Why/how YOU came to MGoBlog

Submitted by M-Wolverine on

Opened up "Why I came to MGoBlog", thinking it would be something completely different. And while it's a great thread, it wasn't what I was expecting...and even though a few people threw the concept in there, it's more a Bama discussion (interesting in it's own right).  But what interested me - how did you first hear about MGoBlog, and what made you come here and start reading and posting?

My cool story bro is actually Jim Carty started fairly regularly referencing the Blog, and it was far more interesting, and better written, than anything Carty or the Ann Arbor News (yes, it was  a paper at the time) was putting out.  So after clicking it more and more, I went back to the beginning, and started reading all the parts that interested me over any lunch hours I was staying in, reading the opinion and emotion pieces, and skipping over Miami of Ohio previews, or UFRs (because while interesting today, 3 year old UFRs lose a little something), etc.  And few months later, I was basically up to date, and kept reading. Then started reading the posts too, and that season came around, and I finally started posting too.

So that's how I found it and started reading...how did you? Who guided you, tipped you off, what search made you come across MGoBlog...then stick around?

(Those 4 or 5 who mentioned it in the other thread, feel free to cut and paste).

My buddy at work introduced me to the site when signing day last year was going on. I asked how I could check out recruiting news/signings and there it was. This site was also extremely helpful when we were looking for a head coach. No looking back, I visit the site atleast 20 times a day. We ride till we die MGOBLOG!!

If she was banging someone who banged out often, like Jeter, who gave herpes to my girl Jessica Alba, I might be worried.  But I remember reading a story a year back about Sanchez banging out a 17 year old, and she was posting pictures of his messy apartment up on her twitter?

I'm sorry, but isn't Sanchez a relatively attractive rich young man living in New York?  He's supposed to be able to do better than a 17 year old.  (Like Kate Upton)  The only reason I can think of is that he's sexually inexperienced, and feel more comfortable with younger girls.  And if that's the case, I wouldn't worry about Herpes too much.

To answer the post's question, I was googling information on Michigan recruits and mgoblog came up.

My first Michigan game was The Horror. It was also my freshman year here.

After the Oregon game, I grew tired of knowing dick about football and this site got a decent amount of press. The UFRs won me over.

On my way to The Horror, I heard someone talking about how MGoBlog had said that Mallett shot laser beams out of his eyes or something along those lines. I heard another reference to it somewhere along the line too. Then, when Carr retired, I spent a lot of time on rivals, scout, espn, and MGoBlog trying to figure out who was going to be our next coach. I've been visiting 20-30 times a day since.

AnnArbor.com.  I was reading some mundane football article on AnnArbor.com, and one of the commenters wrote something like "A true Michigan fan reads MGoBlog, not these fluff pieces."

I was intrigued, checked out the blog, and was immediately hooked.

I think it was linked from one of the other sites or someone in a post mentioned the site so I took a look.

It was an extremely pleasant surprise, I was hooked at first glance but I kept my opinions to myself and didn't post much. (Lloyd hater)

Luckily this site spawned a few really good other blogs because the message boards on Scout and Rivals are unbearable anymore.

I was a Sophomore, my roommate was super into the Grand Rapids football scene (he went to CC there, I'm from California) and he heard about the blog on some forum he was reading.  Could have been rivals for all I know.  He started sending links, and I read casually until I was looking for things to do when bored at work in June 2007.  Finally joined the forum about 2 years ago? Maybe one year ago, I can't remember, it will remind me after I post this.  I don't post much, but more this season than any other.

The free cookies and punch.

And my general obsessive personality for all things UM football (One stop-shopping for roster news, transfers, recruit rankings, decommit rumors, infjury status, depth chart, etc.)

It's the best way to get U of M insider information quickly and without having to dig around other sites and content.

While I do love the information and analysis on this site, and there are some great personalities here, it is becoming increasingly "stringent" and "arrogant" with the way some people moderate the comments in the threads. Just an honest criticism.

I still come to the site several times a day and recommend my fellow U of M fans to browse the site as well.

I think my brother mentioned it a few times so I started checking it out in late 2007.  Then the RichRod hire got me hooked and I've been an addict ever since then.  Like, really an addict.

Watching a Wolverine Historian video and the site he linked to was the Mgoblog. I clicked the link and read a write-up on the UCLA basketball game and the upcoming Ohio football game and thought they were hilarious/accurate and have been hooked ever since.

back when google.com/realtime existed near signing day last year, I kept seeing incredibly accurate and seemingly insider information being tweeted by some guy named @TOMVH.

After investigating how he was so 'in the know, ' I ended up here.  I read a few posts, laughed at a few LOLCATS and I was hooked.

I posted on another message board with Brian's brother.  He posted one day "hey, my brother started this Michigan blog the other day, you should check it out." And so I did.  Been here ever since.

My friend/classmate at U of M Dearborn mentioned something about it and he was constantly on it while we were in class...I checked it out, fell in love and haven't left since. I think he's still on here, too.
