Who would you schedule if you had the Power?

Submitted by Raback Omaba on
If you were AD and had the power to schedule a home/home contest with ANY BCS school, who would it be??? Notre Dame is still on our schedule....this team would have to replace an EMU/WMU or Delaware State....who would it be? I, for one, would like to see a Florida School...Miami or Florida, and to a lesser extent FSU. It would help with our recruiting down there....and it would be a fun away game to travel to. After that, maybe Tenn, GA or Bama.....something about going up against SEC schools gets me excited. Who would you choose?

and I thought it would be cool to play Kansas...b/c they're ranked and we're also playing them in bball. Wait we're talking about this year right? I wouldn't put someone in we can't beat more than 5/10 times.

I'll take the minority viewpoint here and say a few easy games to go with Notre Dame. Michigan vs Notre Dame is a very large game on the national stage. I don't see the need to play two big name games and increase your chance to kill your season before week four (see OSU and their chance at making the MNC game).

Any of the Florida schools. Maybe UCLA. On a less serious note, Nebraska. Just because I live in Omaha and all I hear about is Huskers this Huskers that. I don't have anything against the team, but so many fans here seem to have some sort of inferiority complex, particularly towards UM. I'd be nice to blow them out at the big house and in Lincoln, just for the sheer schadenfreudeness.

Texas Tech would SHRED us to pieces. I have so much more respect for the air raid offense then Weis's chucking long balls offense. I love me some Cissoko (no homo) but the poor guy would break down and cry covering Mike Leach's calls.

Note that this is against North Dakota and Rice, but Taylor Potts has thrown for 9 TDs and 860 yards in two games, completing 2/3 of his throws. He is a junior so he more or less knows his job by now and everything I've heard about him is along the lines of "Graham Harrell but bigger stronger and faster". While I do cheer for TTU and I have a lot of friends there, I enjoy watching Michigan win games way to much to sign onto the idea of playing TTU. Just my e-pinion though.

lets get some Puff 12 teams up to Ann Arbor. Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska. Im a big fan of playing the Pac-10. Played some great games with them (lets just not play Oregon). We play SEC in bowl games. Tired of seeing us whoop up on them....On second thought it doesnt get much better then whooping them in their place

I would trade USC and delaware state, they come here in october while i pray for cold cold weather, and we return at a later date cause next year would be killer, at usc, at penn state, at notre dame at osu

The coach we almost got v the one we did get. A on old 'Michigan Man' v a new one. Plus we seem to be competing with them for all the players with the fantastic names, Munchie, Barkavious, etc. And great stadium, great food, SEC power...

They're #2 in all time wins I believe. Neat showdown by top 2 winniest programs; Any of the top tier SEC programs: FL, LSU, Bama, GA. Great for exposure. Michigan, unlike OSU, has usually competed very well against SEC schools.

I would hate to play a service academy. You don't really feel good after playing a service academy and unless you're a complete loser, you can't boo them either during the game. If Navy became a national player again, I'd be willing to play them, but if we did we should treat them with the utmost respect during the game.

Personally, I like the idea of going into the ACC / Big East footprint. Winnable games, but not totally lopsided games that get the attention of recruits on the East coast. I'd also love to see them come to the rose bowl to play UCLA, as I am in the area.

Arizona especially for a home and home. We could storm Tucson, crush the home team, and then take over all the 4th avenue bars. I have always loved the nightlife there.

Every year: Game 1: MAC Team Game 2: ND Game 3: Army (new tradition; every year) Game 4: One of Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Florida, LSU, Georgia, Alabama, West Virginia, USC, Oregon, Utah, Boise State

Those f-ers play hard and each game is always surrounded with political bs. I say we rotate the directional schools each year---so let's play western, then eastern, then central, and do that every 3 years. ND BIG Game home-and-home On years that we have a road game for the above, we play a serious cupcake. On years that we have the game at home, we play a low level BCS team (whether that's another MAC opponent, or Conf USA team, or whatever).

in late November two weeks before the Buckeyes on a nice crusty field with 20 miles an hour from the west. Just once I'd like to see those boys face some elements.

A PAC 10 team and a SEC team. The shame of college football is that there's so many awesome combinations of teams that only ever occur during bowl season. A different PAC 10 and SEC team every year would be pretty cool (not just for M but for all teams in big conferences)

They got a big 'ole stadium; famous, but ineffective (as of lately) coach; always seem to get the "Kickoff Thurs" first game of the season with the national spotlight effect; gives us southern exposure; good chance of a win; can head to the beach for a long week-end & i knows most all of Michigan (and Ohio unfortunately) comes down here anyway...

This would follow the ND tradition of scheduling a school that looks decent for the computers and polls but is a step below elite status. Besides, I'd love to see UM come down to the Ray Jay without having to play in the Outback Bowl. Except, of course, for this season. The Outback would mean a good season for UM at this stage in their development. Next year, though, and hopefully most years thereafter, the Outback would be a major disappointment. But I digress. A home and home with USF or UCF would be good for Florida recruiting. They could also something similar to this in TX, playing someone like Rice. I agree that MSU, OSU, PSU, and ND are enough tough games for one season. If there were a 16-team playoff, it would probably be better to play another "big boy," but under the current system, Big Ten teams seem to make a lot of title games with only one tough OOC game, even if "they" only means OSU so far.

Battle between two of the best public universities in the country. We'd get to relive the 1995 game every year. And we'd be playing a great public university outside of the Pac-10, which avoids an always difficult road-trip that has the strong potential to bite us later in the year. That said, I wouldn't do this until Virginia became semi-competent again.

2 weeks before OSU in the cold.. with theyre overrated qb that was lucky to get 18 points up on THE smelly armpit state university..but by then everyone will know theyre not that great this year...also we should schedule delaware..so everyone on the field is wearing winged helmets and complete chaos breaks out on the feild
