Who will start at QB the first game of 2009?

Submitted by UMxWolverines on
This is to be my first post that is not OT... I heard Nick Sheridan took the first snaps in spring practice, but does anyone think he will actually be the starter the first game of the season? He did the best he could last year and I know he has the seniority over Tate and Denard, but still? Tate seems like the best passer out of the 3, has pretty fast speed, and is kinda cocky. Thats what I like to see in a QB, that he isn't intimidated by much. Denard is a little bit faster and also not a bad passer. But since he is an ATH, is it likely that RR will stick him as slot receiver or cornerback? What does everyone think?

Tate. But, his listed height and weight is nowhere near accurate. For those who have seen the video of practice on rivals, they know what I am talking about. I'm 5'10" and 160 pounds, and he does not look much bigger than I would out there. But, there is about 6 months to the first game, so he has plenty of time to bulk up and add weight. He'll get the start, imo.

Sheridan starts with Tate slowly taking over. I still wouldnt count out D Rob. He might surprise a lot of people. We'll see.

Being cocky and having swagger and confidence are two separate qualities. Maybe you have a different understanding of cocky than I do, but much to my understanding Tate is not cocky. Cocky is what Jimmy Clausen is, confident is what Tate is. As far as who will start, early reports are that Tate has showed some of his pin point passing in practice. The only way I see him not starting is if he isn't fully able to grasp the offense by the start of the season.

no one knows who the starter is going to be 6 months from now... so many variables, so many things for the coaches to evaluate... one thing is for sure, height and weight of the starting qb, is about 10th on the list of criteria in deciding who will start. pat white, troy smith... about the same size comming out of highschool.... in fact some would say smaller guys are better suited to run the zone read, to get lost behind ol, like a shorter running back... look for a decision to be made about who starts the first game, about a week before the first game...

Or else it will be a ringing condemnation of both Forcier and Robinson. It can't get any worse than Sheridan. My guess is that you'll see both Forcier and Robinson. If they both incorporate themselves well into the offense, then they can both be out there at the same time, which would be very interesting. I expect freshman mistakes, but it can't be any worse than last year.

Almost everyone though Threet would start but Sheridan did last year. I would not be surprised to see Forcier, Robinson, or Sheridan (but Cone or Feagin would be quite interesting to say the least) start next year. Although if I'd guess, I'd say it would be Forcier because he would know the offense better than Robinson at that point. However both will probably play against Western Michigan's defense which wasn't great and lost virtually all their playmakers. I would not rule out Sheridan at this point sadly. Give him credit though, he stuck it out even when getting raped by every defense he saw. (Especially PSU and OSU.)

I think Dametrius Brown comes back for his final year of eligibility. It's been 20 years but I hear he still has a gun and can finally read defenses.

I might kill myself if Sheridan plays. I'm sure he's a nice guy. But he was awful at quarterback. Maybe let him be the holder or something but come on! I don't care how Forcier or Robinson grasp the offense (which, I keep hearing Forcier is doing very well)...it will suck for everyone involved (other than the team(s) we play against) if Sheridan starts. Even if RichRod is willing to bench him for Forcier/DRob, it'll be THAT much of the game lost before one of them comes in. At the very least, at least Forcier/DRob is CAPABLE of a big-time play. I don't care if neither one knows the offense, they're both faster and more agile and...more apt to turn nothing into NOT a bigger nothing. Seriously. I like life and don't want to die. That's why I really do not want Sheridan to start. I'd love to watch the game with him, just not watch the game with him playing. Again, I'm sure he's a nice guy...but maybe he should go into coaching like his old man sooner rather than later.
