I’m rolling with Team Spath/Brown. They have a clear advantage on the offensive line.

The offenisve line for Team Borton/Balas is better suited to Green (outside zone) and the line for Spath/Brown is better suited for Smith.  Hard to pick against a Peppers defense though so I'll go Borton/Balas.

when teams (especially MSU) would just pressure us up the middle and destroy offensive play after play.  For this reason alone, I would pick Spath & Brown to constantly blitz up the middle against Bars & Froelich.

If Speight is competent, Spath easily wins. No real weaknesses on the O-Line (versus Balas having Greg Froelich, who I have never heard of) and several playmakers on offense (Cole, Darboh, and Butt). The defenses are a wash, though I would rather have Lewis and Watson over Countess and Stribling.

The big advantage for Balas is Morris, but who will he throw to? He is relying on Smith running behind a number of unproven linemen.

Borton/Balas defense looks pretty damn tough.  It seems most are focused on the O-side. Wormley, Pipkins and Mone give you three 300 pounders on the line with Morgan and Ross as LBs and Peppers, Countess and Stribling on the back end.  Winner, winner, chicken dinner.
