jam was unreal.

or nearly so.   as the old proverb says, 'he who finds a wife finds a good thing', and my wife is an absolute blessing to all of us in our household.

i'll be coaching football today with the 2 oldest boys, while she runs oldest daughter to PSAT's.   hockey game and birthday party in the evening.  would've been virtually no chance to watch a game even if there had been one.

enjoy your weekend mgobloggers.

I love football, but for me it all goes back to Michigan. When we are irrelevant, I just can't get that into any of the the games. Pre-2008, I could watch just about any game because somehow - even if minimally - they impacted Michigan. Rankings, teams that we played having better records, etc. Now, none of that matters as we are not even close to being relevant. Sad.

Funny, I've done the opposite since the era of mediocrity began. I always paid attention to other games before, but it's been a lot more so since about 2007. I want to watch actual good football, and it's an added bonus when I can watch with zero chance of heartbreak or anger.

Settlement agreement was signed by both of us on 9/25. Judge should be sending the judgement back within a week! Soon I will be free at last. Worst 7 years of my life will soon be over. The only thing worth a damn from it are my two beautiful boys. Temporary maintenance is over and I only owe her 1,825 a month for the next 19 years.

Been there dude-Better days ARE on the way. Took me just short of 25 years to figure out that I didn't have to live with an abusive, angry alcoholic so you're 18 years smarter than me.
And two years after I was set free I met my 2nd wife (the avatar) and we are going to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary this year.
It does get better-trust me.

Oh-we're closing down the cottage this weekend on Lake Erie. Watching 8 foot rollers right now....

be not just seeing the light at the end of that tunnel, you'll be basking in it!

I've been down that road, too---divorced for 5 years this coming January, I've long moved on and am better for it.  No more listening to the whining about every problem of her own making that she constantly blamed me for anyway; I've got 3 kids and now a grandkid that keep me busy in a good way.

thought it said mgolowlives, which is fitting. No wife for me, as many of you know she was killed by a man with a prosthetic arm. So I'm going to South Carolina for a few days to celebrate my niece's birthday

Even though I am married and have two kids, today is going to be pretty low-key and rather football-filled. As my wife actually works later today, there isn't much time to do anything spectacular, though we will be taking the kids to the rededication of our neighborhood park (which the city stopped maintaining in the recession and it has been a point of contention since then). It won't be flashy, of course - a hot dog and "Here, try out the not rusty swings" - but it is an improvement that only took five years of constant bitching on the part of myself and others.

We will be going to Home Depot. Helping her start painting our living room and kitchen. Before, I have the hell of working with my father in-bred (father in-law from Ohio) on putting a hard wood floor in first level of the house.

short course season, which works well. Wifi (not wife) and 3G/LTE is always sketchy inside those natatoriums for BTN2Go or IHeartRadio. Tracking a game on ESPN GameCast is torture. I love watching my kid swim more than anything but any fellow swim parents can attest there's plenty of time between races for keeping tabs on games so I'll probably still do a little of that. What I know for sure after contributing to and reading this thread is that this entire board is afflicted with a vast range of seriously first-world problems LOL. Have a great day everyone and Go Blue.

A cold and windy day for a golf match that my partner and I have been trying to schedule for a while. This Old Pal tournament is dragging on waaaaaaay too long and I hope we get it finished before the snow flies.

I might not call this Wife Day as much as "not get bummed out watching Michigan football" Day.  But yeah, my wife and little girl are happy I won't be grunt-swearing at the screen all day.

Wife and Daugter date night, Disney on Ice. Seems like we always get front row tickets to these shows, then come December I am sitting in the nose bleeds at Chrysler.

Go Blue!
